Playing Pirates! now. I played the original back in the day. This version is slicked up really nice. I like it. Also figured out how to play Rift. Much more entertaining now that I have figured more of it out.
I like that you play Pirates!, but your picture offends me. Can you not leave the apes for the apes?

Finally snagged a PS4 this weekend. Grabbed a copy of NBA2K14 to keep me occupied until MLB The Show 14 (the main reason I went PS4 over Xbox One) releases. Come on May!!!!

Any recommended downloads?
Assassins Creed Black Flag is probably the only game from the opening day batch that is worth buying. Also make sure to get PS+ and get the free game for February before the month is over.
Lego Marvel is awesome.
it was on sale this weekend. grabbed it for $30, and my son played it with his friend for a few hours. looked really fun, and might have to fire it up myself.

I got NHL 13 for Xbox360. Thanks, olympic hockey for making me do this. It is far superior to NHL 11.

Anyone play Skyrim on PC that could suggest any choice mods they use?

After playing TESO and turning on my 360 for the first time in years today only to find my original xbox copy of Morrowind in the disc tray I feel like getting back into Skyrim, I'm just not a fan of the core game, looking for any kind of overhaul mod.

Appreciate it.

Beautiful, ore veins were one of the few things Skyrim did right, very realistic -- so much so that you have to have eagle eyes to spot them.

Definitely going to use this.
I know the PC guys are all into the mods but Skyrim did a lot more than get ore veins right.

Ok, so I finally got to spend some time playing Dues Ex Human Revolution. So far............. um.................... this sucks.

Now granted, I'm not that far in. I got through the initial mission that you get killed in. That was entertaining. Then I got on the chopper to go to the factory that is under attack. Took out the guards outside. That was less fun than the first mission, but overall well done.

But once inside, man is this thing going slow and boring. I get that this game is not the "just run around shoot and kill everything" type of game. But so far I am spending way way way too much time trying to be quiet and stealthy. Not alot of entertainment value for me in that. It gets better, right?

The stealth component is pretty significant throughout. You can't go all Rambo although as you upgrade you can certainly do more of it.

However if you are looking for more of a run'n'gun experience then Deus Ex may not be the game for you.

You can feel free to pull the ripcord now if you want. This is very much a stealth game, and you are not going to enjoy it if you want to play it as a traditional shooter.

Well, it's a stealth game until you get to any of the bosses, at which point you better hope you've been sinking skill points into combat upgrades.

I'm ok with stealthy games. It's just thw waiting and the waiting and the.......... well, waiting.

The bosses are actually no big deal if you read up on the ahead of time and prepare. The first guy, for example, is a complete pushover if you have the stun gun with about 12 rounds or so. Likewise, that one chick in the computer room goes down in two typhoon blasts. I think they can all be cheesed like that, but only if you planned for it.

Incidentally, this is a game in which I have absolutely no philosophical objection to cheesing boss fights. They're radically out of place in this game.

Apparently the "Director's Cut" radically changed the boss battles.

Just started Left Behind the DLC for The Last of Us.

Freaking great.

What an incredible game Naughty Dog gave us. The best game of this last gen. No doubt.
worth the money?
I would say if you were invested in the story as much as the game play.then yes. It fills some holes in the story.really cool I how it is done.Highly reccommended.
Cool - one of the few games I "got into" the story
Crap I traded this in after I completed it. How long is the DLC? I may redbox it if I can finish it in a weekend session.

Personally I am all over the wikis when I game, why wouldn't I be?

For example: In Assassin's Creed II, of course I want the Armor of Altair but it would take weeks to find the locations of the vaults by just randomly running around the cities. That's time I just don't want to give to any game, so wikis it is.

Yeah I always do at least a little research before I start. Since I generally play games with big worlds you almost have to.

Unless you have unlimited time and patience, or want to limit yourself to a single game for months on end (years possibly with a world like Skyrim) I think you absolutely have too use the wikis.

Yeah it was Morrowind that really got me into using the Wikis. And I still put in well over 200 hours on that.

Just my opinion, but it took the Elder Scrolls formula and continued the trend it started with Oblivion in removing what actually made it a great game. Not to rehash it, but vanilla skyrim is so watered down, even in comparison to Oblivion which was INCREDIBLY watered down in comparison to Morrowind. Skyrim is to Elder Scrolls what Infinite is to the Bioshock universe.

I realize they were trying to appeal to a wider audience, but they could have done that without stripping out most of the customization that made Elder Scrolls great.

While the idea of being dragonborn is great, it entirely changed the game - for the worse imo. Skill selection mattered in previous games, it matters not at all in Skyrim, there are no classes - you are one of the handful of different dragonborn bastardizations. The main quest is somehow worst than Oblivions main quest which is impressive with how dumb Oblivion's story was.

I could go on for days <_< Skyrim added absolutely nothing except for impressive visuals (which is to be expected given the progression of technology) and continues to detract from the series.

Well we disagree. I liked Oblivion a lot other than the repetitive closing the gates. And I think Skyrim earned the awards it won.

Picked up Arkham City for $5. Might put dark souls down for the meantime and give this a go.

Been playing Rage. Pretty unimaginative all in all. Game play is straightforward shooter with nothing really very interesting or different. I do like that "Sarah" becomes part of your trophy room

I thought some of the settings were pretty cool and some of the monsters were interesting. I also liked playing the card game.

The card game is pretty poor really as far as mini-game magic ripoffs go. The settings were okay but as mentioned earlier, they are pretty much just stolen from Fallout. I disagree on the monsters - seemed just like variations of things done before.

Well I play a lot of RPGs and FPS games so almost everything in the genre has a whiff of the familiar about it. I enjoyed the game except for the way it ends. It wasn't groundbreaking for sure though.

We were talking about older[ish] games earlier.

How do people feel about Dragon Age: Origins?
It's awesome if you like the Bioware KOTOR style RPGs.
Exactly. Each "area" is completely linear but you have some freedom to do areas in different orders. Combat and party management is exactly like KOTOR.

I enjoyed Origins and played a little of the second one but ultimately lost interest as it was very repetitive.

On Hard I finished it in under 3 hours.

It was great though....really fantastic video game story telling at the highest production level you can imagine.

I loved KOTOR. I have played it so many times I have it largely memorized.
Did you ever do Jade Empire? KOTOR in a martial arts setting? I enjoyed that one a bunch too.
Heard of it but never played it. I'll have to look into it.

You know I was just thinking about KOTOR and how many times I played it. This is definitely the game I have "finished" the most of any in my gaming career.

I think I'm about 90% done with the main game. I appreciate the storytelling and production values but I can't say I've really had "fun" - just a little too intense for me. I don't think I'll be up to buying the DLC.

It's a little dated now but it's even more similar to KOTOR than DA.

This is why I loved it so much. I am a huge survival horror game fan. And this game is the pinnacle of the genre in every way. I hold TLOU and The Dead Space trilogy in the highest regard.

Along with Skyrim, MLB The Show 13, NBA 2K11 and the Mass Effect series these games for me defined the PS3 ERA

I really need to play KOTOR. Been on my Steam wishlist for a long time.

I have so much stuff to get through and DA:O looks to be next. It got great reviews for sure.

KOTOR IS $9.99 for your apple phone. I never finished it back in the day and I'm thinking this is the rout I may go. I figure I could play when I'm killing time at work and the graphics prolly hold up well on my small iphone5 screen.

Same deal for me - I had the game ages ago for the PC and got halfway through but never finished. I picked it up for the ipad and am almost done with it now. I highly recommend it, although I can't say I have tried it on the small iphone screen. It may be a bit tricky to maneuver on there. The only blemishes are the swoop racing portions and the spaceship fights that come up when you travel between worlds. They can get annoying because of the controls. Otherwise, the port is amazing. The graphics, I believe, have been updated and all of the content is there.

Bought it during the Steam sale in December but I had played it a few years back. I really enjoyed playing this game. I've picked it up a number of times and am currently about 80% through the entire game (all DLC) and am still impressed at how much fun it is. If I had to guess, I've started a character about 30 times and completed the game about 10-12 times.

That said, DA2 sucks. Too many used and reused maps. Combat is very different and far less fun. Each new piece of the story made me think, "And, why do I care about this?"

I have KOTOR but really never got into it. With all the talk here, looks like I should give it another whirl.
