US Men's National Team (8 Viewers)

AC Milan, down 2-0, draw a PK and Santiago takes it instead of Pulisic and has his shot saved.

Did not watch but statistically Pulisic had a poor game and was subbed out in second half.

Musah did not dress due to suspension

WTF. I thought Milan already went through the BS of guys selfishly deciding to take the penalty instead of Pulisic. Their fans have to be livid at this point. Sad to hear he had a bad game though. Glad I couldn't watch now.

There seems to be some confusion online about what happened. Some are saying Santi stole the pk, others are saying Pulisic gave it to him to get him out of his slump (similar to what he did for Haji a couple of years ago).

I don’t know if the coach has spoken about it yet to see what is what.

Post game comments from Conceciao seem to confirm that Pulisic gave it up to try and get Santi out of his slump. If that's true, then Christian needs to learn better timing. You give up the responsibility when you're beating a relegation side by multiple goals. You don't hand it off when you're down 2-0 in a must win game. Poor decision to add to his poor outing it seems. Oof.

Inexcusable either way. Only acceptable reason for Pulisic not to take the kick is if it was the managers decision. Otherwise only question is whether Pulisic was the idiot or not.

If Santi stole the pk, he should be suspended for three games. If Pulisic gave it to him, I'd suspend him for a game and suspend Pulisic for two games.

It's almost inconceivable that you'd ever have any NBA player give a technical free throw to a teammate without the coach directing it...and each free is about 1% as important as each penalty kick.

Well that only took a minute from waking up to see a strange US player (Kochen) issuing a one time switch to Spain before I realized the date

Jedi is captain for Fulham today against Arsenal

An unknown (to me) Yank named Mael Corboz is captaining little Arminia Bielefeld in the German Cup semi finals against Bayer Leverkusen

Arminia win 2-1 and advanced to German Cup finals.

Bundesliga 3 in the house :)
Sadly, Fulham lost.

But very cool about Arminia B.
That's the first I've heard of this guy... Do you know anything about him? I see he wears the 6.

Looks like he’s 30 years old. Played college soccer before kicking around a bunch of pro leagues.

Hey look, the opposite of wet and bumpy

Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro urged the German Football Association (DFB) to “impose a penalty” on Arminia Bielefeld for not watering their pitch as the Bundesliga champions lost 2-1 to the third division side in the DFB-Pokal.

Despite taking the lead through Jonathan Tah, Leverkusen lost to goals by Marius Worl and Maximilian Grosser, in one of the biggest shocks the competition has seen in recent years.

Free flowing football is typically easier to play on a wet pitch, as it allows the ball to be passed and moved at greater speed. Leverkusen, who won the Bundesliga and Pokal double last season, are one of the most dangerous attacking sides in Germany, with Xabi Alonso’s team favouring such a style of play.

However, they were unable to enact it at the SchucoArena where the surface was noticeably worn and dry

I did not know Quinn and Cavan had twin brothers. They are also in the Philly system it looks like from this tweet, although I assume not the prospects their brothers are, if this is true about representing Bangladesh instead of the US

BFF VP Fahad Karim spoke with Quinn and Cavan Sullivan's father. While Quinn and Cavan aim to represent the USA, their father is open to Ronan and Declan playing for Bangladesh. Their passport process will begin soon, and Fahad will discuss this with their grandmother tomorrow.

Looks like both dad and grandfather had back grounds in the sport.

Well this is all sorts of bizarre

MLS Next, MLS’ youth setup, is replacing a traditional table with “quality of play” rankings for certain age groups. A UK-based firm will watch and analyze each game.

If that seems entirely subjective to you, you’re not the only one!
MLS version of the BCS and older school college football rankings....
Oooh... Pick me! I want to judge this stuff!

God lord.

And damn, too little too late. I would've been a highly ranked guy in that set up. Never won anything, but looked good losing.

Eta.. and that was just my hair!

Very positive reviews for Aidan Morris today in Middlesbrough’s 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers. Led all players with a hefty 14 duels won as well Morris has been excellent in Boro’s last 2 games, as the club are starting to pick up form again. Now 5th in the Championship.
Morris has been quietly awesome since moving. He's the 2nd highest rated American in the Championship (behind Haji) ahead of Sargent and Aaronson.

I don't know if he has a lot of growth left in his game, but he's been one of the better mids in the Champinoship. And that should put him in the mix for the back side of the US roster - though with Johnny and Tessmann playing well too, it's a crowded group.
