Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (6 Viewers)

So anyone have any first hand experience on Dragon Age 2? It's the gold box of the day on amazon for $39, so a pretty good price. I'm probably getting it, but just wanted to see if anyone here has tried it yet.
No first hand experience, but thanks for the heads up on the deal.

Its fun but no DAO. Waaaay simplified for the masses. Since there are only three characters classes, its really lacking in depth. Its become far more of an action hack & slash than a RPG. Not very challenging either. I've been playing on normal for about 15 hours and have yet to die.

Crysis 2 gets a 9/10 from IGN. They state it has the best graphics of any console game to date. Watch the video review, it looks freaking awesome.
:kicksrock:
You gettin' this? I'm sold.
My concern is that it's going to be an invisible sniper fest and the review seems to indicate that is the case. I may get it anyway but probably won't for awhile.
That is a bit concerning. I'd be more worried though it if was all grenade, grenade, jump, jump, melee.Noticed you played a bit of homefront while I was playing with madshot last night - what you think of it?

Yeah, true. I'm also worried that it will be too much like Halo with the jumping.I posted my admittedly limited thoughts in the Homefront thread. That thread is pretty dead so I understand why you haven't seen it yet.I played a game and a half of Ground Control. I liked it. Graphics were better than I was expecting based on the YouTube vids that I watched but still sub-par compared to others. Not a problem for me though. They're good enough.I enjoyed it. My only complaint so far is the lack of Tactical Layout. I'm not going to go back to Default in Black Ops so it's something I'm just going to have to deal with going from game to game.Snipers are annoying though. I may have to make it my sole purpose to hunt snipers in this game.

I think I'm going to enjoy sniping!

Preordered Portal 2 through Amazon. 54.99 but you get a 20.00 gift card. As long as Amazon keeps discounting pre-orders...I'll keep buying.

For those of you with younger kids the new Lego Star Wars III The Clone Wars is outstanding. The best Lego to date, there are levels with massive battles with droids, including all of the associated vehicles that you can use. Simply amazing. They also seemed to change the system where you can buy different abilities and characters. You have to complete a certain number of the Gold Bricks before you can access different areas. I am having a blast playing this with my two boys.

I  Amazon.Free prime shipping that makes release day also free. Their game credits and the fact that they give a much better deal than gamestop on trade ins. I started with $70 in credit and have turned that into 4 new games with all their deals.

Gamestop is having a trade-in special on consoles, where you get an additional $25, and they really don't give a crap what condition it seems to be in. I have my nice new 250 GB 360 hooked up and all data transferred, so I took in my 360 which is wheezing on its last breath, and walked out with $84 credit. Now, to decide what to use that on . . .

Shogun 2, Crysis 2, . . . :wall:

So I have a $50 credit at Newegg because one of their CSR's was a #### to me over a return and they wanted to make nice, AND I have that new $84 Gamestop credit. What games do I get? I have to reserve some games for Steam, so I can play wherever, but am trying to decide between Crysis 2, Deus Ex Revolution, Skyrim, Portal 2, Diablo 3 and Shogun 2. Battlefield 3 will be Steam.

skyrim is not going to be released until November 11th in case that makes a difference to you.

Oh I know. All but 1 of those would be preorders. Deus Ex 8/23, Portal April, Skyrim November, Diablo 3 12/31 (though I find it very hard to believe Blizzard will not rush to get this out before Christmas). I already have Gears of War 3 pre-ordered and paid for via Amazon.

I had no idea that Blizzard gave a release date for Diablo 3 yet. Any word on whether or not it will require subscription payments to play?

None, but I would doubt it. I think it will probably follow the D2 model vs the WoW model. But I could be 100% wrong, as well. I cannot think of any games that are not MMO's that do charge a monthly fee, however, hence, I really doubt it.

Playing Crysis 2 and really enjoying the MP. I will admit I am not very good at the FPS MP games even though I do enjoy them. Well when I jumped into C2 I was 100X times worse than any other FPS. I had no idea about the invisible suit, the armor upgrade to the suit etc etc. Once you get use to managing your energy and coming in and out of the different power ups of the suit you can be quite effective.

So is the idea of a game like Red Dead Redemption to live the life of an outlaw? As in there are stretches while playing the game where not much is going to happen?

Played for a while last night and it is an immersive game, but all I did was herd some cattle, shoot a kidnapping mexican, and gambled a bit. There weren't any major plot points revealed or participated in.

The story comes along pretty slowly in this game. Early on, you'll spend lots of time doing stuff like cattle herding and horse-breaking. It picks up as you go along.

Yes, there are a ton of "training" missions at the beginning that just get you exposed to the many things you can do. Very fun game though. Nothing quite like riding along minding your own business and a cougar jumps out of the trees and mauls your horse!

Currently playing Bioshock 2. Fun game.
I enjoyed both the single player and the multiplayer. I got more hours out of multiplayer I think.
I don't really like the multiplayer. The single player story isn't as good as the first but the gameplay is top notch so far.
The Minerva's Den DLC is worth a look when you are done. It's a whole separate single player campaign where you play as a different Big Daddy, Subject Delta. It's shorter than the main campaign but a lot of fun and has a good storyline and new plasmids and achievements.

Minerva's Den is a great DLC if you enjoy the campaigns of Bioshock 1 & 2. Steve Tasker also really liked it. It doesn't even feel like a DLC very much. Its a different story with different characters, but it feels right, unlike many DLCs.

What's your gamertag? I just picked this up yesterday and appear to be the only one on my friends list playing it. Would like to party up if you are up for it.

I may get it soon. I'm expecting a Best Buy gift card from the in-laws for my birthday and I'll probably use it on this.I'll probably be playing Homefront tonight. Last night didn't work out.

Feliz cumpleanos, senor badger!

I'm sure this is like 1 or 2 years old but I'm still enjoying Uncharted 2 online, playing against other people. Lots of fun!

I wasn't a fan of the game. Thought it was pretty boring even once it picked up.
