Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (7 Viewers)

Lego Batman 3 is out this Tuesday. My kids and I loved the first 2. I think this will be a St. Nick gift.
yep my son has been looking forward to it for months now.
No suprise, but, 2 thumbs up from this house. Enjoy!
you gave it to him already?
:bag: I have 2 (6 & 4). Daddy is a sucker...
lol i cant wait until christmas. My 5 year old is amazing. I ask him any two characters from marvel and dc and he can tell if they belong together or not thanks to lego marvel and lego batman.

Hey, The Walking Dead: Season Two, Episode 5 from Telltale came out on August 28th. Was not even aware of this. Downloading now but won't be able to play until next weekend. Darn! Anticipation at an all time high now.
I posted it earlier on this same page. But a good reminder for those that missed it. I'm curious to hear your thoughts.
Just got around to finishing this. I know there was some talk about the ending but damn was this touching. I ended up alone with the baby but I left one of the characters alive. I should have killed both but one is still out there.

Any updates on season 3 or is The Game of Thrones taking priority?

Is Dragon Age going to have a monthly fee?
no, it is not an MMO.

It does how ever have a multiplayer online mode where you join up with 3 other people to dungeon crawl that is completely separate from the massive single player game. They do have some microtransactions in multiplayer that are not suppose to be pay to win. There is nothing you can pay for that you can't acquire on your own by just grinding I think.

Interesting. I may be getting this then! Is it going to be like Skyrim?
Not quite.

It is a huge open sandbox like Skyrim, and the normal fantasy accoutrements abound (loot, crafting, customization, etc) but the fighting style is significantly different from what I have seen on videos.

It is 3rd person instead of 1st person

You control a party of 4 instead of 1 (you can switch between members at any time, even during the battles)

Fighting can be paused to enter a tactical overhead view to prepare and position each hero in your party to set up for the battle

So from the videos I have seen it appears to be much more tactical than Skyrim.

Here is a picture of the tactical view

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Age:_Inquisition#mediaviewer/File:Dragon_Age_Inquisition_Tactical_View.jpg

If the fighting style does not bother you, the rest should be skyrim like enough to be great fun.

Here is a video with some game play if interested

It'll probably be another 2 years before we see season 3.

Was it really that long between 1 and 2? Doesn't seem like it but time does fly. Maybe they will fall into a Game of Thrones year and then a Walking Dead year every 18 or so months. Alternate the two titles until they come up with another one. Time to play through this again I guess.

I don't think I'll be buying any more RPGs that don't allow for co-op of the actual main game and/ or PVP.

And I won't buy any that feature these things.
You wouldn't want to explore Skyrim with a buddy? Think of all the high jinx you could have.

Skyrim alive puts me to bed. Skyrim with a buddy would result in many, many alights, both intentional and non.

If it's done right, it's fun. It's when they force it on you or dumb the whole game down to make it "fit" - is where it goes bad.

Yea no thanks. Some games were meant to be Single Player only.

Nah - for me I'd play with my kids or by myself. So either I'd be interested in solo or in couch coop. So Diablo is fun and if Dragon Age is couch coop that would be great. If it required 2 machines I have no interest.

Here is the full FAQ on multiplayer for the new Dragon Age game. I don't get the sense that it is couch co-op but I did not see anything specfic

I just started Fallout 3. Not to completely derail this thread, but any beginner advice? I feel like I get nothing done in this game, yet I've already spent like 4 hours playing it.

Look in every box, trash can, vending machine, etc.

As for getting nothing done, that is the best thing about Fallout imo. Go explore, get sidetracked.

coop games can go #### themselves. having to wait around for people to take a piss break or to go make a sandwich or to put the kids to bed. so annoying. single player = playing to your schedule.

I feel like this is what I do, then I get overburdened with items to the point that I can't walk, and then all the merchants in town are out of money from me selling them junk.

Don't pick up everything. Make sure its money worth is worth the weight to carry the item. Obviously if it has no weight, take it, because there's no penalty. But there are so much in the game that weighs something, but isn't worth carrying. Also, although it may seem like you need 10-20 different weapons, you should probably only carry 5 for different situations and ammo types.

I'm still meandering my way through Last of Us... just got out of Pittsburgh finally (I've only been putting in an hour or so every other week). It's a great story with very nice graphics and solid controls and I will see this one to the end. I do, however, get bored by the repetitive nature of the map clearing and subsequent looting. I have complained about this in other games too (Tomb Raider, Uncharted 3, etc.).

Maybe it's just me or maybe it's because I'm a bit older now with less time on my hands. When I sit down to play these days I really want to be engaged and drawn in. Doing the same thing over and over is dull to me. (My apologies to you guys that like to grind.) I really dug Heavy Rain... which focused strongly on story and little on button mashing. Unfortunately, that game didn't sell that well. Maybe it was ahead of it's time. Or, like I said, maybe it's just me.

Update: This game got MUCH better after leaving Pittsburgh. The pace and story really picked up, thankfully. I just got to Winter and am very interested to see how this all winds up.

Bought Divinity Original Sin last week, been playing it non-stop since.

Reminds me a lot of the Neverwinter Nights series, fantastic true rpg.

Be prepared to get your butt handed to you. Combat is tough. For example yesterday I ran into some zombies and zombie mages and got completely wiped. Killed zero of them. Came in from another direction that had a choke point, had some better preparation and kicked ###. Tactics matter - a lot.

The only thing I don't like so far is the crafting system as I seem to collect a zillion different things and have no use (yet) for 95% of it.

Yeah, when I played through the remastered version, I reached the same conclusion -- Pittsburgh is just too long and feels a little padded. Not sure what I would cut but the pace changes pretty abruptly when you get to autumn.

On an unrelated note, it looks like I'm double-dipping on GTA5. I would ordinarily pass on this one, but my son wants to play online with his friends (high school boys  ) so I might as well replay this too. Everything else that has dropped recently or will drop soon -- Mordoor, Evil Within, Far Cry 4, etc. -- can wait just as easily. Besides, I'm apparently the only person who thought that GTA5 was a little ugly on the PS3, so the upgraded visuals will be nice.

Me too!@#$ :excited:

I'm just wandering around sort of following a random quest and running into trouble. It's pretty great.
Just started replaying New Vegas after a couple years away. Ended up becoming an NCR homeboy, but already thinking of replaying as a Fight the Power! tribal who lives to kill NCR and Legion alike.

anyone play Terraria?
I used to, then moved on to Starbound. it's like terraria but your base is a spaceship and there are thousands of planets.
will have to check it out. I stumbled on a Terraria review today (I guess because it was released on Xbone) and it intrigued me.
It was a big youtube commentator type game for a while I think. Not sure what the appeal is, never really checked it out.

What Sand said. I reached a point where I just wasn't competitive with the encounters anymore, and I think it's because a) I didn't finish all the early quests and b) didn't do any of the crafting, which is where you get the super stuff.

Minor, helpful spoiler:

Go to the tavern right away and pick up your other teammates. One of them has the ability to solve a very early quest but if you wait you'll miss out on it.

Gta5 bored me and i just gave up halfway thru
I honestly dont know why I couldnt get into it. I loved all the other GTAs. Something about the map almost being TOO big. It took forever to drive around to the next destination.
I liked GTA 5 but I wouldn't fault anyone for thinking its repetitive.
You'd say it's more repetitive then all of the others? I mean I get it if you're bored of the series. I skipped a few of them cause they were more of the same but GT5 is a GREAT game and by far the best, most interesting and least repetitive of them all.

I found GTA 5 the least repetitive of any other game in the series. It's the first one in the series where I did every objective and side mission and the game still felt fresh. I can't wait to play it again on PC.

I agree, but all the driving here and there and trying to ditch cops during missions still got old even though, as I said, I liked the game a lot. GTA5 absolutely did the best it could given the confines of the genre.

Winter is the best chapter IMO

Dragon Age 3 Deluxe Edition along with the Collectors hard Cover Guide as well as Far Cry 4 limited Edition have been hijacked from me by my wife.....she got the Amazon shipments today...and told me your waiting till Christmas as my son wanted to get those for me as a gift. So I will not let him know that I am getting them so I can be surprised for him. Gotta love that.

In the meantime I bought him Alien Isolation, Lego Marvel and Destiny. He has no clue.

Nice! I just purchased the hard cover guide myself. I can't wait to flip through it when it comes this week.

I still need to keep my eye open for a good deal on the PS4. Best I have seen to far is $350 non bundled. I am hoping to do a little better with a holiday sale.

Waiting until XMas to play DA might be benefitial. Many of the reviews commented that the game was so massive that there were plenty of basic bugs that should get ironed out by Xmas with a patch or two.
