US Men's National Team (20 Viewers)

Poch expects at least the quarterfinals for the USMNT in the 2026 WC.

I like that he's coming out with the high expectations.
That means winning two knock out round games, something the US has never done before.

Although the general feeling of knock out round games are going to be odd. In the past the team that came in 28-32nd typically had horrendous World Cups but in 2026 those teams will be in the knock out round.

Balogun drew a PK but it was then over turned by VAR

Seems like Monaco would have a bigger stadium. Ter Stegen playing today like he had money on the game.

Monaco is tiny. I think the population is only 38kish, so while the stadium is small, is actually holds a large % of Monaco's population. I don't know how much of their fan base is drawn from outside of Monaco though..

Lol... Ok, so it wasn't him.
Yeah - I initially made a post about the goal, thinking it was him. Pretty sure the broadcasters initially said it was.
Balogun did show some field awareness by ducking instead of jumping for the ball which could have ruined the break if he got a touch on it

This is the 16 year old kid for the Revs

Caleb Porter on Peyton Miller while talking to 98.5.

"He’s got scouts all over him in Europe. There was a scout watching him last night. We don’t want to sell the kid but obviously if we get an offer that’s good enough we will have to. "

This kid is ridiculously good. He's akin to Alphonso Davies. He's the fastest player in MLS at 16.

He also seems to have a good head on his shoulders. I watched him yesterday and he took a very nuanced tactical foul when he knew they were exposed that even 30 year old vets won't process. I'm not sure I'm not more excited about him than Cavan. As a 16-yo, his average Sofascore is 7.02 and he's incredibly consistent.

It's early days but Dejuan Jones never achieved a 7 (he hovered in the 6.8s) in the same role with the Revs. This kid is elite. Other MNT fullbacks like Moore and Yedlin have never achieved a 7 in MLS for a season. Ftr, Davies hovered around 6.6 until 2018 when he exploded and got to a 7.16 before his transfer to Bayern (when he was already 18 - 2 years older than Miller) .

They are going to get a 10MM plus offer for him but he doesn't have an Euro passport so he's locked to the Revs til next winter (he turns 18 next November).

Damn. Sounds like a potential star. So, ideal world.... he gets transferred next winter, makes an impact for some big team in spring 2026 and makes the WC team as Jedi's backup? That'd be really cool to see.

Elite young talent can break through into a national team, even a top 10 or top 5 nation. Look at Yamal for Barça.

So if Peyton Miller is the real deal, he might be able to break through. Can he play right back? If so, that might allow Dest to play higher up.

Or either Dest or Jedi gets hurt and Miller gets the start... could happen in WC26.

Hey guys, let's not forget we already have Bello.

Thanks for sharing about this new kid... New reasons to be watching MLS more regularly.

I believe he has been a left sided player in his short career so far.

We rarely if ever see a left footed player playing RB but that is more due to a lack of left footed players more than anything else. If a right footed player can play LB, which we see on occasion, then the opposite should be true.

I think we may see him get transferred next summer if he continues to impress, with a simple loan back to NE for the rest of the MLS season.

Worst part of the Apple deal is that I just never remember to look for random other games on since it is a separate app.
No, the worst part is paying higher prices for inferior soccer. I mean you could follow the NFL example where you grow it huge and then start gradually with paid streaming or you could run around for every nickel on the ground growth be damned.

Free for season ticket holders :coffee:

This may be an interesting name to track in the future. Sciaretta highlighted him in a Soccer America article.

Santiago Castaneda was born and raised in Tampa. In late High School he signed with the Tampa Bay Rowdies but only played one game for the main club before rolling the dice and moving to Germany where he signed with 3rd division team Duisberg.

He played a healthy 32 games for them in his first season and was signed this summer by Paderborn, who play in Bundesliga 2.

I believe he has started every game for Paderborn so far, who have yet to lose on the year and sit in a tie for 3rd with 2 wins and 2 draws.

Santiago plays midfield for them.

I do not believe Santiago has ever been called up to any US team to date. He is only 19 right now and is a dual nat (Colombia). His dad was a pro soccer player in Colombia.

Another 90 minutes for Castaneda today as Paderborn remains unbeaten on the season after a 2-1 win today.

And McKennie back in the starting lineup. This feels a lot like last year.

We give Swag a lot of crap in thread but the one thing he has in spades is resilience. This makes the 3rd season in a row that from all evidence Juventus gave up on him entirely and he appears to again be forcing his way back into the line up.

I hope he can build off that strong performance in Champions League with a good game today.

Reading about Miller the more I am interested in the team trying out a back 5 with a pair of real wingbacks. Honestly behind Pulisic our best players are outside backs. I also feel a bit more comfortable with our weakness at CB having three back there and Richards has done pretty well in a back three at Crystal Palace.
