Didn't you get one of the four copies you bought when I got one of them? And I expect to see it as a flash sale at least. It was an option on one of the votings.So far, I've gotten the Walking Dead, Retro City Rampage, Deadlight, Mark of the Ninja, Terraria and Rayman Origins. Waiting for Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams to go on sale, which should go for 75% off (it was an option for voting the other night, so I expect it soon). Still considering getting the THQ collection. Meanwhile over on the dark side, I finally upgraded Battlefield 3 to Premium.

AM - Have you played any of the assassins creed games?Farcry 3 is pretty huge.Red dead is open world but not nearly as massive as Fallout. It's a western GTA.

If you're looking for linear games, Red Dead Redemption isn't it. I stopped playing that one after about 3 hours because of how open it is.Dishonored is quite linear. I didn't like it as much as I thought I would, but I'm in the minority.Of course, the Mass Effect games should be high on the list.Other titles I think would be enjoyable

I thought Amalur was supposed to be pretty open? In playing Red Dead I found it semi-open, there are times when you are on a rail. An older game series that is very linear and is really like an old school arcade style shooter that may be worth checking out is Serious Sam.If you're looking for linear games, Red Dead Redemption isn't it. Got Assassin's Creed 3 for xmas from the girlfriend. Never played any of the others but heard and read good things.
Still haven't finished Borderlands 2 or played the campaign on BlOps 2. Haven't tried multiplayer on Halo 4 or even opened Resident Evil 6. Never enough time this time of year for all the games out.

I got...uh, I mean my boys got NBA2K13 for Christmas. I know NBA2K11 was the gold standard, but they just keep making this game better. I LOVE that you can play a My Player with any current player or any of the players on the classic team rosters. Started a career as a 25 year old Michael Jordan. I'm sure it will get boring eventually being so easy, but starting a player from scratch, while fun, takes a long time to make them an effective player.

Not the end of the world.I have a xbox 1st gen (which only came with only a few GB). Recently, I went to gamestop and dropped about $30-40 for a used 120 GB HDD (You can prob pick up one cheaper on Amazon, Ebay or Craigslist, but I was lazy). If your kids havent played it yet, then you dont need to transfer any saved data between HDD's. However, if there is some data on there you may need to pick up the special cable (I forget how much it was) to transfer data from one HDD to another.'Tony Jabroni said:Perfect. The demo is very very limited in what you can do in Amalur. I had that game on the shelf for a long time since I started Skyrim right before I got Amalur. Amalur is not very linear at all IMO. You can do anything you want once you get past the first stage of the game.Maybe so. I only played the demo but that seemed pretty linear to me.

I wound up really enjoying it as well, it was a bit of a snooze fest early on but after about 3-4 hours I really started enjoying it. I love that you can reset your character if you want to change your skill tree, and the story was pretty good. I think I had about 80-100 hours into it.Let NewlyRetired chime in there. Not unlike the wii they are all pretty gimmicky. The Just dance series is a blast for my girls. All of them are just parlor games. we spend more time trying to get the sensor to recognize my kids then we spend playing sometimes.

I have played all the AC series. IMO ACII, Brotherhood, Revelations, AC3 then AC1. I really wanted to like AC3 but it falls very short of the bar AC2 set, since you haven't played AC2 you may enjoy AC3 more than I did though.
I knew someone else had played it but couldn't remember who it was. I just kept running in to NR online and I noticed he was always playing it, so I pm'd him a few times. After a few PSN messages back and forth, I put it on the Christmas list. And wallah, Santa came through!

For me the first few hours were really a grind, partly I think because I had played the demo and the game didn't pick up the character from the demo and start where the demo ended. The demo really is the first portion of the game...and while it teaches you about the leveling and the controls it's really a grind. Once you are past that though it's a lot of fun, and I was pissed because I forgot I had gotten a weapons pack for pre-ordering it and when I remembered it I had already leveled beyond what the pack gave me.
What do you mean by "grind" exactly? Just heavily regulated? Or do you mean grind as in, fight a ton of battles in the hope of getting loot? I actually don't mind being led by the hand for awhile with a new game. Unless I have to escort someone. I hate escort missions!

Started playing Dishonored. I like the setting and the plot thus far but don't really know how I feel about the game play. Also, the various "bad guys" are all so morally bankrupt that the whole light/dark aspect loses meaning. I would understand if your foes weren't always slime, but when they are I shouldn't be "penalized" for killing them.

yeah Amalur is massively open. I think you could play 50 hours on the game and not take on a single mission. And then on top of that the side missions, the faction missions, the task missions are seemingly endless, and then there is the main story as well, which I assume must be fairly big.Solid game so far. Not sure I like it as much as Demon Souls, but I like it as much as say Skyrim.I am about 64 hours into it so far and have barely touched the main story. I am getting back to that now. The only thing that will slow me down is that I am getting close to the level cap (you level out at 40). Just a monotonous led by the hand sort of thing, it's linear in the sense that you really can't explore and do what you want and are forced to do certain things.

I think the game is much easier than Skyrim and I pretty much did what you did but it then made the main storyline quest almost too easy as I was pretty much maxed out by the time I got to the end. That's my concern. I had heard you could only go to level 40 and, like you, once my character is maxed out I get bored. Yeah escort missions have so many ways to become mired in some kind of issue. In fact thinking about it it seems that if a game is going to be buggy it is going to happen during the escort style mission.

My top 3 pet peeves of gaming:
1: Timed missions
2: Escort missions
3: Tie: Vehicle mini games in non racing games / stuck on rails with mounted gun
Ok. I'm fine with that so long as it doesn't last TOO long.
I did this in every Elder Scrolls game there was. I want to avoid this in Amulur. I think I will force myself to do a story mission every so many levels.
Exactly. I'd be happy if I never had to escort another plodding NPC again. I don't think I have EVER enjoyed one of those.

Not sure as I am on my first character. This game also has a quirk/feature that at any time you can completely change you character from the ground up. You could play 1/3 of the game as a complete tank, 1/3 as nimble archer and 3rd as a full Mage with out having to start over if you wanted to get different flavors. It will start to make more sense after one play through.I just had fun and killed some, non-lethal takedowns of others. Ending was dark. This play through I'm totally non-lethal through the first 1/3 of the game and the game is very different.

So I didn't really care for Xcom or Dishonored.
I think my next two games will be Dragon's Dogma and Witcher 2. Hopefully they're a better fit for what I like.
Going to have to pick up Birds of Steel sometime too.

Red Dead is open world, but I loved it. Whereas fallout 3 was overbearing IMO.

Same here, but I knew the release date of the all in one pack and got it for Christmas so it worked out.
