I think everybody who has posted in this thread that has been to MGM will second this suggestion. A+ steak, and make sure you get the monkey breadTom Colicchio's Craftsteak is at the MGM. Had a nice meal there in June.

I'm a fan. Good wine list, too.Yeah Craftsteak is legit. Best steak I've had in vegas, IMO.
Always... always...Anybody else see this thread bumped and think "Man, I gotta get back to Vegas soon?"
I just got back from a 4 day visit. I'm beat. It'll be a good 5 years before I even think about going back.Anybody else see this thread bumped and think "Man, I gotta get back to Vegas soon?"

I was just there a couple weeks ago and I'm going back at the end of September and back again in March. I'm already itching for the September trip.Went in early July and Im already ready.
Cant see it happening anytime soon. :(
Cirque du Soleil imo, either "O" or "Mystere."Proposing to my gf next Wednesday when we wake up then her and I are hopping a flight to Las Vegas. Our families are meeting us out there Thursday for the George Strait concert on Friday. She thinks her and I are heading out Thursday, but I talked to her boss to get her Wednesday off and so we will have 2 days/one night alone before everyone else gets there. Suggestions on things to do, places to eat? Maybe a nice dinner/show on Wednesday night? Anything else? We are staying at MGM Grand if that matters. I know, not the best hotel, but I'm paying for 6 rooms so it is what it is! Thanks guys

Wife and I have been going 10 times a year for about 3 years now. All comes crashing to a halt in October since a baby is on the way soon. Not sure how I will handle that.I was just there a couple weeks ago and I'm going back at the end of September and back again in March. I'm already itching for the September trip.
I love that place.
Good lord. My liver punched me in the throat just for reading that.Wife and I have been going 10 times a year for about 3 years now. All comes crashing to a halt in October since a baby is on the way soon. Not sure how I will handle that.
Do you travel a lot, or do you just mostly prefer Vegas?Wife and I have been going 10 times a year for about 3 years now. All comes crashing to a halt in October since a baby is on the way soon. Not sure how I will handle that.
We travel a lot, but we pretty much stick to the same 5-6 places. We have a disney timeshare so we go there a lot too. We go to New York about twice a year. Colorado once a year, DC once a year, and then we throw one oddball in there every year. Last few have been Scottsdale, Atlanta, boston, baltimore, cancun.Do you travel a lot, or do you just mostly prefer Vegas?
We do a similar thing, but not quite as much as you. My wife and I go about 3 times a year to Vegas (I go at least twice with buddies also), we hit San Diego at least once and NY usually once or twice. Then we throw in a big vacation too.We travel a lot, but we pretty much stick to the same 5-6 places. We have a disney timeshare so we go there a lot too. We go to New York about twice a year. Hit the road and go hike in the nearby mountains and see the sun come up. At least once it is worth it.My wife and I struggled for many years to be able to travel. We had kids too early. Now that our youngest is 16 and we are in a much better financial situation, we try to travel as much as we can. Just in the past few years we've started hitting places like Vegas, Punta Cana, Jamaica, and various spots stateside. We loved Savannah... We've agreed that we want to hit new places and not keep going to the same places. She grew up going on vacation to the beach in South Carolina when the family went on vacation. Have family there and it was always a chance to see the relatives... We have Aruba, San Diego, Key West and many others on the TO-DO list. D
That being said, we plan on hitting Vegas at least once a year. We both like gambling, hit the shows.. We have a blast there. The last time we went, it was only for 3 days. I had this great plan.. Instead of trying to adjust to the time change (coming from EST), we'll just go to bed when we are tired and drunk. Get up like we are still on EST and not deal with the jet lag. That's all fine and dandy until you wake up at 4am! WTF are we going to go at 4am?![]()
Just something about that place.... It's the only exception to our "Not going to visit again" list.
Not on the strip, but I always enjoy the LVH. They have two areas to watch the games. One is your standard sports book area, the other is this theater with stadium seating (comfy) and all the games on a huge screen. They have pretty inexpensive food and drinks all day, breakfast in the morning and lunch later on. I have never had an issue getting a seat or even a group of seats together if you are going with friends.Hi
Whats the best place on the strip to watch week 1games? Some place where i can actually get a seat sunday morning.... thanks
LVH .... you mean the Westgate? Yeah, that got pretty crowded for me last year during the season.....Not on the strip, but I always enjoy the LVH. They have two areas to watch the games. Oh I guess they did change the name didn't they. I only go once a year during football season and try to make it over in the morning. Do all casinos also broadcast PPVs (UFC, Boxing, etc) free on their big screens?
The Venetian sports book is nice and pretty big. If you get there before the early games you should be able to find a seat. I've wandered down a bout 45 minutes before the games and had no problem.Hi

Haven't seen too many shows. So I cant offer any advice here.@Dentist @kutta @parasaurolophus any of you got suggestions on seating at Absinthe? Looking at tickets, it seems to be about $150/person for the VVIP seating (first row) and about $90/person for a 5-person table in the back. We have five people, cost isn't as big an issue as comfort and quality. Apparently first row is cushioned seating and you're *in* the action. Back section is further away, but everything I read said the views are just as good and some people say it's a better experience since you have a little more room and your own table and stuff. Thoughts?
I think Mirage is a minimum action of a grand to reserve. We got there @ 7:00 and had our choice of seats without reservations. I would recommend sitting in the middle of the seating. We were in back and ended up with dozens of dbags lined up behind us thru the day.No worries. I saw you made a bunch of posts so I took a shot. Got any advice on the Mirage sports book? I know I read something earlier in the thread that there was sort of a minimum to bet to reserve seating in the book. I've never been there on an NFL weekend before, so I'm not sure how that works. Do I lay a bunch of money Saturday night to ensure a seat Sunday? And if so, is there another minimum on Sunday that I'll need to have in play?
i sat about 4 rows back, it was perfect, i'm not sure there's a bad seat in the house@Dentist @kutta @parasaurolophus any of you got suggestions on seating at Absinthe? I have had very good luck getting reserved seating at the Wynn, which is not very far from the Mirage(I realize not very far is different for some people). From Mirage just cross the street go into venetian, walk through palazzo, take bridge to the wynn. Get there early enough and you will see somebody writing out the "reserved for" sheets and putting them at seats. My last two trips during NFL season I just went there early and got two seats reserved. She never even asked me how much I wagered. I did have all the tickets I had just bet in my hand because I thought they would ask. Had probably 10-12 tickets for about 20 bucks each both times. No worries. big renovations too there, a lot nicer than it was a few years agoOh I guess they did change the name didn't they. I only go once a year during football season and try to make it over in the morning. I have never seen Absinthe so I can't help there. Regarding sports books, I think the Venetian sports book is much better then Mirage. I usually bet $1k on the games and I do that Saturday night and it's enough to get me two reserved seats for all day Sunday. I'm not sure if that's the magic number or not, but it works for me. It is awesome having a reserved spot because you can roam without fear of losing it.No worries. I saw you made a bunch of posts so I took a shot. Got any advice on the Mirage sports book? I hate the venetian sports book. It is like sitting at a slot machine and watching the games. Those tv screen gaming consoles at every seat suck. I don't even ever use those. I just like the layout and they have a couple of really nice big screens. And like you said, the food options are great.I hate the venetian sports book. At least the food options right there at venetian are really good.
And you can go grab a six-pack for a reasonable price at the Walgreens during a commercial in your favorite game.I don't even ever use those. I just like the layout and they have a couple of really nice big screens. And like you said, the food options are great.
Yea, thats a pretty safe bet. Priceline.com lists it as the only 4* downtown. And the tripadvisor rating and # of comments matches up as well.shot in the dark, but anyone done hotwire lately for the golden nugget? from what i gather online, that's the only 4* property downtown.
I've never been there for opening weekend, so I'm not sure if this holds for all weeks, but 8 AM should be fine. How many seats do you need? They have remodled and they have added a bunch of bar seats near the back. Those actually aren't that bad and you shouldn't have any problem getting one. I've gone down at 9:15 and gotten one of the bar seats.I'm going to be at Venetian this weekend and want to watch nfl at sports book with my friends I'm going with, What is the shark play for getting a seat? Nfl starts at 10am there.. Is 8am early enough?

Still, if you guys are going to bet, you're better off pooling your bets, going Saturday night, and asking for a reserved seat for Sunday. Of course, if you're only betting a few bucks, that probably won't work.
That's a lot. Probably just need to get down there early. You should at least be able to secure the bar seats.5 seats
