Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (2 Viewers)

Bioshock Infinite is fun dont get me wrong but the combat is fairly boring. And I dont get the point of the vending machines. You never need to buy health or amo cuz they give to you like its going out of style. Good game, not the classic all the reviews gave it. I actually think all the reviews gave it a nearly perfect rating because of the awesome story, atmosphere, and graphics which I agree is incredible. But the gameplay is kind of boring and has been done countless times before. I liked Tomb Raider better
Just wondering but what difficulty do you play on? BioShock gamea are the type of games that have always felt stale to me on easy and normal but really shine on hard.
normal right now. But my complaint wasnt that it is too easy. The combat is boring. I dont think making it harder will make it any more fun. Tomb Raider was easy and I had a blast.

Interesting. Why is that? I awlays liked Bioshcok for the story, and the combat was just the means of advancing the story forward. The combat itself was somewhat irrelevant.

I play the games for the story also but if I ever played it on easy or normal the combat seemed repetitive, which it is. I could just walk through every enemy doing the same actions. On hard I would have to use some strategy and think about what I was doing. This keeps the gameplay fresher for me.

I can't help but kill pretty much all enemies in Dishonored. :bag:
I did the same thing. I know they say it stops you from getting the "light" ending, but from what I understand, the endings are more like "dark" and "darker." And frankly, I was just enjoying blink across the map and stabbing people too much.

Decided to give crusader kings a shot. Obviously the learning curve is super steep. I had absolutely no idea what was going on.

My BIL got attacked by one of our neighbors and I couldn't figure out how to do anything about it. Then my sister was #####ing about the fact that she wasn't married. Then I get attacked, but can't declare war against the guy who did it. My wife popped out 2 more sons, but I eventually got rolled.

Gonna take a while to figure out what the #### I'm doing.
This game sounds so ####ing awesome. I love these posts.
ok then, I stumbled onto CK2 about a month ago. I have a long history with Paradox games, but recently I have been scared of them since I have a family to feed.

I married my oldest son to the oldest daughter of the Hungarian king. In order to ensure I would inherit their lands I had to assassinate my wife's younger brother. I thought I was safe because the king's wife was 40 something and they had no other male heirs. The king then put the queen in prison and petitioned the Pope for divorce, which was granted. He then proceeded to marry a young thing and produce a new male heir by age 50. I of course attempted to assassinate this son also, but this time I was caught. My wife now plots against me with her father. I cannot get my queen to sleep with me so she will not produce a heir, and because of this game I cannot get my real wife to sleep with me either.

My dynasty is in ruin.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Well I have to say, I enjoyed Far Cry 3 a lot, but jesus is Blood Dragon a blast.Absolutely spectacular, best $15 bucks you can spend.

Thanks for calling this out. I just saw a video of the tutorial, and this game looks absolutely awesome. Downloading as we speak, though I probably won't get to it until tomorrow.
No one keeps Rex "Power" Colt waiting.
Wow, they spent a lot of time on character names for that one, eh? Cheesiest hero name ever?? Or is the game tongue-in-cheek, and the name was cheesy intentionally?

So tongue in cheek. This is Duke Nukem meets Far Cry 3. It's pure awesomeness.

The main character is a cyborg who is single-handedly eliminating an army of enemy mutants called Omega Force, while occasionally fighting dinosaurs that shoot laser beams from their eyes. You think the cheese was maybe intentional?

I'm going to go with.... yes?

This pretty much ensures that we won't see a quality Star Wars game during the next console cycle.
Why? Those are some good games on those studios resumes.
EA's track record with exclusive licenses is pretty abysmal. Actually, even without the exclusive licenses, the quality of most of their games in the last 10 years has been crap.

You guys are telling me you wouldn't be pumped for a new Bioware Star Wars game? Come on!

A new Battlefront would be great. I'm not confident in them doing a new Old Republic game now that they really f'd up the last one.

Mass Effect = Awesome

Battlefield = Awesome

And I've heard Dead Space is a highly regarded series too.

What's the problem?

How do I kill the T-Rexs?

I've only just cleared the first garrison. I don't think my d20 is going to be quite enough firepower to take one of these out yet.

Just wait. Just wait.
I am just trying to understand why people are so sure it's going to be bad. Is it because they bombed on the new Sim City release? I don't play Sims but I thought the problems with that were about their servers and not about game play.

To kill blood dragons shoot them.

To kill them effectively shoot them in their glowing chests.
I am! Im also throwing out the hearts and they aren't stopping for them. I can only get off a few short bursts and grenades don't seem to be working either.
Have you tried shouting at them.

Seriously though, shotgun in the chest is like a quarter of their health, kobracon to the chest is like a 6th (5th after its upgraded)

My favorite game series has always been Splinter Cell - love them. I avoided The last one because it downplayed stealth and instead made it more like a Jason Bourne type game. Anyway, the new Splinter Cell game is bringing back Spies vs Mercs which I'm pretty excited about and decided to give Conviction a 2nd chance. It's pretty good. Not as great as the others but still pretty fun.

In order:

Splinter Cell 1

Chaos Theory

(Slight dip in quality)

Pandora Tomorrow

Double Agent

Conviction

Ea tends to do a lot of meddling lately. They turn established franchises from a game into a marketing tool. ME3 is a good example. ME had no multiplayer in the first two games. It was a single player story driven game. EA bought bioware and suddenly multiplayer was a must. It has ok gameplay but they spent a lot of time making it and then rushed the game to release. Some blame the weak, plothole laden endings on a lack of time. Spending what they did on mp certainly could have caused that. On top of that though, they originally forced the player to HAVE to play mp in order to get the "good" ending. And not just try it out. You had to invest a good 20 - 30 hours of mp to get your war readiness up high enough to get that single player ending.Simply things like this don't give me hope that they can take a franchise like star wars and do anything meaningful with it.

IIRC a separate studio did the ME3 mp and there's no way it took 20-30 hours to bump up the readiness to the degree required for the best ending (and I've gone from 50-100% twice, which is higher than necessary, and probably haven't spent 10 hours on it total). The bigger EA issue is stuff like day 1 DLC, but DLC and micro transactions seems to be where the market is headed.

As ME3 is the next game in my queue (currently I am about 3/4s of the way through ME2), has this MP requirement been done away with? I loathe MP and, quite frankly, won't do it. Am I going to be screwed when it comes to the end game for ME3??

I think they changed it with a patch. In any event the difference is only a 5 second scene which doesn't really add anything.

Cool, thanks. I would have been annoyed as hell if MP was required.

EA did the opposite to the battlefield franchise. Shoehorned a silly single player campaign into game that is all about MP. Most bf players don't even touch the campaign. Total waste of time.

If you play for 10 hours straight sure. A match usually took 20 - 30 mins to complete for a 1-4% gain in the readiness. When I only played a couple hours at most a day and it would decay 1% every 12 hours. So yea it took me about 30 hrs.

They lowered the war asset amount to get the "good" ending. So you should be fine if you get your war assets high enough now.
