Is there any information on the injury? Can this thread serve to post info and discussion of the injury's impact? Last I heard was a rib injury, but now some Twitter messages say collarbone.

Vick injury on Sporting News

PHILADELPHIA -- Michael Vick, who came into the Redskins-Eagles game as the NFL's third-ranked passer and tops in yards per carry, was taken into the locker room for X-rays late in the first quarter. The Eagles announced that Vick had a rib and chest injury and would not return to the game.

Vick was injured when sandwiched between former Falcons teammate DeAngelo Hall and Kareem Moore on a brilliant run that was called back by a penalty on guard Max Jean-Gilles with 26 seconds left in the first quarter and Philadelphia trailing 14-0.

Kevin Kolb, initially named the Eagles starter this season, replaced Vick. Kolb missed substantial time earlier in the season after suffering a Week 1 concussion -- an injury that opened the door for Vick to take over the starting job.

Derrick Gunn on CSN Philly's Eagles Post Game show is reporting could be 3 broken ribs, and possibly out up to 6 weeks. Still too early to say for sure though.

This sucks for everyone who owns Vick, McCoy, Jackson, and Maclin. It's only going to go downhill for Kolb as teams gameplan and their schedule gets tougher.

Eagles said there will be an MRI tomorrow for Michael Vick. Significant MRI. less than 10 seconds ago via ÜberTwitter

Definitely a bump to Celek though. He was MIA with Vick in there. Kolb will bring him back.

6 weeks? Ouch, I was hoping like 2 weeks....at least this was the stretch where they play a bunch of solid defenses and Vick would start being Vick again.

I think you still hold onto Vick if its six weeks. He would be back by week 11 or 12 and could help a team surge into the playoffs.

I think it really depends on your roster size. My wife is actually in one where you can only keep 2. Her other is Orton, she can start him but on a bye, she'll have to pick someone else up and drop Vick.If you have a huge roster size, sure stash him away but there are leagues out there where you're forced to make REALLY tough decisions. Personally I'm starting to like leagues like that, not where you can IR players all over and keep 4 Qb's on a roster.

trading down?oh and what a  breaker... from a 30 yard scramble td (well at 1/2 but that is where I was with my hands in the air) to injured and called back on holding. :kicksrock:cmon good news! I like the 'neg' x ray news though...

Jeff Garcia a possible return? Would be stupid imo. They spent so much money on Kolb, don't you have to see what you have in the guy at some point?

Sigmund Bloom is usually right (although he doesn't know more than we do at this point)

@mcnoel85 i think vick will be back soon, sit tight

@JasonLaCanfora

Mike Vick did not speak to the media after the game, but DeSean Jackson and others said they do not believe it is too serious

Best case scenario he misses the next 3 games and returns after the Eagles bye week 9 against the Colts.

Wouldn't the best case be he is sore and has nothing else wrong with him and he doesn't miss any time?
 You need a couple of pitchers o'beer or else you can't function in here Sunday afternoons. Truly, it was a hard hit but it didn't look like something where you go "Oh broken ribs, 6 weeks"...and Kolb did NOTHING when he got in the game...everytime I looked over it was 17-6 still in favor of the Skins...that game was there for the taking and Kolb did barely anything. I'm betting Vick is back sooner than later.

X-Rays are negative. Howard Eskin on Sports Final says Vick has a sternum injury, and they suspect torn cartilage on his ribs. MRI tomorrow will show if that is the case.

EDIT: he also said expect Vick out 2-3 weeks.

also speculation. not even a doctor could know this without mri results.

Going to have MRI tomorrow.
X-rays are not definitive with this sort of potential injury. The MRI will be as to hairline fractures and the like. I still wonder whether he also/instead might have separated his shoulder, although typically that happens with an extended arm and not an arm tucked into the chest like Vick's was.The thing that also concerns me is that he seemed to be clutching his right (throwing arm) side.

Here's Vick in the locker room looking very sore.

He looks like he is in pain for sure, very gingerly trying to put that shirt on. At least he's up and moving around and it's not an arm or leg injury. It's certainly something that he hopefully can come back and play in a few weeks.

Long-term, Vick being out 6 weeks, may be the best thing for the Eagles to find out what they have in Kolb. Whatever veteran they pick up to fill in as back-up (Kafka is not going to be the back-up), he will only play if Kolb gets hurt. This will be Kolb's time to audition. Show us you can throw down field and use those great young receivers you have, and you can be the long-term starter of the Eagles. Show us you can't, and the Eagles look to sign Vick to a multi-year deal before the year is up. Kolb gets traded in the off-season or plays 2011 as the back-up to Vick.

Short-term this probably means no playoffs this year, but hey, we weren't expecting SB at the beginning of the season anyway. Let's get set-up to make a good run in 2011.

I think he might be a lefty...
