I had no idea ME2 was not like ME1... Hated ME1 too much rpg stuff.

May have to revisit the series but like everyone else I'm old and don't have a ton of time to play anymore.

I'm only 7 hours into Skyrim - barely get to play BF3 or Skyrim (Gaming is THE main REASON I BUILT A NEW PC!!!)

Anyway, I'm in the same boat I very rarely get launch titles anymore but have the show ready to go...

Made it thru my first few teammate missions of ME2, very surprised in the subtle differences that make it feel very different. ME2 is much more tactical in its combat (playing as an adept) and the RPG elements have been minimized. Feels a lot more like a story driven shooter than a Fallout 3, for example, like the 1st one did.

Based on the comments in here and my playing it firsthand now, I'm thinking if one weren't concerned at all with side missions, upgrades or keeping people alive, you could play as a soldier and burn thru the game in no time at all. I may try that on the second round just to see some of my faithful companion's bite the dust.

Oh the Show is a great game. I just don't play dynasty mode. You would have to check that out on their site or something. Places I can't get to here. But RTTS definitely starts you in AA...

The Show is a steller sports title. In fact The Show 11 is my top 2 sports games of all time.

It has a deep franchise mode. You can play all your AA and AAA games if that is your thing. You do have single A players and you see their stats but you can't play single A games ala MVP 2005 which was the last great baseball game.

I started playing The Show with the 2009 version. Skipped 2010 and picked up 2011 which is amazing. The game has a steep learning curve and can be as difficult as you want to make it or as casual as you want to juice down the play level and sliders. The thing is this is a hard core bbaseball sim.

There are several control options. You can do classic pitching (which is my control method of choice for The Show) or metered (like MVP 2005) or Analog which was new for 2011.

For hitting you have Timed (my choice) Zone or pure analog (with the sticks new for 2011).

The reason I go with Classic pitching and timed hitting is I want the player ratings to dictate more of the outcome than stick skills.

Another thing I personally do is auto fielding with manual throwing. One of the minor con's of The Show series is the fielding is clunky (compared to MVP 2005 which was amazing) but the trade off is the animations are like truly watching a real game. So instead of pulling my hair out I again take a more simulation approach and let the fielders ratings determine the outcome (almost like a dice roll) but I throw the ball to the bags (you can pre-load your throws too so the animations look silky smooth). Because I do auto fielding I lowered the fielders speed rating slider down to 0 for both the hum and cpu. Much better results with that.

The real treat this game offers is the exceptional batter/pitcher dual. This is where the game is truly played. You must be patient, take pitches and yes you can draw walks. Hitting also offers 3 swing types in Contact (when your in a pitchers count) normal (I use this 90% of the time) or Power (used rarely in a hitters count with my big boppers).

The game is a true joy. They have broadcast cameras for every single team. That means it is the exact angle the camera is used in their real life broadcasts. So it truly is a network presentation. I also pitch from the behind the pitchers view to really give it the broadcast feel. And it truly does look different at all the stadiums around the league.

Another great feature from The Show 2011 was roster share. I downloaded an amazing complete roster set (all minor leaguers were included) from the 1987 season. So I am playing a 1987 Yankee dynasty complete with every single player from that era. It is unreal. I would reccommend getting The Show 2011 just for that because I have a feeling they are going to nix the ability to get all the classic faces guys wre able to aquire for the 2012 version.

New for 2012 though will be:

Pulse pitching - this will expand classic pitching (which will still be available) by making you fill a pulsating circle to get the accuracy of the pitch and location. The better the pitcher the bigger the circle and the easier it is to fill it by holding down the "x" button.

True Ball Physics - this is a game changer. I have seen loads of videos on it and the hit variety is astounding.

Revamped player collision detection and ball detection - Another minor gripe from past versions was players morphing right through on slides and collisions. Not any more. It looks awesome. Also players hop or jump out of the way of line drives and hot shot ground balls.

I will eventually pick up the Show 12 but much later in the year when the price drops. If your looking for the very best in baseball sims......this is the game.

Some slider suggestions if you having a rough time hitting is:

Set your level to Veteran

Lower CPU pitch speed to 1,2 or 3

Lower CPU pitch control to 0 (you will be able to draw a realistic amount of walks and the cpu is not just throwing strikes all day)

Lower hum and cpu starter and reliever stamina by 2 clicks from the default setting.

I pitch on All-Star level and hit on All-Star as well. But you can mix and match. The show offers loads of options, hitting camera angles.....they really give you all you need to customize the game to your style.

Mass Effect is not for everyone but for me it was like the went inside my brain and picked out the best parts of the shooter genre and the rpg genre and put them together in a game I love. Then ME2 came out and it was that much more of a good thing. I can't wait for tuesday.

You had to maintain happiness in the clubhouse with playing time for high paid guys or trade them away to keep team harmony. Contract negotiations, free agency, dynamic in season trades. Day to day player management for hot and cold streaks. That game was unbelievable. Oh yea and it played pretty well too. One of the first to offer online multiplayer for baseball. It came off suprisingly well considering it was PS2 connection speeds. I haven't bought a baseball game since then because they all far short on my expectations based on that game.

Another note to keep in mind about the show is that there is a sports forum called OperationSports.com. On that site there is a pretty deep community who live and breathe sports games. Anyways, every year there is a community member who gets help from many people and they put together a set of rosters that adjusts batting stances, potential and makes the correct roster for each team that are accurate for opening day. This includes AA and AAA. That means that the entire minors has the correct player names, stances (to the best they can) and potential. Makes it a lot more fun and realistic. Those rosters are what got me through a whole season.

Yep. I played MVP 2005 for 5 years. I was able to complete 4 full 162 game seasons with the Florida Marlins and I won 2 WS titles.The Show is very deep. It has hot and cold streaks as well. It is not as deep as MVP 2005 with the minor league aspect.....but man it is a true masterpiece of a baseball game. If your a baseball junkie (as I am and I still play IRL) this game will knock your socks off.You have Rule 5 drafts, full scouting, amatur drafts, arbitration, all the rules of MLB are implemented. You set all prices, budgets etc. You can control as much or as little as you want. Hire and fire coaches, managers.Deep.

I hate (modern) baseball, so this would actually make the game for me. Might have to go with the Twins or Athletics of that era.

don't have a Vita but read the cross play only works for certain PSN downloaded purchases on PS3, meaning disc versions wont work.

The thing I read about MLB Show is it will have cross platform saves.SO if you have the game for both you can pickup and play elsewhere. That's what it says anyway

Finished Uncharted 3 last night. The combat of the final bosses isn't all that tough, but the cinematic quality was tense and a lot of fun.

I know it's a "no duh" but it's rightfully so a highly recommended game.

I am coming to this realization as well. I wanted to like Fallout 3, wanted to love ME 2, but the fact is there is just simply too much walking around from point to point and simulating conversation just bores me. Perhaps it is because I just don't have the same amount of free time for gaming as I used to, but there is just too much down time in these games for me. I really want to play Skyrim, but chopping wood and mining for gemstones? Ugh.That being said, ME3 features three ways to play through the campaign: 1) Traditional RPG 2) Action mode where conversations play out without choices and 3) Non-action for those that want story and not fighting. Interesting approach to open the game to a larger audience without sacrificing what the core audience is expecting.

I am coming to this realization as well. I wanted to like Fallout 3, wanted to love ME 2, but the fact is there is just simply too much walking around from point to point and simulating conversation just bores me. Perhaps it is because I just don't have the same amount of free time for gaming as I used to, but there is just too much down time in these games for me. I really want to play Skyrim, but chopping wood and mining for gemstones? Ugh.

I tend to skip through all of the conversations as they bore me as wellAs for the bolded above, after almost 100 hours of playing I have done those two things maybe for 10 seconds total.

I'm only 7 hours into Skyrim - barely get to play BF3 or Skyrim (THE REASON I BUILT A NEW PC!!!)

If you hate RPG elements, why did you build a computer for Skyrim? Or is it that you hate the RPG elements within a shooter type game?

Wanted to give rpg another shot, its good but im not dying to play it. But yes the me combo bugged me. I just have to realize rpg are not for meEta: I meant I built a PC to game on not for skyrim exclusively, need to edit

I am coming to this realization as well. I wanted to like Fallout 3, wanted to love ME 2, but the fact is there is just simply too much walking around from point to point and simulating conversation just bores me. Perhaps it is because I just don't have the same amount of free time for gaming as I used to, but there is just too much down time in these games for me. I really want to play Skyrim, but chopping wood and mining for gemstones? Ugh.

I tend to skip through all of the conversations as they bore me as wellAs for the bolded above, after almost 100 hours of playing I have done those two things maybe for 10 seconds total.

No. But there is also a great all time team roster set made by a guy named Kritter. It is a sweet set with each teams all time best players. It is not intended for Franchise play. Just season mode (where you only play one season) if you end up DL that one as well play season mode and turn off injuries. The cool thing is you can play any game on the schedule so you can play as many teams as you want to have some fun with all the all-stars of yesteryear and today.But the 1987 set is so spot on. Enjoy.

picked up Payday The Heist on Steam (via Amazon) the other day for $5, not the greatest shooter but its fun and has a good leveling system. There's probably like 6 or so maps right now. Finally upgraded to the Reinbeck 12 gauge shotgun,

I mentioned it in the Skyrim thread, but it's a very good game. Also, I absolutely would not let my child play it. Very much an adult RPG/action game.

Stated AC: Revelations over the past 2 nights. I'm bored out of my mind. Like most fans of the series, I liked the potential of AC1 and loved the last 2. But right now, Revelations just isn't interesting me at all. They introduced some cool new moves, but I have no desire to spend all day making different kinds of bombs. Also, the dungeon sections I've been so far have been plagued with horrible camera angles. Combine that with the super dark lighting, and spending the time to get through the different areas without being detected is just too much of a chore.

I want to play through the game because i want to complete the story. But I'm just not feeling it so far at all. Also, as weird as it is, I don't like playing as old Ezio. Its kinda depressing.

Saw the AC3 trailer today. The new setting could be a nice change up, but I'll wait for reviews.

Since my son was born, I've been piling up a bit of a backlog. I still have never played any of the AC games - tried AC1, hated it, bought AC2 cheap because people say it's much better, haven't had a chance to play it. I'm about 60% through LA Noire, got bored with it and stopped - very repitive. I've got Arkham City that I've yet to play, GOW3, and pre-ordered ME3.

All that said, when I have found some time to play, I've been playing Madden and ME1 - creating a female Shephard character, and I hope to put off starting ME3 until I play ME2 with her. Engineer class, I'm not impressed. Nothing beats Vanguard so far.

Another great feature from The Show 2011 was roster share. I downloaded an amazing complete roster set (all minor leaguers were included) from the 1987 season. So I am playing a 1987 Yankee dynasty complete with every single player from that era. It is unreal. I would reccommend getting The Show 2011 just for that because I have a feeling they are going to nix the ability to get all the classic faces guys wre able to aquire for the 2012 version.

I agree with a lot of this. Definitely had a major "been there, done that" feel to it. Went through the main story pretty quickly but had no motivation to explore any further. Supposedly AC 3 will be revamping things a bit so hopefully that will keep it fresh.

Revelations was a step back from AC2 and Brotherhood, in my opinion. It's still a good game like those other two are, but all of the new stuff, like bombs, waters it down and makes situations too easy, as if the game wasn't easy enough. The tower defense minigame was pointless. You only have to do it once, and after that you don't even have to win. It's easier to let them take over the base and retake it. Even worse are the Desmond puzzles in the animus.
