Is Circa sports book rental worth it? Thought I saw something like $175 for Sunday games. Per seat. I’ve always sat for free in Mandalay Bay. Plus I heard Circa doesn’t show horse racing. Sacrilege for a sports book. Any other good options? Don’t mind minimum spend as long as it’s reasonable. Going Dec 9th weekend. Staying at Mandalay Bay

I'd try it one time. That book is nuts.

Or get a day bed or cabana at Stadium Swim.

Looks like I’m headed back out 3/29-4/1. Some good deals to be had on corner suites at Vdara. Seeing a concert Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena makes this a no brainer.

Too cold in December for Stadium Swim

Booked for Dec 13-17. The two weeks between the rodeo and Christmas are what passes for downtime in Vegas; many shows and some restaurants are dark. But that means that values are available. My RT airfare from Austin was $218 and I'm paying $135 all in for four nights at TI. I'm in the player's club, but I'm not Kerry Packer or anything.
TI offers great value. I love staying there, but I'm a middle-aged dude so my opinion is likely in the minority.

Work event last week had me at Virgin, the old Hard Rock. Really nice resort, kinda liked the quiet off-the-strip vibe while being close enough that ubers to the strip were $10. Took wife with me, her first time to the city ever. We didn’t do much, saw Miranda Lambert and ate at Hex (one of my favs). Took her to Fremont and gotta be honest, not at all a place I’ll return if not already hammered; outside of the LED canopy and simply being famous, dirty dirty area that’s not offering much in comparison to the strip.

She enjoyed it, though, and we’ll be planning a return visit for just shows (cirque and concerts). Me and the boys looking at a golf/sportsbook trip next year during the NFL season

Two of Circa's six pools are heated.

just watch out for the crazy’s, some one went nuts on the strip today and killed two and hurt 6 more
Pretty terrible. It was up near Wynn.

I was on the strip outside of Harrahs area at the time. Not too far. Some nut job just randomly started stabbing people completely unprovoked. It’s sad to think this but I’m surprised we don’t hear more of these type of stories happening in Vegas.

My old group used to hit blondies and pbr bar for Sunday games
PBR bar recently closed... they couldn't strike a deal with the Miracle Mile Shops and are going to be relocating. Nothing announced yet.

Circa Sportsbook is worth the money, imo. Nothing like it anywhere. Great vibe and insane view of the games.
I heard the outside pool area for Circa is super loud. To the point it’s annoying. Thoughts?

I would think too that if it’s a major sports event, it would be extremely busy (in and out of pool) which would make me want to avoid.

Back from a long weekend for the FSGA conference.

It's everyone's favorite I know but Lotus of Siam continues to be so good. Tried the Red Rock location and it was stellar.

It's not the normal Las Vegas hotel but I love the Vdara. Next to Aria. Easy walking to just about everything. But way more chill without the casino in the hotel. Very nice.

I ate there on a whim last year. Got 2 seats in front of the kitchen area. Me and my buddy had a nice date.

We had the same excellent server this time as the last time I was there. I asked him about it and he looked around the room and said, "He's been here 7 years, she's been here 6 years, he's been here 7 years..." When a restaurant has that kind of stability, that tells me it's a good place.

I asked him how much David Chang monitors them and he said they've proven to be so good that Chang mostly just let's them do what they want.

I'll be in town for March Madness again this year. Room rates were through the roof with dumps like Luxor going for $400/ night. I'll be sharing a room with 2 other 40 year olds, lol. I'll spend that savings on booze, buckets, and dice.

I've spent one night in the Luxor. Those elevators felt very weird. Not sure I will go back except to the casino floor.

I'll be there for a trade show 3/14 - 3/17, at least I'll be there for the opening games on Thurs.
Luckily got in on a conference room block at Encore for ~$300/night.

Best Friend is a must see as well. It's Roy Choi's restaurant and it's fantastic. Way more casual then Momofuki but off the charts good.

They also have very nice staff.

I was in Vegas Dec for Raiders/Pats. Night before the game around 3 am, I was leaving the Cosmo casino, and walking back to Aria. I go through the mall, cut out the side, and walk into the lobby, cut through the casino, use my card at the elevator, and go up to my floor. I forget my room number, and my key isn't working at my room. I try a few more, and am just walking along the corridor, trying my key. I was tired, and definitely a bit stoned.

i finally walk down to the front desk, and hand my key to the guy, and say,' I cannot get this to work, can you help me out?' Thank god I wasn't being a **** about it.

Guy takes my card, which clearly says Aria on it, types a few things and says, "Mr. massraider? Yes, you are staying at Aria. This is the Vdara Hotel"

No idea, why my key let me in the elevator at Vdara, but good to know.

EDIT: Vdara doesn't have a casino? What the heck did I walk through?

I've had about 3/4 of the menu and it's all been outstanding. https://www.zmenu.com/best-friend-by-roy-choi-las-vegas-online-menu/

For a place with as much schtick as it has, the servers are outstanding. On a couple of visits, I've just let them create an order for us. They also do a chef menu that's sweet.

Kogi Tacos and Kimchi Fried Rice are awesome.
Slippery Shrimp is great.
Street Corn is a must have

The whole fish is great and the fried chicken is great.

I seriously don't think you can go wrong.

The Boulevardier and Old Fashioned drinks are spot on.
