Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (1 Viewer)

Loving Deux Ex:HR. Original game was outstanding. Liking what I see this time around, as well. It got me to stop playing Skyrim.
It's got great atmosphere and a cool* storyline. I liked it*Spoiler
The story as a whole felt a little incomplete and disjointed to me. As if they rushed it to completion somehow. I felt like the characters were making reference to important plot points that I never encountered. Maybe I was just rushing through the game too quickly.
How many hours of gameplay? The atmosphere and story of the first was incredible.

For me? It probably went about 15 hours.

I liked being stealthy and figuring out the puzzles of how to get around while killing the least number possible.

That style gameplay always frustrates me. I usually end up being called an ##### by people post-mission.

Ugh, think I will have to breakdown and finally get a used copy of Mass Effect 2, especially since I have grown tired of MW3. I've been putting it off forever as I sunk more than 80 hours into the first one doing every side mission there was. I'm too OCD when it comes to these kinds of games. :bag:

Don't EVER get involved in an MMO then. EVER.

so i am getting rid of the PS3. if i want to play a game then it's PC only for me. updated my account with steam and looking for some cheap distractions. i played the demo for Torchlight and liked it. seemed like a fun re-intro to the dungeon crawler experience again. thinking i would depart from the Total War series, which i kind of gave up on after Rome, in favor the paradox team. Anyone play EU3?

Torchlight is fantastic. Other easy fun ones - Trine (loved it but have not tried Trine 2 yet), Magicka is tons of fun, as well. DEFCON. Defense Grid. Gratuitous Space Battles. All cheap on Steam and tons of fun.

ME3 is gonna be awesome. It will cause a complete stoppage in my Skyrim playing.
ME 2 did that to me. I never played it so I fired it up. Skyrim has been gathering dust. In all fairness I dumped 170 hours into Skyrim so the break is welcomed.I am now on to the Uncharted series. I have I and II and so far.....loving it.

If you invested the time in ME1, than you owe it to yourself to spend the next 2 weeks in ME2 before 3 comes out. Put in about 4 hours a day and you should be able to get everything accomplished. Some achievements will remain but another play through later is always worth it.

I am also looking to start playing Mass Effect 2 before ME3 comes out. I read a bit earlier in the thread that pure solider can get boring, but I would like to be able to use something other than a pistol/sniper. What are my options to be able to use an assault rifle and then also have some of the power tech or biotic powers in the game? Is that what the Vanguard is?

I have heard this "criticism" as well, but IMO, having more guns to choose from > 1 gun and some powers my buddies already use. I am about 80% complete on insane.

Can I get some sympathy?

The bulb on my projector is apparently defective (going dim with less than 500 hours on it) meaning that rather than play ME3 on a 92" screen, I'll have to do it on my paltry 37".

Oh the humanity!!! :wall:

i'd agree that torchlight is fun. have you tried EU3? i saw that paradox has crusader kings 2 now and it has gotten pretty good reviews. i thought i might give EU3 or victoria 2 a try.

My only advice is to change that freaking bulb. I kept mine going after reading you can use them after is says to replace them and ruined my projector. (117" screen  )

my old projector said "replace bulb soon" for around 800 hours before it finally went out.

4 or 5 years ago I tried World of Warcraft. :bag: There was a huge thread on here with people that played that and Lord of the Rings (which I didn't try out.) I forcibly cut myself off after about 4 months because I could see the road I was on and it scared me... :scared: Might have ended up like one of those people in the documentary "Second Skin."

Wow, we have the same collection. I have about 160 hours in Skyrim and am burnt. ME2 and Uncharted 2 are the next two plays. I played Uncharted 1, but not ME1.

:goodposting: I only play games that have an ending so I can get back to the real world after a couple weeks. I've been really tempted on the KOTOR MMO, but so far i've successfully held myself away and since I have a huge backlog of games on amazon waiting to drop price, i think i'll be fine.

I haven't messed with the multiplayer yet, but the ME3 demo looked like basically more of the same from ME2. Which is good, since ME2 was fun and there's no need to fix what wasn't broken. The cutscenes were really choppy, but I assume that's going to be fixed in the retail release.
Mess with the multiplayer. It's awesome. Play it with a friend, the more the better. Running 2's against the Cerberus horde is quite challenging, but 4's is fairly easy and just sort of like target practice.

Been playing the ever-living crap out of the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer demo with a couple friends. I'm so addicted to leveling up my char and unlocking new stuff. So far the Sentinel and Adept classes appear to be the most fun. Sentinel is the ultimate Tank class and Adept is great for just spamming your bio powers. If you do check it out, I recommend using a class based more on bio powers and using only a Heavy Pistol as your primary weapon, with no secondary. Having the decreased weight allows you to not only regenerate health/shields faster, but also regenerate your powers faster as well. Spam bio attacks fer dayz.
Wow, sounds like there is a lot more room for customization this time out. Oddly, I've read almost nothing about this game and I'm probably the world's biggest fan of the series.
No offense, but if you've read almost nothing about the game, then you're probably not the world's biggest fan of the series. :hophead:
A fair observation, but sadly I'm pretty sure I'm in the top 1% of gamers in terms of number of play throughs for the first two games :bag:
I agree with this. You may not be the world's biggest fan, but you're a true wizard of the Mass Effect saga in my eyes.

Have you played the Mass Effect or Deus Ex games, Corp?

The only class that can use an assault rifle in ME2 is the Soldier. Vanguard is a combination of soldier (but no assault rifles) and biotic...weapon friendly, and uses a biotic charge to shoot across the battlefield and slam into enemies. Combine that with a powerful shotty for serious mayhem. I think you can also use sub-machine guns and heavy pistols.

I played a very small amount of ME and I just wasn't grabbed by it. I heard a lot of hype coming in. Never played the Deus Ex games.

Honestly, in ME2 all the weapons are fairly similar (pistol/sub/AR), so just pick the class with the type of powers you like and go with it.

About halfway through you get a chance to add a weapon type of your choice IIRC.

Recommendations on which console version of ME2 to get? My save game from ME1 is obviously on the 360, but sounds like that's not an issue as you can use the comic book thing to try out different outcomes.

Well if you don't care about your saved game than whatever console you prefer. I don't think there's any difference in content.

And once you upgrade the biotic charge, the area slows down, so you can really take pot shots with the sub-machine gun.

I am so late to the Uncharted party but like the Dead Space (1 and 2) party and ME2 party (I am a PS3 player only) I am glad I came around. The game is very well done. The voice acting and story very engaging. The gun play is a little clunky on Drakes Fortune but I hear in 2 and 3 it is much improved. So I have this rotation going right now:Uncharted Drakes Fortune - on Chapter 5 just after the plane crash into the jungle and looking for the reporter.Batman Arkham City - 75% done with the main story lineNHL 11 - started a fresh new "Be a GM" mode Florida Panthers franchise.NBA2K11 Miami Heat year threeMLB The Show 1987 Yankees year twoMadden 12 Dolphins year threeIn the que:Uncharted 2 Deus Ex Human RevolutionOn the shelf:Skyrim (175 hours played and will come back to in a couple of months)Looking forward to purchasing this year (not on release day though I wait for price reductions always)Mass Effect 3Aliens Colonial MarinesXCOM Enemy UnknownMLB The Show 12

All this talk about ME2 has me interested and the price looks good at $20. Does the ps3 version come with DLC's included?
I believe it does - including the comic book. Unlike the 360 version, they threw in the comic book for free because ME1 was not available on that console.

All of the "major" DLC is unlocked -- Lair of the Shadow Broker, the two DLC characters, the Firewalker missions, and stuff like that. I don't believe any of the DLC weapons or skins is included, but who cares about that stuff.

I never played "Lair of the Shadow Broker" or "Arrival" for ME2. Are either/both of them worth it?
Lair, yes. There's a decent amount of content there, and some really challenging combat, at least on insane difficulty. Arrival less so. It definitely sets up Shepard's situation at the beginning of ME3 but it is pretty short and not terribly interesting. Worth it if it is cheap and you want a quick warm up for the new game.

I think that's probably why I'd play it.
