I'm home now and I just read that Ubisoft's uPlay is down, so this is a perfect time to test DRM. Apparently, I can play the first Assassin's Creed, but Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood can't resolve my uPlay account info and won't let me into the game. I imagine I'd get the same result playing in offline mode. (The first game didn't use the current DRM.)edit: It appears that if you into uPlay's settings that there is an option for "offline mode" that will require you to successfully log into uPlay once for it to work. Perhaps this is the solution. I'll try it when the servers are up again. Some of these games haven't been played since I recently reformatted.edit 2 (because I don't like posting three times in a row): Now that uPlay's servers are working, I can confirm that once you log into uPlay once, you can log in offline mode and it will work. Of course, games with an online component may not work this way.My internet is usually working when I play, so I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think it works in offline mode. I've seen many cracks, when searching about it, to make it work. I can try when I get home to be sure.So does that mean you can't play Ubisoft in offline mode? Or that it simply doesn't allow you to update your progress across different machines with a single account?I love Ubisoft, but yes, their PC DRM is horrible. Although, I own most of the Assassin's Creed series on PC, I find it better to buy their games on console. You can hack it so you don't have to use their DRM, but it's sad that you basically have to do the equivalent of pirating a game that you legally purchased to get it working.Just a heads up with all these Ubisoft games in the sale, buyer beware. The DRM is terrible and must maintain a connection even in single player. A lot of very bad reviews in the different game forums. If a game has a forum be sure to check it out for major issues.

It's on today's list. Worth $5 for FPS fans.
Darn, hopefully it comes back. Otherwise it's on an ok sale for $24 dollars throughout the summer sale, and that's probably the best price I've seen on it. So either way there is a good chance I get it, this is one of the games I've really wanted, and besides a steam sale, i doubt it gets below $19 for a year or so.
