Monorail takes way too much time, there aren't enough stops and some of the stations are hard to find unless you know exactly where you're going IMO. I guess that's where you were going with "know the monorail system"....but figured I'd expand a tadThe Duce bus is a fine option to get from the strip to downtown and you can't beat the price.
Know the monorail system to navigate the strip.
need to get there in a hurry or sick of walking then uber/taxi.
The kiosks work, or you could try your hotel concierge. The very best Cirque show ("O") will not have tickets available at the kiosks though. What's the best way to get discount Cirque type show tickets? Has anyone bought tickets from the those sidewalk kiosks?
Longest we waited for the monorail was about 5 minutes.Monorail takes way too much time, there aren't enough stops and some of the stations are hard to find unless you know exactly where you're going IMO. We stayed at Cosmopolitan. Went to Marquee Monday night. Boogie Cousins and Willie Cauley Stein were hanging around out front. There were lots of very tall men inside, but it was too dark/strobe lighty to tell who was who (and I was quite inebriated).I'll be there 11th-15th for a conference. Last year a lot of those guys hung out in the Venetian. Ran into Karl Anthony Towns there and got a pic with him, saw quite a few other guys as well.
can you unpack this?If anyone watches some of the more well known slot machine YouTubers...I joined a $5000 slot pool with SDGuy, Brent, and Diana while out there as well. We played Christmas Story for $62.50 a spin...insanity.
I have a coupon code for the Venetian that will get you a $150 resort credit with a 2 night stay. I can't see on my phone what the rate is for your nights, but it might be worth a look. Code is: KEVCRTPlanet Hollywood has a good deal too. From what I recall that's RIGHT in the center of the strip walkable to the Bellagio with ease (I want to mainly play poker) right?
Umm--if you re looking for a basic place to sleep and shower---the Luxor is adequate. It's a bit isolated on the South side of the strip--nearest hotels would be the Excalibur and the Mandalay Bay. They do have a free light monorail that will take you to each of those hotels from the Luxor. You probably won't be all that impressed by any room service offered to you at the Luxor--so I can't say that I recommend that. With that being said--DO NOT CANCEL THE LUXOR TO STAY AT THE STRAT!! The stratosphere is isolated on the far north end of the strip-well beyond Circus Circus/SLS and the accommodations are equal to Luxor at best. The MGM grand would be my choice out of those three. Better location--better hotel--more dining options--only con would be it is a very large hotel-which means you'll probably have a very long check in line on a Friday/Saturday night. Another poster mentioned Planet Hollywood--and I agree that it is also a nice choice that would be an upgrade from the Luxor. Hope that helps.Leaving the woman behind in Virginia and headed out to LV for 2nd weekend of NFL solo (although there's a few FBGs going to cornhole that week doing the same as me).
I've been 3 or 4 times to Vegas. Always wanted to try the Luxor Pyramid rooms mainly because they look cool, so I booked The Luxor.
My god, the reviews are horrid. As a guy, flying solo, wanting to sit in a poker room (probably Uber/Taxi/Talking to Venetian) and bet on football / drink all weekend is staying at a hotel with really ####ty old rooms really matteR? I'll be sleeping 3-5 hours a night, using the room to shower and to maybe eat some room service food in.
Still plenty of time to cancel, so appreciate the advice now.
Paying $497 for three nights btw (Friday night through Monday morning). I don't have any hook ups for #### in Vegas and not near enough points on my Harrahs card to make anything worth it.
2nd best deal was at the Strat
3rd best deal was MGM Grand.
TIA
there were 3 popular YouTube content providers there. they invited 7 people to join them in $5000 of high limit play. so, we put $1k into each of 5 machines and played them until they were either 2k or 0. the results were then split back out between the 10 players.can you unpack this?
Most are run by room key access. When you check in, just ask for three keys. Can anyone comment on guests use of pools? If a group of 3 people book a room, Mandalay Bay or instance, will the hotel provide pool passes for just 2 guests or all 3?
I just noticed these listed restrictions on some booking sites.
Not for nothing Kutta, that was a really cool thing for you to do.I have a coupon code for the Venetian that will get you a $150 resort credit with a 2 night stay. I can't see on my phone what the rate is for your nights, but it might be worth a look. Code is: KEVCRT
Hooter Casino Hotel!!!Rolling with PH. I need a good balance of price/convenience given that I'm going alone. I know PH is walkable to everywhere. I'm not looking for a resort. I need somewhere to park my ### a few hours a night while I walk to the Aria or Bellagio to play poker/bet on NFL. That's it. I think PH is that sweet spot.
Appreciate the feedback guys.
And if anyone is going 2nd week of NFL, send me a note.
If the price is anywhere near Luxor, I'd pick PH everyday for the location alone.PH is a nice choice over Luxor. Location is one of the best. Some quick places to eat in the attached mall also.
betterbidding? Or why confident it was Mandalay?PH is a nice choice over Luxor. Location is one of the best. Some quick places to eat in the attached mall also.
Wife and I just booked Sun 9/11 leaving Thu 9/15. I used Hotwire (confidently) and got Mandalay for $74/nt (plus resort fees). When I looked at booking on Mandalays site, it was coming out around $1100. Pretty good deal I'd say.
price is usually very different, at least for me.If the price is anywhere near Luxor, I'd pick PH everyday for the location alone.
One thing about being at the Luxor is that you have close proximity to Excalibur if you're a poker player. Lots of drunken frat boys dying to give you their money.

the whole thing was recorded and will be part of a future YouTube show.
I did check out betterbidding, I've used that site a few times.betterbidding? Or why confident it was Mandalay?
Cosmo - Chandelier barWhat are some cool bar-lounges on the strip (hotel casino lobbies)? Are there any with free live music just to have some drinks at before/after dinner?
No music, but the ever-changing eye candy more than makes up for it.Cosmo - Chandelier bar
I can vouch for this. Kevzilla speaks the troof. No music, but the ever-changing eye candy more than makes up for it.
The sports bar at the venetian is great. If you want to hang there all day Sunday, I'd recommend placing your bets Saturday night and asking for a couple reserved seats. I'm not sure how much you need to bet (I usually bet about $1k and that gets me a couple seats). You may not have to bet that much though. After going back and forth on location, we settled on The Venetian for 11/11-11/14. Got a nice deal through Costco, including $150 room credit.
Great weekend of football on paper, including Stanford at Oregon, just about all the SEC games, and Michigan at Iowa in college and Vikings/Skins, Chiefs/Panthers, Cowboys/Steelers and the nightcap of Seahawks at Pats in the NFL. I'm so freaking excited. Wish I was leaving for it tomorrow.
I still haven't been part of a hand pay from a slot machine. And the results?
(we'll keep it here)
Thanks Kutta. Yeah I don't roll as high as you do, so we'll see about the reserved seats. The sports bar at the venetian is great. And be sure to try Yardbird for lunch or dinner one night.
I don't think we're going to post up all day Sunday anyway. Probably wander around during the early games and maybe play some blackjack, then find a good place for the afternoon games and the Sunday nighter. The last couple of years we've sat in one place for 14 hours on Sunday and we always feel terrible afterwards. These old bones need some movement! You don't need to gamble much to get discounts with Total Rewards. If you book online through the Total Rewards website you still get a discounted rate.Leaving the woman behind in Virginia and headed out to LV for 2nd weekend of NFL solo (although there's a few FBGs going to cornhole that week doing the same as me).

Yeah this place is legit. Try the St. Louis Style Pork Ribs (they were out of short ribs the night I ate there).kutta said:And be sure to try Yardbird for lunch or dinner one night.
Watching games at the Palazzo at Emeril's Stadium is very cool. you have to get reservations in advance and there is a minimum for every 3 hours you are there. After going back and forth on location, we settled on The Venetian for 11/11-11/14. Got a nice deal through Costco, including $150 room credit.

Minimum food/drink purchase?Watching games at the Palazzo at Emeril's Stadium is very cool. you have to get reservations in advance and there is a minimum for every 3 hours you are there.
Think it's $50/person for college and $100/person for NFLMinimum food/drink purchase?
I think it's $50 minimum for every 3 hours for NFL. I remember getting some breakfast and then some lunch items, so I made the $50 no problem.Think it's $50/person for college and $100/person for NFL
We have four people going there for the UFC fights in two weeks. We have a $100 minimum per person for the evening. Not too bad a deal.Think it's $50/person for college and $100/person for NFL
There's no book there, though, is there? The loft at cabo wabo is a hidden gem. Tons of tv's and no minimum. I always worry it wont be open anymore since it is always dead. One time they just gave me the remote since we were the only people up there. We always verify the day before that it is still open.
