The Strip is pretty desolate once you get past the Encore. The Frontier and Stardust are holes in the ground. Fontainebleau and the Plaza aren't going to be finished this decade, if ever. With the Sahara going dark, all that's left is the Riviera which is worse than the Sahara IMO and CC, which is in its own bizarre class. There are a bunch of vacant lots with the occasional gift shop and condo tower. The Peppermill is still pretty cool though. The death and failed redevelopment of the North Strip really hurt a property like the Sahara. There's very little reason for most visitors to ever make it that far North.Place is a dump. It's time.Why?Hopefully.For good? The Sahara is closing May 16th.
First time I was ever out there a few people told us Don't walk past The Wynn at night. If you want to go to the Stratosphere take a cab. Once you get North of the Strat (and south of Fremont) things can get a little sketchy. Yeah it was weird. Don't forget the rollercoaster.Seriously though, the rooms were decent for the price and the casino usually had some low-limit tables open. For those of us that don't use $100 bills to light $1000 on fire like Chet the Sahara wasn't too bad.Sounds like a great trip.Complete #### show this morning. Got to bed at 7. I either slept through or didn't get my wake up call. Woke up at 11 and was able to make my 1240 flight. Oh, I also lost my license and somehow talked my way through security. I blame roofies. j/k I lost my ID last weekend, I just got too drunk and forget which bar I ended up at since I lost my CC too (no record on my bank account).Complete #### show this morning. How was the Aria? I'm staying there as a first timer in June. Chose because its newer and 'center' strip. Any tips on what part of the hotel to request when I get there? Would like city view, but paid for regular room -- if I can swing an upgrade there, sweet, if not, not that big of a deal.Leaving Sunday for 4 days. Staying at Aria, planning some slots and hold em. Maybe check out Zumanity, wife wants to see it.
Next week??I am gonna be there Friday night...Just sayin.Leaving on Friday (can't wait), staying at the Monte Carlo. We have tickets for Mystere (wish I would have looked at this thread first in regards to getting discounts from the lady patti). We haven't been in 5 years what other restaurants or stuff is everyone been too.
Aria is Great. You should really enjoy it. We had a corner, city view suite last year, regular room with desert view this year. Not really that big of a deal because Aria sits back a little from the strip, so you don't get that much of a view. I will tell you the easiest way out is to go thru casino to front desk, go left thru City Center by English Pub and out the East exit. Allows easy access to Strip or overhead bridge to Planet Hollywood on the other side. Won about 400 in an hour at roulette. Hit on slots a lot, but nothing larger than 525. Also at City Center is Cosmopolitan hotel. The pool there is on the 4th floor and overlooks the strip. A great relaxing place to hang out and grab a drink with no need for a room key either. please expand further on "craps farm."Still not sure how I feel about the Aria casino layout. I don't like shooting dice into what amounts to a craps farm.
At first, I liked the idea of a "craps farm," but after your description now I hate it. I especially hate the idea of a super huge craps table.I will definitely check these out in a couple of months. If you come in from the strip the basic casino layout is like this:As you walk down the center you are in a very narrow casino. To the left and right are the normal card games the dealers are facing the center of the casino. (this is fairly similar to cosmo)About 300 feet down or so there's a break in the casino with a bar, elevators, other misc. crap. On the other side of this break the casino widens up a bit. They set the craps table in the back of this wider area in two "blocks" of 9 craps tables each set in 3x3 bricks. They are the super huge tables too. The ones that the whores can't ever seem to keep dice on the table with. So here you are in the very, very back of the casino with nothing really to see but other people shooting dice. It's odd.

Thanks for the insight so far. I'm really looking forward to it. While I'm not a huge gambler, I'll certainly play my fair share (within budget). If you remember, what is the closest fast food but not a McDonalds place to eat. In & Out is an option, there are several within a few blocks. Planet Hollywood is across the street, both they and Aria have light snack/sandwich menus. There are several sandwich shops on the Strip between the airport and Aria. Also Harley cafe and Hard Rock are within a block of Aria on the Strip, just a half-block to the south on the opposite side. I'm pretty sure there was a pizza place further south, but I don't recall where exactly. Thanks for the insight so far. I'm really looking forward to it. There is a Fat Burger right across from te Monte Carlo and next to the Paris. Trying to set up some dates?Just a heads up: I'll be in Vegas pretty much the next four weekends starting with April 9th. Anyone up for a beer or play some poker with the guy behind the FFA Woz let me know.

N9ne at the Palms. Best in the city.Staying at Planet Hollywood July 4th weekend. Staying for free, got an offer in the mail. But the flight is going to cost alot.UFC fight that Saturday (unfortunate that it could be the worst pay per view card I have seen). Can't wait.Any good steakhouse suggestions?I ate at strip steak, Carnevino, and Botero. Looking for a new place to try.

As long as they still have money in their pocket and ##### on their breath, they can die in my hotel room any time. It's too bad you don't live the lavish lifestyle like the rest of us, DD. It feels good way up here. Some of Chet's friends will probably end up dead in your hotel room, if that's cool.
