Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (2 Viewers)

There should be just a full length compilation video of ME1-3 so we can watch it like a movie 100% paragon and renegade. Somebody needs to do this.
It's been done on Youtube. -
Speaking of Youtube size limitations, I'm always confused about that. I keep being told there are size limitations, but then I find a couple of full length movies, and a full length 3-hour wrestling PPV from the 90's on there. Explain that.Conversation related: I always get a kick out of the ###hole Shepard videos.

Game related: Steam Winter Sale starts in an hour.

I was actually enjoying Mass Effect 1 (more so for the story than the dated game play, obviously), but I got to a point where the next priority mission wouldn't start. This was about 6 hours in. Coupled with the fact that my Vanguard can't charge (I guess that was introduced in ME2), and I will probably just give up on this game. Kind of bummed out about that. :kicksrock:
No. Don't do that.Just play on the "easy" setting and play through only the priority missions.
Honestly, I was really hoping someone would tell me that... so thanks. :) Any advice for which class to take? The powers are so underwhelming compared to ME2 & ME3 that I am almost tempted to run with the soldier. But again, I was only 6 hours in (I had just added Liara and my next missions were Feros or Noveria), so maybe I just didn't get far enough into the game...
I forget which one I enjoyed the most. I think it was Vanguard. Soldier is okay but using biotics is a lot more fun than just shooting stuff.

Steam sale opens with:

Borderlands 2: -50% (29.99)

Batman Arkham City GOTY: -75% (7.49)

Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition: -33% (26.79, this will almost definitely go down to 50-75% off before the sale is over)

THQ Collection: -50% (24.99)

Scribblenauts Unlimited: -33% (19.99)

First day is always pretty meh.

Adept would probably be more fun on easy because enemies won't have shields, and powers will thus have full effect on everyone. Although you won't be able to use certain weapons, as I recall.

Far Cry 2 is cool so far, but seems really repetitive early on. Drive around the jungle. Kill some dudes with your shotgun. Rinse and repeat.

Mirror's Edge for $5 not bad, but I have too many games I don't play already to not play one about a chick running and jumping. Picked up Arkham City for my son for Christmas from GMG for <$5 last week.

Only purchases so far:

SimCity 4 for 4.99

Darksiders Franchise Pack (Darksiders 1 and 2 and all DLCs/Preorder bonuses) 13.59 - which is sad, because Darksiders 2 is 16.99

I'm wondering whether I should buy the Darksiders Franchise Pack for $13.59 or go with the THQ pack, which is $24.99 and also includes both Darksiders games (minus Darksiders 2 DLC) and a lot of other games, including Company of Heroes, Saints Row 2/The Third, Homefront, and much more. I wonder if I'll miss that DLC content by buying the THQ pack instead.

Id go with the THQ pack, Company of Heroes and Saints Row are great games, never played Homefront but its a Battlefield Bad Company clone so it can't be terrible. Also I think the THQ bundle comes with the Warhammer 40k Games, which are fun if you like 40k.Sucks though because the THQ Humble Bundle was like two weeks ago and for a dollar you could get pretty much every THQ game but Darksiders 2.

Started Bioshock 2 last night (it was free on PSN+). Having a hard time getting into this one, although I'm only two levels in so it has plenty of time to pick up.

I never finished it. The first one was so perfect and I had played (and still play it) so much the second one just doesn't have nearly the same feel and atmosphere.

Was hoping someone could recommend a PC game to me?

I used to love playing Age of Empires and Command & Conquer back in the day. I would like to play something similar to these, and I'm not interested in online play. Just want to play campaigns and matches against the computer.

TIA

I'll add Company of Heroes to that.

Great ideas, thank you. It seems that unless I want to enter the world of MMORPGs, my choices of new software are limited. I was hoping to find something written for Windows 7.

Don't forget that there are Steam sales going on from now til the end of time the year, so you may be able to get many of these at a fraction of the cost. Also, there's an Age of Empires Online that is free to play (w/ optional micro-transactions) and is perfectly playable for free if you only play vs computer.

Homefront was fun and I really enjoyed the premise, but the single-player campaign was really short. Like..."wait, seriously, that's it?"...kinda short. And why play multi-player on that when there are so many better options for that.

Just finished one playthrough of Witcher 2. Was gonna play the other path but wanted something different so I picked up Fallout 3 which I shelved for some reason. Glad I picked it up again, not sure what I was thinking.

I just picked Fallout New Vegas back up a couple of nights ago. It's one of my favorite games.BTW - If any of you are having trouble getting your Skyrim/Fallout3/FO:NV to work, it's likely your hard drive going bad. Try playing the game w/o it attached and se if it loads.ETA - This also affects downloaded games as well.

I'm in a game rut. Accidentally deleted my xcom game that I was pretty far in. I'd have to do about a month over. Don't really feel like it right now. I was playing Donkey Kong Country on the SNES last night for kicks. Then I tried the Walking dead for a bit. Got that for $5 in the end of the world sale. IT's ok. Reminds me of the old style games where you basically just click around to find things that work to progress the story. Not sure what to do now.

That looks pretty decent. Hopefully the sale brings it down to $5 or less.

eBay still the best way to flip PS3 games?

Gamestop is a joke, but a buddy said to check out BestBuy. Priced my 7 games (Resistance 1-3, Uncharted 2-3, Bioshock2, Deadspace2) and they'd only give me $22. Oof.

I haven't gotten it yet, but everyone I know that's played it loves it. I'm also holding out for it to go lower. But if it doesn't, I'll still finally get it by the end of the sale.

Been playing Far Cry 3 in between my 16 hour sleep sessions, happens every holiday break.

Anyways, this game is great. Have to take over a pirate outpost, this particular one happens to be a gas station. Covered my jeep in C4 and drove it through the front gates, rolled out just before blowing it up killing everyone but the lone sniper pirate. A half second later the hood of my jeep comes crashing down killing the sniper.

This game.

The Aftermath
Thanks to this post, I bought this game. It's hands down one of the most fun game I've ever played.

I wouldn't go *quite* that far, but yea, it's definitely a good time. I like how they kind of forced hunting and gathering on you - it's not an option. Using the bow is a lot of fun, too.

I just picked this up for myself and I'm going to sneak it into my stocking later tonight while nobody is looking.

I'm actually enjoying this a little more now that I'm further into it. It seemed like this game took forever to get going, but now that I've got the research camera and an assortment of plasmids it's more entertaining. It's still nowhere near as good as the original. Still looking like a one-and-done though, whereas I really enjoyed multiple playthroughs for the first title. On deck is Far Cry 3, which just got discounted to $40 on Amazon; it won't get here until next week at the earliest, so I'll have plenty of time to finish my business in Rapture first.

OK, got an Xbox 4G for my boys bedroom. DL'd Minecraft no problem. Trying to to DL other games and it keeps coming up "Not enough space to download this item"

What am I doing wrong? Are you ####### kidding me?

You only have the 4 GB version. You don't have enough space on the hard drive.

Do you have XBOX live? You can use the free cloud space. [i think you can only use the cloud service to store savced games and profiles.] Its super easy to set up but you need to (obviously) be online.

We have Xbox live. I have a flash drive as well. Please explain. TIA.
I could be wrong, but I beleive you can't use the flash drive or cloud service to store games on.

Your xbox only has 4 GB. internasl memory.

They sell Hard Disk Drives that you can install inside your xbox. They are 250-350GB drives which can store a lot more games and movies your download.

In other words, unless your drop $125 on a HDD, you're likely going to have to delete and re-download 1-2 games at a time on that puny little hard drive you have.

Perfect. So, essentially the lovely lady bought the wrong Xbox. I appreciate the response. Care to pick me up from jail?

I'm pretty sure you can format a flash drive (1 GB to 16 GB) and put the XBLA games on it. With the larger games available now, it won't take long to fill up a drive, though. I still recommend the hard drive, but that should get you going until you get one.

I was really hoping to take advantage of some after Christmas sales to pick up a few Xbox games, but it looks like they don't exist this year. :(

I just got a 250 gig drive for 60.00 on Amazon. I played my Xbox for a long time in just 4 gig mode though. Still 60.00 to add the drive is really nothing. And there is nothing to installing it. Just plug it in and go. No formatting or anything.

Lord of the Rings Lego.......AWESOME.

My son and I are rocking this game. (got for him for the holidays). My favorite Lego game thus far. I have not played Pirates but we have everything else and this one is really awesome.

Funny....it's the best LOTR game made for the consoles thus far. At least IMO.

Agreed entirely! Playing this with daughter right now and we are a big fan of the series in general (having played Star Wars, Batman and Harry Potter before LOTR). LOTR feels "bigger". Certainly not open world by any means but they seemed to have expanded the scope a bit from previous games while still retaining the good feel of the earlier games.

LOTR Lego is great.

Really hoping Torchlight 2 makes an appearance on the Holiday Sale. Nothing so far.

Got RE6 for Christmas; guess I'm ending my PS3 hiatus. Looking for other recoomendations for games.....I've always enjoyed the Uncharted, Bioshock, GOW and Resident Evil series. The last game I got was Fallout 3 and it was a bit overwhleming and too open world for me. Since I'm not really a 'gamer', I prefer more linear games. Looking at reviews, I thought I might try Red Dead Redemption or Far Cry 3, but would these be too challenging? Really just looking for a fun game that doesn't take a long time to pick up and I can do in 1-2 hour chunks.....
