Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (3 Viewers)

What type of game is Colonial Marines?
FPS, both single and multi-player mode. There is small amounts of RPG in that the character will level and you can change appearance and gain new skills etc.One thing I don't like is that there appears to be no HUD for the game.

OK you guys convinced me. I will pick up at least the first one. Although I saw a good price on a combo pack for 1&2.
Hell, they are making me want to re-purchase it and play it again as a good guy and a bad guy and then play Bioshock 2 for the first time.
Would you kindly?...
I feel compelled to play all of sudden. Honestly I haven't played it in almost 6 years so maybe its time for another go at it.

Jut would like to add for the new people playing BioShock, it is one of the games you need to play with the sound up, lights off, and difficulty not on easy to truly get the greatness.

There was one thing i hated bout bioshock. How long it took to kill big daddies and the fact the damage carried over every time you reloaded

If you stuck with the game long enough you could actually beat the game with just the wrench based on the bolded above. :) Although if the bolded bothered you, you could just shut off the vita chambers in the options if memory serves, turning the game into a basic survivor mode.

On XBox and PC, you'll need to download the free update before you get the options to turn vita chambers off, etc. Not sure about the Playstation version, since it came out about a year after.

After awhile, if you got certain perks, you could basically kill a BD by letting it hit you over and over till it died.

Playing Bioshock on hard with Vita Chambers off was pretty damn hard, but not impossible. It helps if you save often.

I don't remember this at all. It has been so long, when you say perks, do you mean a plasmid or something else?

I think he means Gene Tonics.

I never used Vita Chambers in either Bioshock. I always just reloaded if I died, and then I realized I could turn them off altogether in the menu. Granted, I just strolled the second one on normal, but I beat the first one on Survivor or whatever the crazy high difficulty is supposed to be on the PS3 version. The first 2-3 Big Daddies in Bioshock 1 are tough, but once you reach Fort Frolic they're push-overs. Between trap-bolts, hypnotized Big Daddies, and the old Security Bullseye trick, they go down like Angie on Arizona Ron. And the game lets you save whenever you want, so there's really little need for Vita Chambers anyway. Bioshock is the only game I can think of that starts off hard as hell but becomes a cakewalk by the end.

Yes, I forget which one but the one where if an enemy melees you, you emit electricity combined with the super health regenration one make it so a Bid Daddy could hit you, hurt itself and you would heal enough to never come close to dying. That's on normal of course. Hard you'd actually need to hit it a couple times.

Ok so I ordered the Bioshock Ultimate Rapture Edition. I get 1&2 and a bunch of extra content. It seems like a lot of the extra's are for multiplayer though so I don't know how much I'll get out of them. There is a new single player map as well. I also get some extra plasmids and gene tonics. Hopefully they are useful. Should have it early next week. Guess I will finish off Rage this weekend.

I have an almost unhealthy, borderline fetish for hearing or seeing other peoples reaction to movies or games I like, - so excuse me when I say this..... I think I want you to play the game more then you want to play the game. LOL, the expense is killing me.

Same here. I recognize why others would like it, though.

Agree... Obviously a well done game

MEh, that's why Ice Cream comes in so many flavors. Not everyone likes chocolate.

I can understand not liking it. But calling it awful, that's a bit over the top.

If someone just isn't getting the atmosphere, then it's not for them. You can't tell someone chocolate tastes great. If they think it tastes like crap, then it does to them.

You are actually kind of making my point for me. I've tried plenty of games that weren't "my thing." And I realized quickly they weren't. But I didn't go off and assume the game was awful just because I didn't like it. Something not being your kind of game doesn't make it awful in any sense of the word.

I've learned over time that no matter how universally awesome something is, there will always be people that think its awful. So for those people, meh. To me it's a top 5 game of all time.

Agreed. I'm not a fan of Skyrim, but I'll never call it awful. In fact, I feel like I'm the one that's broken since it's so revered. (For those that don't know, I'm a big fan of Bioshock)

Final Fantasy Dimensions for Apple/Android on my tablet is a really solid old school style 16 bit RPG.a little pricey ($20) but honestly i'm very entertained and it looks like this thing is going to take me 30+ hours and the story so far is very good.Recommended!

Starting up Dead Space 3. Not happy with the way the series has gone since the first one but will still love it anyway I'm sure. Why do all games have to go the action route nowadays?

My jealousy knows no bounds. Apparently wherever you are you had a midnight open?

Honest answer: because blockbuster games cost so much to make they need to appeal to as wide of an audience as possible.

Bioshock Ultimate Rapture Edition has arrived this morning. And I am just starting the assault on Capitol Prime in Rage. So my plan is to wrap Rage this week and get started on Bioshock Saturday. After I wrap Rage I'll give my much anticipated review. OK so I am the only one anticipating it but still.Forgot to mention apparently with the games I also get some nifty collectible stickers that have scenes from Infinite.

I agree with 'Moobin above -- I'm jealous of anybody who gets to sit down and play this game for the first time.

Early reviews for Dead Space 3 aren't good. I hope it's overreaction.
well that sucks. ill wait for ign review
IGN - 7.8
Dead Space 3 has some glaring problems, but the combat and the stunning presentation make it well worth playing.
Official Xbox Mag: - 70 -
Most of the things fans loved about the original are here, and the new features are cleverly mixed with the existing ones, but in terms of the structure, Visceral is treading water. Dead Space isn't dead by any means, but the spark isn't quite there

Eurogamer - 70 -

It's certainly not a great game, except perhaps as a poster child for the kitchen-sink development mentality of a console generation in its twilight months.

videogamer.com - 5 -

Dead Space 3 is a let down because it’s not a very good action game, and a really substandard horror game.

Kotaku - Best to read it My link

Don't let the reviews get to you down. I've enjoyed quite a few games where the reviews sucked. To each their own and stuff.

The first Dead Space reminded me of what the Resident Evil franchise used to be before they too went the action route.
