MANKATO, Minn. - Minnesota Vikings strong safety Tank Williams was carted off the field on Saturday after injuring his left knee.
Williams injured the knee while backpedaling during a seven-on-seven passing drill. He did not make contact with any other player, but as soon as he planted his left leg, he screamed and fell to the ground. He had to be taken from the field on a cart.
Williams had problems with his left knee while playing for the Tennessee Titans, and plays with a brace on it.
The veteran signed with the Vikings in the offseason, coming over from the Tennessee to compete for a starting spot. He had taken most of the snaps with the first team defense through the first week of training camp, but he was competing with the newly-signed Dwight Smith for the starting job.
