VBD/Flex Positions (1 Viewer)

Hey everyone,

This has almost certainly been discussed before but I didn't have much luck finding it, so I thought I would throw it out to the group: What are some of the best ways for thinking about how to incorporate flex position needs into VBD analysis? Is there a passable way to do this before a draft/auction (i.e. before discounting a player's VBD during the actual draft based on remaining need)?

Figure out which players would occupy the flex spots. Add those extra players in as starters in your league parameters at their position. That is... 12 teams, start 2 RB, 3 WR, and 1 flex RB/WR. This means you start 24 RB, and 36 WRs... and 12 more players who could be either RB or WR. So pool RBs 25+ and WRs 37+ and find the 12 highest scoring. Let's say that's 5 RB and 7 WR.So instead of starting 24 RBs, the flex causes you to start those 24 + 5 more RBs as flex = 29 RBs starters. Instead of starting 36 WRs, you start 36+7=43 WRs. Use those as your starting lineup requirements for VBD.If you're using a tool that needs it in terms of number of starting slots per team, just divide by number of teams in the league. 29 RBs over 12 teams is 29/12 = 2.4 starting RBs per team.
