Vikes ? Eagles (1 Viewer)

Only call I got tonight was the city saying there won't be trash pick up tomorrow. Is been cancelled until next week. Wasnt it last year there was 20 inchs of snow dropped in philly and they just...shocker..plowed the streets and stadium and the game went on

This is probably the most idiotic decision ever from the NFL. I'm sure we'll be seeing this again, especially if there's another pending "blizzard" and team possibly has injured stars that they wouldn't mind benefiting from a couple more days of rest.
Idiotic how? Cause people safety is first? As I reported, NBC was having problems with their signal, there was a big chance it wouldn't have b televised anyways.
I explained why it was idiotic right after I called it idiotic.

First off, you explained nothing. "Impending blizzard?" Its on going, some areas are near 10" right now.. Some roads are closed, no transportation. Then you blame it on the NFL and resting stars? Of course, if you owned as team and had 90-100 million tied up in players, you would care for their safety. Owners don't care about FF, its the least of their worries. They moved the game back 2 nights, its no big deal, at all. In fact, its happened before, and it will happen again.I think its pretty sad when people continue to ignore laws and public safety for the fact " there isn't anything on TV tonight" factor.

Update on the Blizzard of the Century...about 3 inches so far north of the city. Windy
I think it was the right move to postpone the game. I can't imagine people tailgating for 5 or 6 hours, drinking during the game and then trying to drive home in this.
That's their own problem if they want to drink and drive. We shouldn't be enabling their dependancy.
ROADS ARE FREAKING CLOSED! CAN YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THIS!

The idiotic part is people still putting the blame on the NFL. The city of Philly made the call when they advised people to stay home. The NFL really had no choice. Anyone looking for more here is fishing and just looking for reasons to bash the NFL. You wanna bash Philly, go ahead; but the NFL had no choice. The mayor shut the city down; what else would you expect the NFL to do. Do you really expect them to say... "Your Mayor said not to go out, to stay in; BUT WE ARE THE NFL, come to the game everything will be fine."?

Oh, I think Philly is pretty tarded, too. But you kinda missed my point.

No, I didn't. You said the NFL made a bad decision here; what decision should they have made?

total BS, the bad weather was a chance for some less than avg performances from Vick and his WRs..
:lmao: Here 20 minutes EAST we have about 9 inches so far and 25 mph winds - :2cents:Supposed to keep snowing till noon tommorrow
That's tough, hang in there bud.I'm in a semi final against Maclin and Vick and up 55 points. That's right in the range Vick and Maclin can definately achieve and with that said the NFL made the right choice.Guys, this isn't about the NFL wanting Vick to have good or bad numbers. It's not about wanting Vick to get the MVP.It's about making the best decision they can with the information they have. The city was basically shutting down as a major snow storm was upon them. If the game was a dome, it would have been cancelled because the roads are being shut down. There would have been a lot of accidents and people out in unsafe conditions if they would have attempted to play tonight. If I'm meant to win or if you guys are meant to win in FF, then it'll still happen, if not then so be it. Mike Vick and the rest of the players out there on Tuesday will still have to earn their fantasy points just like all the guys did out on the fields today. It'll still probably be cold and snowy on Tuesday night, so it's not like they'll be playing in Honolulu for the game.

As far as from I can tell, the mayor didn't "shut the city down." He was urging people to stay off the roads and to take mass transportation to the game. That doesn't sound like pandemonium. NFL dropped the ball here.

George: Shouldn't you be at work by now?

Newman: Work? It's raining!

George: So?

Newman: I called in sick. I don't work in the rain!

George: You don't work in the rain? You're a mailman! "Neither rain nor sleet nor..." It's the first one!

Newman: I was never that big on creeds.

Friday when they knew this was coming they should have moved the game right back to the 1 pm start, but that would mean the city and the NFL would have had to act proactively. That is just not going to happen.

KYW Radio 1260

For those of you who doubt how bad it is, tune in. I think they'll be covering the storm for a while. Speed restrictions on the roads, public building closings, and the like.

And if you're playing against Vick, :lmao:

After all the hand wringing, crying, and panic, Philly ended with an official total of only 11.7 inches (half of what was predicted by the mayor) it has snowed more DURING Bills games!

There sure was a whole lot of hand wringing, crying, and panic alright. Seems to still be going on.

The fact that Philadelphians are ####### aside, where are the Vikings? Are they in Minnesota or Philly?
Vikings traveled on Saturday and packed for one night.. Not that they don't have the :goodposting: to go out and get more clothes. Still the Vikings have to feel like :clyde: this year.

If you post a few more times it might change. I'd give it a shot.

So presumably the Eagles will hve access to their facilities sometime today and tomorrow for practice, walk-throughs, and injury treatment, while the Vikes will have what access to what, the hotel's universal gym?I hope a bored Brett Favre does not get ahold of a camera phone.

Dang thought Philly could handle a little snow. Guess not.

Sorry hard that line 1 to many time in the Metrodome threads not dish out a little bit for fun!

Sooo... how's the weather look for Tuesday?

(For those of us Akers owners who picked up Hartley or Bryant as backup.)

As a fan of the NFL this year pretty much did it for me. I found out I no longer know what constitutes a catch or a legal hit. We have a bunch of millionaires (player and owners) fighting over my money and now they remove the "we play in any kind of weather" label from the sport. This is just the last straw in the transformation of the game. Thursday games, especially opening day, and moving the NFL draft to primetime have destroyed a lot of the traditions we had involving football. I will leave this game to the new generation.

I have decided to become a casual fan and only follow the home team when they are winning. I will remain in FF because I play with friends and will lean on sites like this for information. I have had a great 50 year run with the NFL but the game is a shell of what it once was.

Yesterday I went golfing instead of watching the games. I have 3 teams still alive in the playoffs (1 SB and 2 going for 3rd place) and I haven't checked the scores yet. I guess I will wait until Wednesday morning to see how I did.

I will not watch the game on Tuesday and I don’t have anything better planned.

Thanks for entering an NFL contest on FanDuel this weekend. I'm contacting you because your lineup included players from the postponed MIN @ PHI game. I wanted to clarify our rules on postponements and explain how we are handling this exceptional circumstance.

Our rules state that if games are postponed outside the game period (Thu-Mon, Sun-Mon or Sunday only depending on game) then players from those games score zero. According to this rule, the Vikings-Eagles postponement to Tuesday means players from that game will score zero.

I understand that this will negatively impact your score.

Unfortunately, we have to adhere by our rules as published otherwise it would be unfair to users who played by them and changed lineups based on the weather.

However, in this instance it is clear that many users feel that these rules are incorrect or unfair. At FanDuel we aspire to ensure that every user (whether they win or lose) has a great game experience. In this instance we feel we have failed to meet that therefore we are now looking at how we should amend our rules to more closely meet user expectations. We would appreciate your input on that.

Additionally, we are looking at whether we can achieve a more positive result for negatively affected entries. I will email you with regards to that on Wednesday.

Best regards,

Tom Griffiths

Weather.com lists Philly as receiving 12.2 inches of snow. Ten, twenty years ago, this game is played.Like I said - I guess we handle the white stuff better here in Alabama than those rednecks do in Philly. And as has been noted, welcome to the world of fabricated weather hysteria, created by the media to boost their ratings and egos. We have been dealing with this contrived stuff in The South for years in regards to Tornados.I especially love when they block out a pin location in The Masters with a state icon, because there is a severe T-Storm watch in a single county over a 100 miles away.Fifty years ago, people had less advance "Warning", less technology, and still functioned pretty well.

Don't worry, I will be more of a Pain in the ... when I am not watching.

BTW - why not play the game today???

It is a Holiday of sorts, lotsa people off. Why not play at 3 or 4 Pm and create a double header day of sorts? I am now a HUGE Vikes fan this week..................

Due to exclusivity with ESPN and MNF. They can't show another national game. Tonight was never an option. I'm just hoping the NFL doesn't screw the Eagles and make them the Saturday game for the first week of the playoffs.

Probably a combination of NBC and stadium prep.
Stadium prep?? Thought Philly was a tough guy, can do kinda City??I agree on NBC being a fly in the ointment. However, it should be contractually asserted that in such "Severe" and unusual circumstance, that The NFL will make the call on when and where the game is played, for the good of the teams and the League.Playing on a Tuesday night is absurd. And who is to say that maybe the next time, NBC will have a "Survivor" or "American Idol" type finale scheduled, and will want to schedule the game around that?

Vikings and Gaints played on Monday night after the Dome came down (FOX). So did Ravens and Texans. (ESPN)

Were they nationally broadcast?

huh?? ah, yes I HAVE driven the WW bridge in high winds and snow.. there are plenty of bridges in NFL cities.. should we cancel games when the winds are high too??? :pokey:
Well, honestly, if it's not an emergency you're a fool for driving in those conditions, and expecting 60k people to drive in it as well for a football game. Companies close offices when the weather is deemed too dangerous, to expect anything different for a game, is silly.

I heard the Walt Whitman was closed. Not sure if its true or not.

FWIW, the mayor was just on the radio and claimed that he was planning to go to the game and was surprised that it was moved.

He clarified that the snow emergency only means that you can't park your car in specific zones, nothing to do with driving.

Also took a shot at Rendell, noting that he declared a state of an emergency, yet still wanted the game to be played.
