US Men's National Team (8 Viewers)

Johnny with a first time role as a sub for Betis today. Twitter said Betis was doing some rotation for today's game. I don't know the team well enough to comment.
Considering he's coming off the u23 la Liga POT Month, I'd assume he's just getting a rest and not at risk here. But I also don't know the team.

AC Milan are in talks to appoint former LA Galaxy Jovan Kirovski as part of their board, wanted by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Kirovski brought Zlatan to LA Galaxy in 2018 and he's already been in Milano recently for negotiations. Talks to follow.

Bogert is reporting that Kirovski's role is intended to be the lead of the Milan second team.
Milan doesn't currently have an U23 team, but are expected to start one this summer. I'm assuming this is the role Kirovski would take on. Could be a great position for him. Seems like Ibra really wants him.

The USMNT Nations League roster will be released today at 2:30pm ET.
Roster is out. I couldn't find a source to cut-and-paste from and don't feel like typing it all up, but easy to find on Twitter.

Nothing too crazy, although certainly some debatable choices for the last few spots.

U.S. roster

Goalkeepers: Drake Callender (Inter Miami), Ethan Horvath (Cardiff City), Matt Turner (Nottingham Forest).

Defenders: Sergiño Dest (PSV Eindhoven), Kristoffer Lund (Palermo), Mark McKenzie (Genk), Tim Ream (Fulham), Chris Richards (Crystal Palace), Antonee Robinson (Fulham), Miles Robinson (FC Cincinnati), Joe Scally (Mönchengladbach).

Midfielders: Tyler Adams (Bournemouth), Johnny Cardoso (Real Betis), Luca de la Torre (Celta Vigo), Weston McKennie (Juventus), Yunus Musah (AC Milan), Gio Reyna (Nottingham Forest).

Forwards: Folarin Balogun (Monaco), Malik Tillman (PSV Eindhoven), Ricardo Pepi (PSV Eindhoven), Christian Pulisic (AC Milan), Josh Sargent (Norwich City), Tim Weah (Juventus).

Tillman and Dest both starting against Dortmund in today's Champions League game. If I understand the rules correctly, scenarios are:
If either team wins, they advance
2-2 draw or higher, PSV would advance
0-0 draw, Dortmund would advance
1-1 draw, ??? (maybe penalty kicks?)

Unified Beerworks (Malta NY) Midnight in Dresden schwarzbier. So tasty.

Based on Aaronson’s form it makes sense he wasn’t called up but I’m still surprised.

gkers seem ok, it is what I would have guessed.

Defenders seem to choose themselves. I think McKenzie got the nod over CCV.

Midfielders: Adams is a surprise even though he seems close to being back. Not sure what to think of Gio. Outside of just raw talent, he has done literally nothing to be called up

Forwards: All make sense. I think Tillman works better as an offensive 8 than as a wing though.

Looking at the forwards more in depth, is interesting.

If we assume a 4-3-3 this is a really odd roster grouping because it contains more pure strikers than pure wingers and in a 4-3-3 you usually want to roster the exact opposite.

Could this maybe indicate we might try dual 9's at some point?

Berhalter said Cameron Carter-Vickers has been dealing with injuries off and on since December. He said it's about getting him right ahead of the summer.

Gregg Berhalter just said he felt the coming U-23 camp would be better for Kevin Paredes and Paxten Aaronson where they will play more in some big pre-Olympic games. He added the same about keepers Gaga Slonina and Patrick Schulte

Berhalter just spoke of Gio Reyna's lack of minutes- He said it's always a concern when players don't play regularly but he said there is always an adjustment period moving leagues. He said he thinks Gio will get there. Called him up because he's performed well for the #USMNT

Richie Ledezma is showing up on the PSV bench today. I have not seen his name in a long time.

Whoa that's exciting! I totally missed that. Funny thing is I was trying to research what was going on with him a couple of days ago and couldn't really find anything.

No more away goals, right? So any draw goes to extra time since they're currently tied.

Oh...didn't realize that!

Looks solid...but Who's missing from the list?

And wanted to say, with PSV playing in a few minutes, it's been great seeing Tillman pop and get starts lately. Still raw with some of the decision making, but that's what game time will hopefully work out. I've been enjoying watching him play as a guy who is kinda sorta to he same position as Gio. He's more advanced like Gio, but shows good awareness and physicality tracking back defensively.

4-3-1-2? Puli playing the 10?

Adams gets his first minutes of the season, getting a decent 30 minute run (including injury time).

Incredible come back for Bournemouth, down 3-0 to winning 4-3 in one half.

Adams subbed in at 3-3.

I don't know how Luton can bounce back from this. That was 3 points they really needed and to see it evaporate in one half has to be demoralizing to say the least.

All 3 of the Americans played well. Pepe only had a few mins but had a nice header that led to a near-sitter for De Jong that he Wondo'd over the crossbar with about 30 seconds left that would have tied it.
Second game in a row I've watched DeJong miss everything coming his way badly.

Considering the chances PSV created over the two legs, they should be hanging their heads in shame for not advancing. So wasteful.

Dest looked like the only guy in the first half who showed up to play for PSV.. he was balling out.

Dest, Weston, Jedi and Pulisic are all playing well. Hopefully it is enough to carry the rest of the team in these two games.
Isn't Dest out because of his head in the *** red card?

yes you are correct. I forgot that they have not had a real game since that nutso red card, I believe he will have to sit out the semi final.

I assume Scally will start in his place.

Probably the best single season turn around I have ever seen for a US player

It's really not surprising that it happened with Wes. The guy is super talented and has good athleticism. He always seemed a little immature and possibly lacking work ethic / drive to be great. I think he's maturing and learning to focus on the work needed to be great. Very happy to see it.

wow, I completely missed this news.

The U17 World Cup will now be held every year and will include 48 countries. The next 5 versions of the U17 WC will be held in Qatar starting in 2025.

Qatari Emir: "We just spent $30 billion on these stadiums, why aren't they being used?"

Sports minister: "Well, you see sir, the World Cup is over."

Qatari Emir: .......

Sports minister: "We'll figure something out."
