Let's make it fair... only guesses allowed...

Only one player, since the merger, has at least a passing TD, a rushing TD and a receiving TD in 3 consecutive years... who?

In fact, Tomlinson and Payton are the only other players to do it in 3 seasons (in more than one season actually!)... LT in '03, '05' and '06... missed the 4 consecutive seasons by not passing for a TD in '04...

ETA Payton!

Walter PaytonId
Good guess, but unfortunately not in 3 consecutive seasons... he had passing TDs in 5 different seasons... recorded the 3category TDs in 3 seasons: '79, '83 & '85...

For RaiderNation, in order for him to stain his deck today :hot: ...

Additional tips (that might give it away):

He finished RB1 for FF purposes in one season;
In front of Thurman Thomas, Barry Sanders & Christian Okoye to name a few, that season.

Interesting to note that Hilliard missed it in '86 (his rookie season) because he didn't have a receiving TD!... he would have done it for 4 consecutive years...

Tomlinson only missed it in '02 (no passing attempt) and in '04 where he attemped only 2 passes... he can match Dilliard's 3 consecutive seasons if he gets a TD in all 3 categories this year...

Payton missed it in '82 & '84 because he didn't have a receving TD!... tossed TD passes in 4 consecutive seasons ('82 to '85)...

---

Now, for the real connaisseur...

Which teammates (i.e. same team, same year), since the merger, are the only one to record a TD in all 3 categories?

LT only has to catch a TD pass in the last 15 games to become the second player after Dalton Hilliard to have at least a passing TD, a rushing TD and a receiving TD in 3 consecutive years... I think we can assume he'll get it...

1983 Chicago BearsWalter Payton

6 Rushing

2 Receiving

3 Passing

Jim McMahon

2 Rushing

1 Receiving

12 Passing

Payton & McMahon were my first guess but I looked them up to provide the stats. I remember a McMahon receiving TD (I don't know if it was this one or the one in '85) because he dove and was literally horizontal in the air as he crossed the goal line catching the pass with nothing but his outstretched fingertips. I still can't believe he held on when he hit the ground, one of the best grabs I've ever seen.

Alright, who was the last team to have a QB, a RB, and a WR throw a TD in the same season?

QB Tommy Maddox - 1 TD

RB Jerome Bettis - 1 TD
