Vasectomy in the AM... (1 Viewer)

For me-no needle, no scalpel, no problems.  I had one, um, side, swell for a day but aside from that all went smooth.  Tested a month later or whenever I was told to and it was negative for kid seed.

The smoke coming from down there while he was working on me freaked me out a minute but I guess all Vietnamese doctors smoke during the procedure, or so he said.

did you do the open ended procedure?

Was is that? Not tying off the end of the severed vas?  If so, from what I recall that option was available if I may change my mind one day - I told them to double knot it.  If that's not what you mean then please explain.

correct.  they leave the end coming from your nads open to relieve initial pressure.  naturally closes itself off in time.  and it does allow an easier repair job if you want to put it all back together.   my only reason for maybe going that route is less pain do to pressure build up afterwards.

Is there a post in the thread somewhere that has everything I need to know about this before I ask all the questions that have most assuredly been covered?
It's worth reading the entire thing

Have about an hour of fertility left.  Wasn't anxious at all till now. Deep breaths.
You will have a little more than this.  Took me 3 months to get all the little fellas out.  Hopefully not the case for you.  The procedure is no big deal.

True that.  I have to go in 9 weeks to have sperm count checked.  This procedure sucked for me....the numbing agent didn't work at first and it hurt like hell when they went to make first incision. After they gave me more of the agent and the rest went well....but that first cut totally ####ed with my head.  Today I'm a little achy....think blue balls but not as bad.  Worst part about is the stitches / incisions.  Just feels like I cut myself shaving and feels like I'm all chaffed.  I did come in to work so it's not that bad.

You should be good to go in a couple of days.  Take it easy for sure.  It will pay dividends.

One week later and I'm still not fully healed.  Where I'm stitched still feels chaffed and uncomfortable.  Get achy pains when I move or sit a certain way.  I had some bruising but that's been steadily clearing up.  Still not ready for the gym or working out.....lifting the kids all weekend hasn't helped me either.  Waking up in the morning is the worst....seems to hurt the most I guess by the way I sleep.  Please get better soon guys.....

It's different for everyone I suppose.  Try to not lift the kids if you can.  Be patient.

This. I had neighbors who played 18 holes of golf 2 days later. I had mine done Friday & was back at work Monday and nobody was the wiser. Saturday was the least comfortable of the days... Sunday was way better. I was only 32 at the time, so that may matter. Was shooting blanks fairly quickly as the wife & I made sure the system was fully purged  at the follow up visit.

Had mine done an hour ago. Laying in bed now. Literally took him 10 minutes. I got called into the procedure room at 950 and was walking out at 1025. Worst part was the anticipation and the second local injection into my right ball. That felt kick a kick in the nuts. As far as the cutting and cautery i felt nothing. Key is waiting a minute after injection before cutting and giving it time to work. Wife is taking the kids to camp for the weekend so i have the house to myself til sunday night. That alone is worth the surgery. I took the valium too late. Wasnt expecting to cut until 1030 but he was running ahead of time so the valium kicked in as i was walking out lol.

I have it scheduled for this fall.  I better be getting a free weekend out of it too.  thanks for the tip.

Kid #3 due in 2 weeks. As soon as I count 10 fingers and 10 toes I'm calling a urologist. Thinking of doing it the Monday before Thanksgiving and making a nice little 10 day vacation out of it.

Having it done 12 hours from now. It being opening football weekend was not a coincidence.

I plan to take the whole weekend off.

Couple questions from reading this post. I'm suppose to manscape? I was not told I was suppose to. I guess out of courtesy I will do just that.

Second how long before the procedure should I pop the valium ?

Not that I am one to turn down some valium, but it really isn't necessary. The actual procedure doesn't hurt and it takes about 5 minutes. If I was to take the valium I would like 30 minutes before go time though. What you really want is the vicodin for afterwards. Sounds like a fine time popping some pain killers and watching some football

Thanks. I figure betters safe then sorry on the valium.

Just woke up from a 3 hour nap.

Procedure.

2 person procedure. Took less the 10 minutes.  Small amount of pain that went away on the left side.  Right side didn't feel a thing.

Goimg start beer soon and see how that goes

So far have not gotten anyone pregnant.

Almost 24 hours after. Very little pain if any. Going to have stretch this out until Sunday for uninterrupted footballl.

This is the time of year that I took the plunge a couple years ago as well.   Insurance deductibles all paid off for the year, so get the venom removed from the snake for cheap!

 Called in September. Couldn't get the initial consult until the end of October. Then the procedure was booked all the way until now.
