Vegas (1 Viewer)

Quick question. I'm headed to Vegas for the first time this weekend. Staying at Bellagio. Any need to pack a suit to get into their best restaurants? tia.
probably not, but i'd recommend at least some sort of sport coat/dinner jacket.

We took the power generator tour and went all the way downbut inside, pretty cool.Planet hollywood opened up since I was here last, pleasure pit dealers are strippers basically dealing , very niceThe stripper/dealers are the new (year and a half or so) thing in Vegas. Have them at a couple places downtown (Nugget and Binion's) too.
What are they looking for tip wise?
I should rephrase that. They were basically chicks that looked like strippers dressed in lingerie/stripper clothing dealing the table games. I was playing a table next to it but not in it so I don't know if they expect different then "regular" dealers
I've played in the lingirie pits before at the Hard Rock and Red Rock. I don't think there is extra tipping "etiquette" but they'll flirt with you which seems to create a greater tipping percentage naturally. I lost quickly both times I played, but I imagine one can be quite generous when they are receiving winnings from a hot chick while intoxicated. The girls know this.

I thought the catch was that blackjack pays out 6:5 at these tables. At least that's the way it was at the downtown casinos.

Not at the Planet Hollywood, "Pleasure Pit" at Planet Hollywood. I will say, having gambled there quite a bit, there are some really hot ones, and some not so hot ones. And alot of them are very unfriendly. It seems like they have the hot ones dancing at the poles.

If your Harrahs Total Rewards member and even if you haven't played their in years, log into their Total Rewards website and then looks for rooms. I just did this and it showed me the Flamingo for $37 for a Monday and a Tuesday and then Wednesday and Thursday were comped. $74 plus taxes/fees for 4 nights is awesome.

yeah rehab is for the guido crowd and is overcrowded
Exactly, fist-pumpin madness, that ship sailed.
I wish it had never gotten out of dry dock
I know, right? The WORST. HR pool 10 years ago was spectacular.I can think of only two letters I actually fired off in maybe the last 5 years. One, was for this American Airlines agent who went above and beyond getting me to Mexico when I showed up with an expired passport. It was remarkable what that guy did just to get me there; and for free. Anybody else and I woulda missed the trip entirely, no doubt. FF draft, by the way, haha.

The other went to Hard Rock management, lambasting them for letting the pool turn into the Jersey Shore. It was like 10 pages. I was devastated.
Is the pool at Hard Rock like that every day, or just during Rehab, I am staying there in September, opening NFL weekend, and one of the reasons was the pool. ;)
Sunday is the true nightmare. Monday it is actually the best place to be, called Relax, and it's all the nightclub staffs from the city. Laid back day, place is usually about 1/3 full, but great eye candy.Friday and Saturday it won't be as bad, but that crowd will definitely be there. I'd do the Plams pool, Tao Beach, or even Mandalay.

Just got a mailer from them recently. Tons of free nights in blocks at all their hotels, except Caesars (nights go as low as 47 there). Thinking about a stay at Paris Sun til Wed...all free. The wife wants to see O...and then said its like 160/ticket...and I said O...

I think I got the same mailer. I booked 5 nights at Planet Hollywood for 200 bucks total. Not bad at all.

Is the pool like MTV Spring Break on the Shore every day? Yeah, more or less, just not jam-packed like Sundays/Rehab. You have to be staying at the hotel to get into the pool, for the most part, so yeah, it's the same people. Hard Rock's played out. Just look at their room prices and you can tell what kind of crowd they're getting these days. They over-expanded.Still, it won't be the worst thing you can do and the pool will be okay on the other days. Hell, you might even enjoy the fist-pumpers as a side-show. I know people can't get enough of them on TV. My bet? You'll have a good time but will not go back to the HR next time.

Heading to Vegas on Saturday for Jr.'s 21st birthday. Mrs. Smail's and Spaulding's girlfriend also going...Staying at the Hilton timeshare back of the Flamingo, will be hanging at that pool for 2 days. Looking for a great show to take them to on Sunday night. He's seen O, Blue Man Group, etc. Maybe Love?
My wife really enjoyed Love, I didn't see it.Just got back from my 2nd trip to Vegas. Just me and wifey again. She did meet up with one of her friends for a few hours.

The first time was a while ago and we saw shows, walked the whole strip and hit 4 night clubs.

This time was more laid back, I'm not a club guy and don't understand waiting in long lines to pay 30 to just enter aclub, but that's me. We basically just ate at all the small shoppes had one nice meal and hung out.

Things seem different than 5 years ago. Strip is dirtier than I remember, guys with the hooker cards are more agressive than I remember.

A lot more ###/hoochie dresses running around than I recall, this goes in the plus column ,)

Overall nice trip as we pretty much just got drunk and gambled. Wife did get a picture of lebron on the dance floor, while out at a club one night with her girlfriend.

The MGM has changed from what I remember. Didn't remember the sportsbook being that big.

I don't party that much anymore so I trip was pretty tame for vegas :(

I know its a horrible game but I'm addicted to mississippi stud

ETA: One thing I love about Vegas is the dealers are so much more friendlier than in Atlantic City.

Plus in AC if you don't know how to play a game patrons AND dealers are annoyed if you are a noob. I know how to play most games but Vegas you can talk on your phone, take pictures, the delaers are very relaxed especially on the low limit tables. A much more "FUN" experience than in AC even if your not new.
I think the face of Vegas really changed with all those towers they put in...and with the economy and all, it could not have come at a worse time. It turned the strip into a downtown with a big city feel to it. And along with it came the riff-raff. Who wants to walk through any of that? It looks like ####, too. Horrible, horrible decision to open those floodgates. Those high-rises should have been put on the west side of the freeway, keeping the strip, the strip.Although I will say, for a group of guys with a little dough, buying one of those penthouses on the cheap, and turning it into a personal getaway for years to come, could be money.

Gotta say that does look "out of place" , "crammed" there, but maybe it's just me "shrug".The guys with the hookers cards were always there but they get in your face now it feels :moneybag: maybe I'm just older

Ok looking for a suggestion on the following:

I don't really care what hotel we stay at.

A few guys traveling to Vegas

Looking for the casino that has the closest proximity/ease of access to strip clubs

Are any casinos located with walking distance to any of the decent clubs?

Yes I am aware there are cabs, but humor me on this. Circus Circus appears to be somewhat close....?

I'm glad this came up for discussion. I was out there in April and they had the stripper pole sections in Mandalay, Luxor, Hard Rock, pretty much everywhere we played. Now, I'm certainly not against scantily clad women dancing on a pole whenever they feel so inclined, but I don't totally get this. I guess I kind of thought it was cheap. Who is this for? The guys who really want to gamble but also really want to get to the Rhino at some point? And what girl does this? Why not just go all the way and at least make some good money?

I wonder how much it would cost to pool like 20 people to get one of the condos on the strip? Wonder what annual maintenance charges would be compared to hotel rates.

Heading back for round 2 this year...this time with the wife.

Paris 9/11 for three nights $97 total (Sun/Mon comped). Red eye home so essentially 4 full days.

Opening weekend for NFL, so I'll take it no matter how it comes. :lmao:

I like Paris, spent most of my time playing the god awful mississippi stud there, we had a 2 for 1 eiffel tower coupon, that was pretty cool

Got an offer in the mail for $54 a night (including weekends) at the hilton.....cashing that in for opening NFL weekend :tinfoilhat:

ETA: price includes 2 free buffets & 2 free cocktails

I would like to humor you, but this is a safety issue. Do not do this. Five guys to a cab makes them pretty cheap. The distances are not un-walkable, but you do NOT want to walk to Dean Martin (or the I15 access road) at night. You're going to drop hundreds, maybe thousands, at the club. If you have a big group, call the club, they might send you a limo.

The Hard Rock is the way to go as they have beautiful women inside and a 45 yard walk to The Paradise Club across the street. You're welcome.

Who has seen "O"? Was it good/worth $300? Was it your first experience of Cirque du Soleil?

I've seen "Zumanity" in Vegas and thought it was good...but it was also strange and comical at times. I don't think "O" will be anything like that.

Just my opinion, but I wasn't overly impressed with "O". If I had a choice to go see any of them for free, I'd go to Mystere (or Love) before I'd go to "O".

Anyone play any of the weekday NL tournys at Caesars and, if so, how would you rate the general skill level?
I did once. It's a nice room, pretty well run tourney. Generally Caesars draws the better players. If you are playing to have fun it's a good tournament to enter, but if you are playing for the main purpose to make money there are better options.

Girlfriend and I planning a trip...... Arriving Wed. Sept. 8th and leaving Sat. Sept. 11th

- Where would be the best place for us to watch the first NFL game of the season on Thursday, Sept. 9th?

- Any tame hold 'em tourneys over that time ($100 entry or so) that anybody knows of?

- Any other recommendations for us over that time period....clubs, shows, restaurants, etc. ?

One of the best things we (wife and I) did when we went was go to the Price is Right Show (I forget which casino). You're a member of the audience, and answer questions via handheld device for a chance to be a contestant. Rodger Lodge (Blind Date host I think) happened to be the host when we were there. Pretty good time :jawdrop:As for watching the game....depends on what else you're doing that day. All the books are likley gonna be packed, so I'd pick the closest one that fits your schedule.

Looking for advice on bottle service. Open to just about any club, just want an idea on cost and get any firsthand accounts. Group is going to be 4-6 guys on a Friday (5/21) or Saturday night (5/22). I figure we don't stand much chance getting in without a table given that group dynamic. My buddies seem to like hanging out a the Palms but the clubs there don't seem to rank as well as others I'm reading about. What should we expect to spend? How long do we have the table? Any recommendations?
With a group that size you're looking at 2 bottles in the 300-500ea range depending on the club. Most big clubs will run you about $1000-1200 once it's all said and done (2 Bottles, tip to waitress, tip to host, tip to bouncers).
What's the best economical advice on a night of clubbin' for a couple (just me and my gf)? How much should we expect to spend when all is said and done? Want to have fun, but don't want to spend a $1,000 with bottles, etc. for one night of partying.

Venetian has good tournaments from what I hear. I play almost strictly 1-2 NL up there so I'm not that familiar with the tournaments.

Ok this will vary. Where are you staying? The first time I went, I worked with the Concierge at the Venetian. I was able to get VIP entrance into 4 clubs. Studio 54, Tryst, Tao and I forget the other one. Had to get there before 11 I think but we did roll into Tryst around 11:30 with no problems. All that did for us was skip all cover charge and bypass the lines. TAO there was actually a pretty big VIP line. This last time we were staying cheap so we had to do most of the stuff ourselves. My wife would pick out the club she wanted to go to and talk to the host during the day. Basically all she got was free entrance and skip the lines (note mostly all woman usually get free entrance)Even though I was with her it cost me $30. We decided to just skip the clubs this trip. Drinks will cost anywhere from $8 (beer) to $25 each. You are going to wait in long lines to get in most places.

I highly recommend the Venetian tournament. It starts at 7 PM every night, I think. It's 120 entry, and an additional 10 or so for extra chips. It's been about 6 months since I last played, so those numbers might be a little off. I've played in it three times and won it once (well, really the final 3 of us chopped, but it sounds better if I say I won it), finished just out of the money another time, and finished in about 30th place the third time. It's really a pretty soft tournament, at least when I've played it.

Monte Carlo has an uncrowded sportsbook and a NICE brew bar/restaraunt.Dont know about hold em tourneysSee "O". Best Cirque show going.

Mrs. Smails and I took my son and his gf to Vegas for his 21st birthday last weekend. Some thoughts:

1) Went to see "O" (I've seen Mystere and my son chose "O" as the one show he wanted to see in town). Searched on Craigslist, and ended up getting $165 tix (sec 103, dead center, 10 rows back) in a private auction on eBay for $110 each. Thought it was a great show, captivating. Went to the Bellagio buffet after. Thought it was good but not great - though the prime rib and turkey were excellent. Did watch some high stakes poker - some monster pots.

2) -5 bar at Mandalay is ultra cool. A little pricey, but worth doing once. Nothing like sippin' vodka in a room carved out of ice. We also went to Red Square, which now pales in comparison.

3) Went to Sushi Roku at Caesar's for son's birthday. Thought it was outstanding, and very quick service. Also, beautiful room with a great view of the strip.

4) Stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club at the Flamingo. Terrific suites and access to the Flamingo pool. Pool scene was jammin' on Saturday, very crowded. Not as good as the Mandalay Bay, but with Adam Lambert playing at the Beach that night it wasn't goin' to be my crowd. Just sayin'...NTTAWWT

5) Went to Brad Garrett's Comedy Club at the Tropicana. I'm used to getting into the Improv for cheap so $42 not including drinks seems steep to me. Still, great show and one guy, Butch Bradley, was freakin' hilarious.

6) Rocked the Race/Sports book at Caesar's - still one of the best in town. Sunday's races paid for our whole trip.

7) Took son downtown for some inexpensive gambling. The Fremont Experience is actually pretty cool, as is the shark tank at the Golden Nugget. That being said, I was shocked to see $10 tables open on a weekend night at the Bellagio. Son said Hooters had $3 blackjack - but I don't think that's all he was interested in there.

8) It's actually worth it to walk along the strip now. I've always been one to get to a hotel (usually Mandalay Bay) and not come out until my flight home. But son wanted to walk along the strip, and there were many more bars, stores, restaurants, etc. Get hungry and can actually grab a hot dog from Pink's. Not bad.

9) Son had mexican food at Pink Taco at the Hard Rock. I was busy hittin' exactas at Caesar's and didn't go, but he said it was good. Wife thought it was just OK.

10) I remember being drunk Sat night and hungry. Next to the Tropicana Buffalo Bill's had $4.99 Rib Eye Steak and Eggs after midnight. Saved me - very good.

If you want to see "O", my connection was Patty, email address is pcllas@yahoo.com. I think she gets comped tickets and sells them. 100% rating on EBay. Gets them a few days before the show and delivers them directly to your hotel. Sure enough, I had the Bellagio envelope with the tickets inside waiting for me as promised. Highly recommend her. I think she only gets 2-4 tix per performance so inquire early.

Gets them a few days before the show and delivers them directly to your hotel. Sure enough, I had the Bellagio envelope with the tickets inside waiting for me as promised. Highly recommend her. I think she only gets 2-4 tix per performance so inquire early.
Thanks for the info.

GF emailed the below list of hotels to me to get your guys' opinion. Looking for a combination of nice rooms, good location, reasonable price. She's an architectural designer so interior aestethetics and overall modern design is important to her. Thoughts? The Hotel at Mandalay BayPalmsMGMWynn

I've only played in the Flamingo and O'sheys ones...where else could I go near the Flamingo for a little bigger tourney?
Venetian has good tournaments from what I hear. I play almost strictly 1-2 NL up there so I'm not that familiar with the tournaments.
Cool, thanks. How many entrys do they typically get?
Somewhere around 80-100 people played in the three I played in.

Did watch some high stakes poker - some monster pots.2) -5 bar at Mandalay is ultra cool. A little pricey, but worth doing once. Nothing like sippin' vodka in a room carved out of ice. We also went to Red Square, which now pales in comparison.9) Son had mexican food at Pink Taco at the Hard Rock. I was busy hittin' exactas at Caesar's and didn't go, but he said it was good. Wife thought it was just OK.
1) - thansk for the tip - I'm looking to get into LOVE on the cheap. Anyone have any ideas?2) what? I have to look this up, I had not heard this one.9) LOL - great name.

Got a comped room at Flamingo for a bachelor party trip this Labor Day weekend. Haven't stayed at the Flamingo for a few years, looking forward to it as it is my favorite combination of location, price and pool.Without backtracking thru the whole thread, any recommendations on the best way to do the rounds at the gentlemen's clubs with a big group of guys?
Drunk and with a super rich dude to pay for it all?
Unfortunately, don't know any super rich dude's (I mean, we're talking FBG money super rich, right!)

Thanks. Just received this email from her and there is a mention of the Wynn. Anybody see this "Zumanity" show?

This City Center is supposed to be a big deal – lot’s of Star Architects each designed a different hotel. We’ll need to check it out – not sure we can afford to stay there but I can research more tomorrow. There is shopping and restaurants there so at the least we can check that out. Also, Olsen and I have been emailing about trying to get a date on the calendar and so after I told her we are going there and that I am interested in the naughty Cirque show she said we will absolutely love it – it’s called Zumanity and it’s at the NY NY hotel. She was in Vegas for a Harley show and went by herself – she said it’s incredible. She also said to check out The Encore at Wynn for rooms – apparently a younger crowd but she said the rooms are great.

Appreciate the tips on where to watch football, keep them coming. I used to go to the ESPN Zone in NYNY for the big screens and it's proximity to the sports book, but it closed down. Now, have to find somewhere new.
