Heading to Vegas next Monday for The Power Platform Conference being held at the MGM.
Plane is supposed to land around 4pm. MGM was booked so staying at Tropicana.

I'm an introvert, so normally on business trips I just eat in my room.
But this is Vegas, and I haven't been there since I was 12 years old, 43 years ago...
So going to try and get out of my comfort zone and go out that first night.

Looking for Recommendations for a dinner at that corner (MGM, Tropicana, New York, or Excalibur ).

Also, any recommendations on types of slot machines to play at any of those Casinos?
I gamble at most 4 times a year here in Wisconsin so just looking for some fun slot machines to play..
Only bringing about $100 for gambling as other than Monday night I'll be busy at the conference from 7am to 10pm the rest of the week.

Other than shows, as I don't have a ton of time, any other recommendations that are within walking distance?

Normally have either a bloody Mary or a beer or a glass of my homemade wine on Friday night and that's it.

Tried Video poker a couple of times at the Wisconsin/Minnesota Indian casinos, but didn't hold my interest for long.

Basically, looking for a couple hours of gambling entertainment, and sightseeing to send some back home to entice the wife in going with me sometime next year to take it all in.

Bro....halfway through the 10 am games take your boys down to Venetian sportsbook. At end of the morning games, scout for seats emptying and take them. Enjoy the Raiders/Chiefs game.

As soon as the game ends, head to Yardbird in the same facility. Enjoy a Blackberry Bourbon Lemonade. Order the Chicken and Waffles (see my link). Uber back to your place pleasantly drunk and full and happy. Vwah Lah.

Yardbird is very good; and have heard great things about Best Friend as mentioned above. I would add STK as well; awesome steakhouse that plays good music. We also really enjoyed Mott32.

What was great/unique about Bazaar Meats? Sort of embarrassed to admit I didn’t even know the Sahara was still there.

Bazaar Meats is awesome. They offer more cuts of meat than other steakhouses, and have a tasting menu that, while quite expensive, is my favorite eating experience in Vegas. They bring out something like four or five different dishes that are spectacular.

Sahara is back... it was closed, opened as SLR, then back to Sahara. It's quite nice, but the location is a huge drawback. There's a chance the north end is revitalized with Resorts World and Fontainebleau (opens is December I believe... casino floor looks amazing!)... heck, even the Strat is pretty nice now. But it's still a bit sketchy in that area, and Circus Circus.

Yeah, I wasn't a huge fan of Yardbird either. That was not because of some undercooked experience though. More of a feeling that it wasn't for me.

They are trying to bring a Southern type of meal to people who haven't had it before. I thought it was fine, but not something to write home about. It's no Arnold's

Don't learn Blackjack on the Vegas Strip with $200. It might last 4 minutes. Not insulting you....Strip minimum bets are high and the odds for the House are worse for you than ever before. Your introvert side is correct.

High Roller is cool. Will you be solo? If I was solo I would not do it.

I'd take my $200 into the High Roller Slots of whatever Casino I'm staying in, put the $200 in a $20/pull Top Dollar Machine, and play till it's gone or I win a nice sized jackpot.

If you're taking the monorail from MGM to Linq, I would recommend staying on it a bit further north to check out the Sphere. The monorail runs right passed it for some of the best views. When I was there last month I only go to see the "moon" display, but it was still pretty damn cool.

For lower rollers (not hating...I'm a lower roller), Ellis Island is awesome. It's not far from the strip and they have $5 tables along with great food specials.

Since you're planning on going that way, if the High Roller isn't for you (it's not for me either... I'm scared of heights now that I'm old), here's my suggestion since you're by yourself:

- Walk the Linq Prominade. It makes for an interesting walk... good people watching, zip lines above, some cheap eats and outside drinks.
-Go to O'Sheas. It's inside Linq. Sit down at a video poker machine, put in $20 and order the frozen Bailey's. That drink is a destination experience for many. I'm usually not into drinks like this, but I'll admit that it's pretty awesome. I stop each trip. (It's like $20 if you're not gambling, but free if there's money in the machine)
-Head towards Harrah's, and stop in the area just between Linq and Harrah's. Carnival Court. There's free live music that's usually pretty good. Drinks are a bit pricey, but they bartenders make them will flair... yay flair.
-Walk into Harrah's, and just to your left will be the Piano Bar. Always free entertainment, and the "Big Elvis" and dueling pianos shows are entertaining. You won't look out of place at all being by yourself.
-Just outside Harrah's to the north is Casino Royale. You can get their rewards card and get $20 in free play. It's really the only old school casino left on the strip, its time is almost up (the property was just approved for a high-rise expansion, so it's almost certainly coming down), and they have $2.99 foot long hot dogs. Bartenders are really great here as well.

If I was going in cold, not knowing a soul, I would find a fairly busy craps table.

You start making noises like you are learning, people will help you out. Craps is the most social of all the table games. It can get confusing with all the bets you can make, but it is very simple at it's core.

if you are staying at the mgm then you can walk across to the oyo casino and play $1.00 black jack there

if you do the high roller then you’ll have a perfect view of the sphere, just stayed at the flamingo last weekend and had a view of the high roller and sphere, that sphere is freaken amazing to see at night

Alright, anyone want to critique my tentative itinerary and tell me what I'm missing (this is the 20-26 of this month) - meeting my brother/sister in law from England there. We've all been once before. We did the High Roller, the day trips to the canyon etc.. on that trip, so trying to fill in some blanks on what we've missed.

Friday night - flight arrives relatively late. Won't do much, get to the hotel, get checked in, unpacked, fool around etc...

Saturday - Probably do a day on the strip, we're at NYNY and like that area but we'll probably just tour around and "do the strip" and see the sights, have some drinks.

Sunday - Sportsbook in the AM for NFL Sunday. I've heard Westgate is cool, could be convinced to do Circa but I'm the only one in the group who cares at all about American Football so can't see the others wanting to pay much for admission - maybe if we did the pool thing they'd go for it. Probably some combination of Arts District/Fremont Street for the remainder of the day - breweries and party etc...

Monday - no day time plans yet - probably do the Sphere Postcards from Earth thing in the evening - wife wants to and it has to be Sunday or Monday while we're there, other dates don't work.

Tuesday - We are going to the Philly/Vegas NHL game in the evening. I'll probably try to keep us near the NYNY area from mid-afternoon on, seems like that area should be a lot of fun on a game day.

Wednesday - thinking maybe TopGolf at some point. We don't have itup here, looks like a good time... No other plans, maybe some more strip or Arts District (I love craft beer and my wife is vegan, this seems to be the go to area for both).

Alright, anyone want to critique my tentative itinerary and tell me what I'm missing (this is the 20-26 of this month) - meeting my brother/sister in law from England there. We've all been once before. We did the High Roller, the day trips to the canyon etc.. on that trip, so trying to fill in some blanks on what we've missed.

Friday night - flight arrives relatively late. Won't do much, get to the hotel, get checked in, unpacked, fool around etc...

Saturday - Probably do a day on the strip, we're at NYNY and like that area but we'll probably just tour around and "do the strip" and see the sights, have some drinks.

Sunday - Sportsbook in the AM for NFL Sunday. I've heard Westgate is cool, could be convinced to do Circa but I'm the only one in the group who cares at all about American Football so can't see the others wanting to pay much for admission - maybe if we did the pool thing they'd go for it. Probably some combination of Arts District/Fremont Street for the remainder of the day - breweries and party etc...

Monday - no day time plans yet - probably do the Sphere Postcards from Earth thing in the evening - wife wants to and it has to be Sunday or Monday while we're there, other dates don't work.

Circa Sportsbook on Sunday is $150 for one stadium seat. Booths are $2500/$3000. Night game not included. Can get a free spot on the overhang but probably have to get there crack of dawn. Pool is more expensive for reserved seats but general admission is I think $40 per person for no reserved spot.

if you're staying at NY/NY maybe try and take in a show on Monday night. MGM has KA but there are plenty of other ones that can be had cheapish this time of year.

No critiques, but a suggestion. You could do NFL Sunday at Top Golf. Either place bets (if you're going to bet) at NYNY before you go, or I think they may have kiosks there. Plenty of tvs to see the games, and your non-football friends would have a ton of fun and not have to pay attention. If you're really wanting the giant screen sportsbook experience dismiss this, just an idea.
