Clayton's starting the season with a sore ankle, Mcnair is always a hair's width from injury, and Mason gets pissy about not being thrown the ball.

Jackson is sharing the ball distribution with Gates...LT....so what's his real potential as the WR1 on this team?

I like Clayton a lot. He just missed 1000 yards last season. He should be fine by the season opener but the ankle is a concern. Once the Ravens realize that Derrick Mason is done and start making Clayton even more of a focal point in the passing game can he truly become one of the best young receivers in the game.

I went with Vince Jackson to break the tie.

I really like Clayton but will give the nod to the Charger's offense and Rivers. Yes, the Chargers go through LT and Gates. But the Ravens still have (an albeit declining) Mason and Heap and I expect Demetrius Williams to become a factor as well.

i just got clayton as wr4; ten team league and only need to start 2 wr's, but still happy -- little risk here. i worry about jackson's playing time, but still like him.

Jackson will have huge games but be inconsistent. Tough one to start every week. Clayton should be consistent.

PPR - Clayton

TD Heavy - Jackson

I like Clayton a little more just because not only is Jackson the #3 option in San Diego, but also because I think they like all their WR's over there (Jackson, Davis, Floyd...and Parker if/when he comes back). I don't think Jackson has established himself to the point where a large number of the pass plays designed for the WR's will be designed to make him the primary option. I think Clayton is on the rise in Baltimore and is their top receiving option. Mason doesn't appear to have much left and Williams hasn't been a starter yet. There's Heap, but he had nearly as many receptions as Heap last year.

Lots of great thoughts expressed here.

For me, I worry about ankle injuries that come back to haunt receivers....so Clayton makes me nervous. I think he has amazing tools but just worry that between injury, bad weather etc....Vjax may make more sense.

Plus looking BEYOND this year, I think Jax may have more upside. I mean, Gates and LT are going to pull an awful lot of attention away from WR1. But can't you say the same of McGahee (lesser obviously) and Todd Heap?

I see it as a real toss up but my gutt tells me Jackson could be prolific in this setting.

For the most part, Clayton's big games last year were the result of long TDs. I know that sounds obvious but, as far as consistency goes, there is a difference between a big game based on one catch and another based on many receptions. Also, only 5 TDs total and two of those were off deflections. Both these guys are WRs stuck in "run first" systems. I don't expect either one to be consistent.

Basically the way I should have worded it was Clayton will have more Targets ( 5 games with 10 or more last year ) than Jackson. I do think Jackson will get more Red Zone targets however.

On thing going against Jackson is that QB Rivers spreads the ball around (ala Brady), making no receiver (other than Gates) overly useful for fantasy.

seems to me that the VJax voters are overreacting to games where Tomlinson was not even on the field - there aren't that many balls for the WR when he is playing.

Unless the injury hampers him I think Clayton outscores Jackson in any format.

wow. this is very close.

Does qb stability enter into this discussion at all? Rivers is set in stone, young, healthy....Mcnair is at the other end of his career, plays banged up but seems to miss a bit of time here and there of late. How long can he go?

The immediate vote of confidence from the GM last year when Mccardel was let go naming Jackson "our #1 guy" who "has earned it". To me that sounds like a guy they're committed to and behind.

I don't know. I'm fine either way, but I just struggle. I think I also ahve trouble believing anybody in the Baltimore O will ever be prolific. ha

I don't think it's close - to me Clayton all the way. Clayton is theee go-to-guy in Baltimore and if you say Heap is the guy then Clayton is 1b. VJax is the 3rd option on his team and he has Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen as 1 & 2.

Sure Vincent Jackson is more likely (it would seem) to go for 60+ yards and a TD or 2 on a particular week but you can't really rely on that from game to game. He could just as easily give you a clunker. Mark Clayton is more likely to get you the 100 yards and 1 TD or just the 100 yards.

He's more proven also. Where VJax is striving to be, Mark Clayton is already at that level. What Mark Clayton isn't however is healthy. That has to be a factor right now. When he is healthy there's no question in my mind who the better player is.

I think Clayton is the better player and a much better dynasty buy, but Jackson has the better offense (more scoring opportunities). I could see Jackson doing better in a redraft although I'd probably still lean towards Clayton since he could conceivably be his team's top option whereas Jackson will be the third target at best.
