Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (11 Viewers)

Am I the only one that gets anxious to go in the metro system? Like to the point that I try to avoid it? Good music and game setup in there but like I said previously, being scared or getting tense is not my cup of tea with video games. So because of that I probably have a ton of the metro still to explore. I only did what was absolutely necessary in the main story line and quests that take me there. I met the goul who wants candy but haven't gone back to sell him anything and I obviously got the blood perk from the vampires which helps a ton with recovery. But other than that - I just really don't feel like going down there but I assume I am missing alot.
Hell no, I try to avoid going down there and really am on edge if I don't know my way around - like last night.

I was trying to get to Arlington Cemetery. Can't remember my way around, so I am running through the flooded metro. I ####in' hate Mirelurks, so of course there were plenty of those down there and a couple Mirelurk Kings. Jumped a couple times and could tell that I was on edge. Got out of that, but when I got topside, absolutely nothing looked familiar so I am pretty sure I got out the wrong way. There were quite a few Brutes and a couple Masters running around though. Before heading back into the metro tunnels, I proceeded to attempt to climb over any pile of rubble I found and look around for ANY way that I don't have to head back down to the tunnels. Got excited for a bit when I did stumble on a way to get to higher ground, just to realize that it was just another entrance back down to the tunnels. There were Glowing Ones down there, and of course of them scared the crap out of me.

Not the best thing to play 10mins before I head to bed.

Reillys Rangers.... interesting so far.
It'sd a pretty decent side mission. Plus you end up being able to sell them map data for all the locations you have found.
That's one of my favorite side missions. And the armor you end up with (if you choose that) is the best in the game if you're a small arms/stealth guy. Much better than power armor.

I love my winterized power armor.

i got stuck in portal 1, so im scared to start portal 2. but i do like the game.

I can't stop playing Diablo 3 on 360. Love it, and was quite proud of myself for taking out the Butcher without dying. He was such a PITA in the first Diablo.

Agreed. Best armor in the game IMO. Pretty much never need to repair it.

Is that from a DLC? I don't remember ever having that.

Not saying this in a #### way, I'm really just wondering...

Why don't we have a Fallout thread? I love Fallout, but this just makes this thread unreadable if you're actually looking for some videogame suggestions/reviews/thoughts from other posters.

Just start a thread.

It's from the Anchorage DLC

When do we cut it off? More than 10 posts and there should be it's own thread?
Well, since I seem to be the main offender I will just start one because this isn't the first time it was mentioned. Or I will look to see if there was one from the past to get back on the front page.

I apologize for gumming up the thread. I find myself immersed in this game more than any other I have played and I've been enjoying the back and forth on it with NC and others.

No need for apologies. I just don't see the need for a hundred video game threads. i thought the idea was to kind of keep it here. Apparently what wasn't a problem for quite some time is now for a few people though.

Agreed. Don't start a new thread.

Big deal if there are a bunch of posts on a specific game, it's the video game thread for goodness sakes. Starting a new thread for each game people talk about a lot will cause different complaints.

I don't really care about the FO updates but I just scroll through them, just like others did when Insein and I were pimping Mass Effect for 10+ pages.

Actually you guys got me to try Mass Effect from all that. Didn't click first time but I am going to give it another shot.

See there is a purpose. Only time a new thread is worthy is if its a new game and people want to talk strategy and spoilers without worry. Fallout 3 is from 2008.

I agree the Fallout stuff is ridiculous now
I do admit that I don't understand the point of using this thread as a journal for your FO adventures, like NC did and Yankee is doing but who cares? It's the video game thread! We're supposed to talk video games here and what they are doing is completely in the spirit of this thread.

Any Steam players want a copy of Magicka for free? Those I know have preference over those I do not. ;)

ETA I actually have 2 giftable copies.

But alot of other posts (like mine asking about lego games :bag: ) are getting buried. This thread should be about video game reviews, discussion about upcoming games, discussing what games youre playing, etc But a journal about your day to day activities in a video game should be left to a new thread. How would you like it if Clinton Portis started posting his wild Madden adventures in this thread?

Well when I started the thread was kind of quiet and people seemed to enjoy it is the only reason I continued. Next thing you know a bunch of people are playing again and still seemed to be enjoying the updates. Certainly the majority of responses haven't been complaints anyway.

Didn't you get multiple responses to your Lego post? I read it but couldn't offer any insight as I have not played those games. Either way I don't think it got lost.

And I think the Clinton Portis thread was more of a cry for help than a video game discussion.

Ill pass but what is your steam id?Im on my cell so forgive me if its in your sig.

A hundred threads? Hyperbole much? I love reading both the Fallout "logs" and discussion about new games. However, I can imagine if I never played Fallout and had no interest in it that this thread would be ruined for me by all the discussion on it. The amount of Fallout talk in here has gone above and beyond warranting a new thread.

I post on many forums on the internet and one thing that I find a bit odd about this community overall is the reluctance to start new threads for many topics, instead cramming a lot of separate discussions into a single thread.

Safe to say the complaining about the fallout posts has been as or more disruptive than the fallout posts themselves at this point.

Well like we have the post police we have thread police who are upset if their sensitive eyes see too many threads that they aren't interested in being started. So we tend to try to keep like subjects together. Become kind of a quirk of this board I guess. But no biggie I will not post any more updates here, so not to worry.

Well, like I said, I enjoy reading them. I just see it from others' perspective and there seems to be an easy solution to appease both.

It's not that simple and I think you know that. A good example is a post I made about a week ago on an excellent new RPG that just came out (that is now getting rave reviews from all the sites) that was pretty much lost in Fallout discussion.

I wouldn't be surprised if over half of the posts in this thread over the past month have been fallout related. How does that amount of discussion not warrant its own thread?

Let it go guys, it's over. I won't bother anymore. YF23 has already bumped another thread. And given how slow it was when I started posting those updates I think everyone can be sure of a marquee position whenever they do post. So enjoy.

Anyone play a bunch of the Lego games? Already completed Lego Marvel (amazing), Lego Lord of the Rings (great), Lego Star Wars (on the Ipad), and Lego Batman 2 (meh) with my 5 yr old. I wasnt crazy about Lego Batman 2 because when you change your character, the other player has to sit there and wait. Its maddening playing with a 5 yr old lol. Anyway, we're ready for another game. Dont wanna spend the money on Lego Hobbit yet so was thinking about Lego Pirates of the Carribean. Is it fun? Does it have the same stupid character selection system as Lego batman or is it like the other games.
Played in the wrong order IMO. Lego Marvel is the best of the bunch and each subsequent game tends to be a bit better from a gameplay standpoint. Lego Batman 2 was incredible when it came out and improved on so many of the bad things of the earlier Lego games. I can't remember where Pirates came out but it was ok. Lego Star Wars is a great game but the selection process is crappy as well.
Have to agree that the Lego games are quite a lot of fun. My wife and I have played most of them together, and the new Marvel one is by far our favorite.

Any good ideas guys on any good games I can play with my 2 (almost 3) yr old son? I want to get him started early!

I've mostly been playing adult games (Skyrim, Fallout, Dishonored, etc...) my whole life, and now that I have a son I want to get started, I dont have any clue on what's out there that he would enjoy.

Ideally, something that we can both play together 2-players. I have a 360 - his favorite shows right now Thomas, Mickey Mouse, Disney/Pixar, Super Why, and so on. He doesnt have very many legos, but does enjoy playing w/ building blocks.

Thanks!

I don't mind people posting about a specific game a ton but there is a point where a new thread should occur. Either that or we can change this thread title to the "Video Game of the Month" instead of what ya playing and looking forward to. My main issue is that the long conversations that stem from the prolonged discussions on a specific game. They are fun to read but they murder the phone viewing and I have to skip pages at a time on the long quotes.

I had the same kind of problem at the time I wanted to allow my oldest now to do that.

We bought him a Thomas the Tank Engine video game that hooked up directly to the TV - it was rather cheap but it made funny noises and you helped Thomas get from point a to b and pick stuff up. If you were grading it F was too high but he loved it because it was Thomas. Disney has a ton of stuff like that as well now I'm sure.

He got a DS fairly early as well as a Wii for the house so both of them had a lot fo Mario type games on them. He loved Mario Galaxy but he wasn't coordinated enough to be the main character so he was the star-bit collector and I played the main controls. Over and over and over and over and over. I hate that game. He loved it. Even recently now that he is older he wanted to playit but still be the star bit helper because that was the fun of the game he remembered.

We had a lot of good experiences with the Leapster systems for him as well when he was young. Most of the games were fairly straightforward. I know kids have tablet options now that he didn't have when he was younger. But overall I can't think of a thing on 360 that he could haven played when he was younger. That controller is a lot of work and even Minecraft that he loves has a billion different things going on. I wouldn't even know where to start when my youngest wants to play the 360.

Thanks for advice Yankee -- I was kind of having these thoughts too.

I downloaded a Mickey game (Castle of Illusion) that he likes watching me play from time to time (I let him run around after I beat every level for him), but was wondering if anyone had any ideas for 360.

We have a Wii but it is packed away (moving in a few weeks) so we'll have to wait on that.

Scrolling past them down?
It's not that simple and I think you know that. A good example is a post I made about a week ago on an excellent new RPG that just came out (that is now getting rave reviews from all the sites) that was pretty much lost in Fallout discussion.

I wouldn't be surprised if over half of the posts in this thread over the past month have been fallout related. How does that amount of discussion not warrant its own thread?
Was that the Divinity post? I saw it and, like shady's Lego post, it got multiple answers didn't it? I don't think it was a case of it getting missed as much as it only generated a small response organically. How many responses were you expecting?

When do we cut it off? More than 10 posts and there should be it's own thread?
Well, since I seem to be the main offender I will just start one because this isn't the first time it was mentioned. Or I will look to see if there was one from the past to get back on the front page.

I apologize for gumming up the thread. I find myself immersed in this game more than any other I have played and I've been enjoying the back and forth on it with NC and others.
No need for apologies. I just don't see the need for a hundred video game threads. i thought the idea was to kind of keep it here. Apparently what wasn't a problem for quite some time is now for a few people though.

I have no idea how many to have expected, but it did not get many posts even considering its been the top selling game on steam since its release and it being so highly rated by the media. The point is that when a conversation is as dominated by one subject as this thread has been, other topics can and do suffer as a result.

This thread would probably be on page 4 without the Fallout bumps.

As other have said I just scroll over if someone is talking about a game I'm not interested in. I read the post about Divinity, I'm sure others have as well. Do you think the lack of talk about that is because people are talking about Fallout?

"what ya playing" is right in the thread title. Sorry if what a few of us are playing is several years old, and sorry if your post about a new game didn't get enough 'likes' and responses to your satisfaction.

This thread is getting to GoT-level silliness with the complaining.

I will stay away from the nightly updates of my FO exploits as well, but I am still going to be asking questions about it/responding to questions.

I am quite poor on the FBG scale, so I am never caught up on games. Very rarely justify spending $60+ on a new game, so I scroll right past most new game posts. I am all about playing old games or getting used ones for $10-15 dollars. o

Thanks!

This is how we approached it with our kid too. Couple really cheap and silly Wii games for home and then he had a Leapster as well for some mobile entertainment.

I think the lack of talk about other games in general is partially due to the dominance of the one topic.

I don't really want to beat this horse to death though. One of my pet peeves about the FBG forums is the reluctance to branch topics off into new threads when needed.

Some lack of talk is because people either arent playing or arent interested in said game.

That's why I added the word "partially".
