US Men's National Team (40 Viewers)

This team still needs to have more of a killer instinct in driving the ball forward. Feels like someone gets with 5 yards of a player and they pass it all the way back to the goalie.

They need to be more focused on generating pressure. Thought Aaronson did a great job of that.
we are greatly lacking in players who are willing to try and take on a defender one on one.

Even with the full team we have pretty much only 3 who are not afraid. Dest, Pulisic and Jedi. Dest and Puli have the technical skill where as Jedi just does the "**** you, I am pushing this past you and see if you can keep up" tactic that serves his lower technical ability well. This is yet another area where Gio face planting has killed us. Watching him glide by hardened Bundesliga defenders like he was walking on air at just 18 seems like a life time ago :(

You look at Freeman who is clearly a fantastic athlete but he seems scared to make a mistake going forward. At least Arfsten and Tolkin try a little even if they are limited. Some one like Freeman could do worse than look at Jedi and try to model his game after him.

Weah has this ability... but also plays safe too much for club. What will the move to the EpL mean... I worry it might lead to "safer" play.

To be honest, I was expecting more showing in this area. From the game and a half I saw, I didnt see a big top speed, didn't see short burst quickness, didn't see change of direction.

I do hope he can follow in Jedi's footsteps, but I didn't see it yet for the USMNT. Has he shown that athleticism in MLS?

I felt the same as Z... Nothing elite popped out at me.

Also noted that Ag- whole he has decent top speed, and especially understanding how to use his body while making the runs to gain spatial advantage to win balls... Has a really slow first step and short range quickness.

I guess what I did see from Freeman was decent tactical awareness, decent passing, and decent touch. Those were light years ahead of Jedi at age 20 IMO.

FWIW, I see Jedi still making some poor tactical decisions and can put his teammates in bad spots with his passing in the defensive 3rd. I don't see that as much with Fulham, but without Ream to his right I fear that Jedi is still liable to make some bone head play with or without the ball. Yes, I know that Ream is long gone from Fulham, but I think Jedi benefits from reps and reps and reps playing next to the same player.

What I've watched of him, Jedi has grown a ton and minimized his issues- especially over anticipating the pass and the getting beat. Sure he'll make a mistake or two during a game .. but like anybody else. The bonehead stuff seems long gone imo.

yes he seems much more willing to get forward at club level. He already has 4 goals at the club level in just 17 games, quite good for a RB.

I agree he has shown almost no willingness to get forward with the nats. He is not a quick player but once he gets his long strides going he can really move.

The most interesting thing about Jedi is that his lead feet have never improved that much but he has incorporated it into his game to make it work for him some how.

One area he has improved upon quite a bit is crossing the ball.

Bayer Leverkusen wants to quickly get down to business with PSV as they believe they can sign Malik Tillman for €35M, the same amount of Bayern’s buyback clause. It was initially assumed that the buyback clause would not come into effect until 2026, but it appears Bayern could be able to use that buyback option this summer. Tillman’s camp believes that the amount of the buyback option should also be sufficient for Leverkusen to get him from PSV. Based on that, Leverkusen think they sign him quickly.Tillman also has interest from English clubs, but he is already personally in line with Leverkusen, so that things can go quickly. PSV will try to get a higher transfer fee and claim that the buyback clause only applies to Bayern and not to other clubs. This is being discussed by the parties.

Per Fabrizio:

Jhonny Cardosa deal between Atletico and Real Betis will be sealed in the next 24 hours
30m Euros
Really not excited about this. I hope I'm very wrong.
I don't think I've watched a minute of Johnny outside the USMNT other then whatever highlights have been posted here so take my opinion with that in mind. I don't get the love for this guy. Every time I've seen him play for the USMNT I've been underwhelmed.

He's been pretty meh to bad for the US. I've watched a bit of him at Betis and keep saying the same thing- he works well in a double pivot where he's not being asked to do the heavy lifting and has a partner who covers lots of ground on both sides of the ball. He reads space there pretty well, is decisive on the ball with decent vision and skill to make the quick short pass, diagonal or dribble forward. I think he'd do well next to Adams, who can be the alpha to his beta. But I don't know that they've ever actually played together... Which SUCKS.

Ha.. was just coming to say, after watching Juve get absolutely and aimlessly humiliated vs MC, I was glad Timmy had gotten out. Oh well.

At least Swag didn't embarrass himself out there. Wish he tried to find ways forward more, but operating in the triple pivot of what looked like a 5-5-0, there wasnt much opportunity.

Latest on Patrick Agyemang situation, per sources: Derby County and Ipswich Town are two of the clubs pushing to sign him

Talks ongoing but NO agreement between any club and Charlotte FC

No agreement yet between Agyemang and any club either
Derby closing in with 7m fee. Not final but sounding close.
That would be a nice fee for Charlotte. I think all they spent on him was 100k of monopoly money to draft him. Getting $7m in real money return two years later is very nice.

Looks like Balogun will get a famous new team mate.

Paul Pogba will be attempting to restart his career, after being two years out of the game, at Monaco.

Guate takes down Canada on PKs so winner meets them in the semifinals
Went 4-4, guat missed theie 5th and Larin missed his. Glad they pulled it out. I saw them thoroughly beat... I think... Jamaica in group play. They looked good- organized, and with some talent up front to get things done

So any thoughts that Poch was "saving" Turner or Johnny for the knockouts... Out the window.
Johnny is injured and he is not on the bench tonight. I believe he hasn't practiced since the last match and they are holding off on the physical for his move to Atletico.
Turner is the interesting one.

Freese has not really done anything that makes me think he should be any where near our #1 keeper. I hope he has a good game tonight. Poch clearly has lost interest and or trust in Turner.
