Been doing some the campaign Co-Op with my brother in-law and we are laughing our asses off. Fun times.Wildlands is even better if you play it with other people. Either because it's awesome to work with someone to plan out and tactically execute an attack, or because you're like me and my group of friends that I game with who laugh hysterically when we drive off cliffs in vehicles and crash them into a teammate's helicopter, toss mines onto the back of their car and then shoot the mine, flash bang them right when they turn a corner, etc.
I'm with you in theory. Something I find interesting in your post is that for older guys with money to spend and less time, I totally see why they would be okay with it. But younger players are griping about spending hours grinding, which doesn't make sense because when you're younger and have a lot more time, that's what you do: you pump countless hours into a game so youregoing to be doing it anyway and spending less money anyway. So speaking as an almost 46 yr old man with a fair amount of disposable income and very limited time, I will admit that while the whole concept of pay to win angers my inner gamer of 30 years, my current self is OK with that. I do not have 40-60 hours to unlock things or the time to grind out the unlocks like I once did. I want to be able to jump in a game and play it to its fullest, and if that means I invest my cash instead of my time, then I guess I can come to peace with that.![]()
Still? Didn't it come out like 2 weeks ago?Downloading COD WWII now. Anyone still playing this on PS4?
Here's my review after playing this for a couple of weeks, and the main point I'm stealing from something I read online. The good is the fact there isn't crazy jumping, sliding, jet packs, and space battles. The map visuals (trenches, bombed out cities, etc) are awesome (up to personal opinion if you like small vs big, these are mostly small).Bucky86 said:It felt like an eternity and nobody was talking about it.

But the main take away is they didn't add much new to make up for what they took away. There is nothing really new or earth shattering. I feel like the shelf life to me will be like the first Battlefront, after it stops being so novel to look at, it won't keep me hooked.
The weapons are a'ight, but there doesn't seem to be much advantage to leveling up, so there's not the same motivation to grind those prestige levels so you can keep getting the better and varied guns. Maybe I just haven't played it enough to feel the difference though.
The problem is when it takes 4,500 hours of play to unlock everything or $2,100. And that was the minimum in Battlefront 2 since it was possible/probable it would be even longer since the entire loot system is based on chance.Shutout said:I'm with you in theory. I think it may be the state of our society- instant gratification and all.
Thanks for the input. Sounds like a good game for me and my fiance. We both love playing games together, and this is right up my alley genre wise.ConnSKINS26 said:I just got this last week on PS4 (which is certainly inferior to the PC version). I was super iffy on the purchase, because the game got a bad rap on console release (for good reason) as it was basically an alpha build with lots of issues even compared to the PC version (which was also very buggy a while ago).
But it has couch co-op split screen, which is harder and harder to find these days. My girlfriend and I are LOVING IT. We're obsessed with it. Its like if Minecraft, The Walking Dead, and Fallout were all thrown together in a blender. Don't expect a story--its all gameplay. The graphics are not very good and the player character animations are downright bad when you see your co-op partner murdering zombies. But damn is it fun and addicting. The resource gathering, eating/drinking/temp control survival aspect, the crafting and building, the atmosphere...we love it. You really feel like you're trying to survive in a Walking Dead-esque zombie apocalypse.
Its not perfect. As I said, the graphics are not great. Maybe not even good. It can be a little glitchy (but we haven't experienced any real issues here and it constantly auto-saves--no re-loads if you #### up--so the one or two times we had to restart the PS4 because of an error we haven't lost any progress or anything). It is hard (unless you lower the difficulty--I did make it so that zombies only walk at all times, for more of that Walking Dead feel, whereas the default setting is for the zombies to run at night). The mechanics, crafting, inventory management, etc might be too much for some people. We love it, but it depends what type of gamer you are--if you don't mind how Minecraft generally works, if you've ever played that, its similar and similarly clunky--but addicting imo. Also the drawback of the couch co-op is that if you're using it, it has to be an offline local game, you can't play with others online while you have two people on the same console--that doesn't bother us, I think it would be a nightmare to also have to worry about other players taking your resources or killing you online anyways--although I could see it being a blast to play with a group of friends if you were all on the same page and allied. But offline couch co-op is what we use the game for, so I can't speak to the online experience.
Basically its rough around the edges, but it is basically the only game in a REALLY niche genre (at least on consoles)--it gives my girlfriend and I EXACTLY what we were looking for---a crafting/building/survival zombie experience that is difficult but rewards creativity, planning, and exploration.
It was listed between $25-30, but I got it cheaper with some trade-ins...I think its definitely worth that if you like this genre of game at all. Its the best $15 I've spent in a while and we've only had it a week and already put a ton of hours into it--we had a couple "practice" runs where we got destroyed by the first night 7 horde and now we're on day 33 or so and really getting the hang of it.
Any article you find on google about this game will probably be about its horrendous critical reception upon release--a lot of time has passed since then and the game is 100% playable and enjoyable now, has been updated and patched a ton, and to us is great. Especially at less than half the cost of a brand new AAA game that might give you only 25 hours of campaign or something. But on the flip side, if you're looking for a really polished, graphically stunning experience, this isn't it.
I only played the first segment, the Normany beach landing. I don't love campaigns in single player FPSs. I don't get into the "story" and the story hear is fairly unoriginal for WW2 games. You can make it anything from easy enough to walk up the beach terminator style, to have to dedicate two hours to clear a single barn (my favorite part of the campaign so far is to listen to my 14 rage while playing on the hardest difficulty. "Yeah, I'm sure the Germans really would have set up three machine gun turrets and 40 guys just to defend this one stupid barn!").Campaign?

then it might be for you. I don't know that it is very long though. Probably worth it once the price drops significantly.I feel really fortunate. When we met in college, her experience was mainly old Crash Bandicoot and Sonic games, or she and her roommates would drink a box of wine and play something like Crazy Taxi. But it was enough gaming background that she had an interest in the types of games I played. We mostly started with things like co-op Halo and Gears of War campaigns, and had fun. Then Borderlands. But I don't think she really became a legit gamer (and finally got really good with the controller) until Skyrim came out in 2011. I was already an Elder Scrolls/RPG nerd but that one really sucked her in to the point where we had to take shifts playing and then eventually get a second console. That's when the floodgates opened and we went back and played all the nerdy fantasy co-op RPGs from the PS2 days like Balder's Gate Dark Alliance, Champions of Norrath, then Diablo 3 on 360, etc. And she continued having an interest in single player RPGs as well. So now we play anything from zombie shooters to hardcore turn based RPGs like Divinity:Original Sin, and she has her own play throughs for stuff like Fallout 4, etc.I'm jealous of you guys with women that love to play video games. My wife does not care for them all that much so it makes it harder for me to find time to play.
My wife loves videogames, but she's more of a Nintendo DS, etc gamer than consoles. So we usually don't play videogames together, but I get plenty of time to play. We also don;t go to sleep at the same time, so I get a few hours every night to game if I wish. I do feel bad for you guys who are on the same scheduled as your non-gaming partner. I had a girlfriend like that once - not into games at all, and resented me playing. She didn't last long.I'm jealous of you guys with women that love to play video games. Good call on Portal. It is the only game I've ever gotten my wife to play.I feel really fortunate. For anyone trying to get a significant other into gaming (and it might be tougher if there's no gaming background at all to work with), I'd start small and simple and get them into the teamwork aspect of it. Maybe Portal or something fun and short like Rocket League. Then maybe build on it.
Basically they’re just trying to get people through the door. This is likely extra important to them since all the other big releases right now. Once they have enough they’ll bring back micro transactions. Sorry for being so negative of this but their track record with “questionable” tactics is just too much. The blowback was so intense that EA has removed the entire real money loot boxes system as of last night. Of course, that still means it will take 4,500 hours of play to unlock everything. And they indicated that they would be re-introducing the pay system at some point after re-working it.
I didn’t get too far into it but there doesn’t seem to be any reason to play it. It’s boring. It’s not “bad” campaign it’s just not interesting. The characters are cliches and it’s a story that has been done way better (and many times) in video games and movies. There’s no reason to pay more than $8 for this campaign. With the amount of good games that are out there’s really no reason to play this at all. I usually play through the CoD campaign and this year it just felt like it wasn’t even worth my time.Campaign?
To add, I usually jump into the campaign to orient myself with the controls and how different weapons work. This felt exactly the same as what had been done before as far as controls, so there wasn't anything to get used to. As you said, the story was cliche so I haven't had any interest in getting back in. I'm not really sure how they get (kinda) big names to do the voice work (easy paycheck?).I didn’t get too far into it but there doesn’t seem to be any reason to play it. It’s boring. Again, it’s not that you’ll get angry about how “terrible” it is, just nothing about it that makes it worth your time and money.

I missed this on here until I read it on IGN and came back to look in the thread. That is huge that the public blowback on this system is so bad it had to be taken offline before release. Wow, they made some bad decisions when designing this game. The problem is when it takes 4,500 hours of play to unlock everything or $2,100. I haven't played an online FPS since last year. I enjoy them but don't have enough time to get good enough to compete with others so it can get old quick. Fallout 4 would be the closest FPS for me and it gets the majority of my focus. If I'm not playing that then I'm playing Madden. Sometimes I just want to listen to music and play games so Madden takes care of that.I missed this on here until I read it on IGN and came back to look in the thread. Also, question for the FPS guys here. How many hours do you usually spend on these games. I don't do online shooters, so I really don't have any idea. The most time I ever spent on a game was Witcher 3, and that was around 200 hours, but when playing shooters like borderlands, I'm 60 or so hours at most. With the large 30+ hour unlock times for major characters in the SWBF2 do you think most of you will hit one or more of those?
It varies so much between my schedule, how good the game is and how many other good games are out. On average I would say that I get 50 hours of gameplay out of a FPS multiplayer mode. Once you factor in that I’m likely not going to spend over have my time saving up for one character then add in that I’m not that good when compared to most people, there’s probably zero chance I’d ever get to unlock Darth Vader. With the large 30+ hour unlock times for major characters in the SWBF2 do you think most of you will hit one or more of those?

I do and don’t miss it. I’m not sure when the last one I played was but it was too easy too dump large volumes of time into. Also those stupid marching band trumpets. It felt like they never stopped. In a game, before a game, after a game, in the menu. I still hear them in my head.Does anyone else miss the NCAA Football games like I do? By far my favorite football series.
It might be cool to download it and when he says something about the game or wrestling just say “Don’t you have that?” Then when he’s says no turn on the PS4 and go “Yeah it’s right here”. Or let him find it on his own and maybe you’ll get him running out being like “Dad! Dad! Guess what?!”I'd love to get wwe 2k18 for my son but hate that I can't give him a disc to open

I have only played mario but I don't know if the two joy cons you have can be split up? That would be cool. We bought an extra set, but they were 80 freaking dollars so you need to account for that. Ridiculous cost.Debating getting my kids a Switch but have some questions about the controllers
I have 3 kids plus they sometimes have friends over or I play with them occasionally
So is the 2 joycons it comes with plus an extra set enough to play most multi-player games (4 total joycons) or would I need 3 extra sets to ha e 8 joycons total so everyone would have 2 each?

In the past I've wrapped an empty DVD case with a printed game cover in it. I usually have it installed already so they don't have to wait the 2 hours or more to wait to play it either. Then I just reuse the DVD case the next time.I'd love to get wwe 2k18 for my son but hate that I can't give him a disc to open
I’ve been looking at these. I’m tempted to get Quantum Break for $20, and maybe State of Decay for the $7 or whatever it is. I’ve already grown tired of the new COD game unfortunately.Xbox live Black Friday sales have started. Just got Wolfenstein 2 for $30. Among the other good options are Assassin’s Creed for $41, and Witcher 3 complete edition for $20.
Me too - I’m usually out on multiplayer shooters but that one has my interest.I’ve been looking at these. I’m tempted to get Quantum Break for $20, and maybe State of Decay for the $7 or whatever it is. I’ve already grown tired of the new COD game unfortunately.
I am looking forward to PUBG on Xbox - 12/12 I think.
My biggest concern is that I’ve read the tv portions are kind of long. Sometimes it’s tough for me to string more than 15 mins together which is prob why I still play so much Rocket League. Can you pause those portions or is it like an all or nothing cutscene?I played Quantum Break. It's worth a play for $20.
You can pause, rewind, and fast-forward. So you can keep the console on or turn it off and rewatch it via the Timeline menu and fast-forward to your spot.My biggest concern is that I’ve read the tv portions are kind of long. I really like other games from that studio -Max Payne and Alan Wake.
My son and I are debating it. How is it?SlaX said:Are you gonna be playing Battlefront 2 on PC? If so, hit me up.
I think it's much better than Battlefront 1. Maps are gorgeous. I suck at it so far, but I've never been great at Battlefield games either. There's always gonna be someone a thousand times better than I am. It's about fun factor with me.My son and I are debating it. How is it?
We have pretty similar tastes. When you get thru your queue, check out Horizon: Zero Dawn, almost at end game and love it. If you liked Witcher, you’ll dig this game.So I am in Novigrad on The Witcher 3. Simply love this game. Totally immersed in the story too.
I decided for a change of pace to pick up Ghost Recon Wildlands as my brother in-law was raving about it to me for a long while. Well......if you want to play a massive open world tactical military first person shooter with GTA like elements and a robust upgrading system and character load out.....this game is for you.
I freaking love it. You can play at your pace, and approach the literally hundreds of missions available (ton's of side quest missions etc on the path to bringing down the cartel in Bolivia) in different ways (stealth, ambush, guns a blazing). You have 3 other squad mates whom you can give tactical orders at any time. Drone and sync shot capability etc. The game is amazing.
So currently playing:
The Witcher 3
Ghost Recon Wildlands
NBA 2K18
MLB The Show 17
Madden 18
Pretty set for the first half of 2018.
In the que:
Deus Ex Mankind Divided
The Evil Within
Dishonored 2
L.A. Noir Remastered
