Breaking news stories and inactives will be posted as we get them.

News and Notes

The Eagles shuffled their backers this week. With Akeem Jordan out, Moise Fouku moves into the lineup at SLB, with Chris Gocong moving to the middle and Will Witherspoon to WLB. Expect a lot of dime looks from the Eagles, with Gocong seeing more nickel snaps than usual.

The Bills will use Bryan Scott at WLB this week, presumably in an every-down role, with Chris Draft on the strong side. It’s possible Nic Harris could play some at LB as well. Jairus Byrd and Donte Whitner (if healthy, George Wilson if not) are expected to play safety.

Tim Dobbins probably won’t play this week, but Kevin Burnett practiced all week and likely rotates with Brandon Siler inside today.

Roy Williams was placed on IR this week. Chinedum Ndukwe moves back into an every-down role.

Chris Horton was placed on IR this week. Reed Doughty moves back into an every-down role.

The Seahawks noted this week that they may strongly consider a 3-4 front next year to keep David Hawthorne on the field. For now, it appears to be Hawthorne and Leroy Hill in the nickel, with Aaron Curry in a diminished role.

It’s still unclear what the Browns plan to do at ILB this week after Eric Barton was put on IR. Coaching comments suggest a rotation among four players again this week.

Dawan Landry will rotate at the SS position with Haruki Nakamura and Tom Zbikowski.

Injuries

Keith Ellison, Terrence McGee, Aaron Kampman, Ernie Sims, Antoine Winfield, Ricky Brown, Kelvin Hayden, Sedrick Ellis, Jabari Greer, Akeem Jordan, Stylez White

Larry Foote is listed questionable with a knee injury but is apparently expected to play after only a limited Friday practice. Jordon Dizon, his would-be replacement, was limited all week with a neck injury and is also questionable.

Ray Lewis was listed probable yesterday despite not practicing much with a foot injury. He’s expected to play.

Keith Rivers is very unlikely to play this week. Brandon Johnson will be an every-down WLB in his absence.

David Thornton was limited in practice all week and is questionable. Gerald McRath would again replace him in the lineup, with Stephen Tulloch playing for Thornton in the nickel.

Aaron Schobel is listed questionable but was only able to be limited in practice Friday.

Gerald Hayes’ back injury probably keeps him out of the lineup again this week. Ali Highsmith will fill in on base downs.

Shawne Merriman didn’t practice all week and is questionable to play.

Joey Porter has reportedly been benched for inconsistent play. Matt Roth should see most of the snaps if he sits.

Gerald Alexander was limited all week and is questionable with a shoulder injury.

Kroy Biermann was added to the injury report with a neck injury on Friday and is listed questionable.

Add Darren Sharper to the list. He's questionable (knee) and a game time decision apparently.

Add Whitner as well. He's also questionable (ankle).

NFLN is reporting that Darren Sharper will not play today. I'll confirm when the inactives are released.

any more news on Ladarius Webb? funny once Harbaught says Webb has earned more time he comes down with a injury or illness. Ladarius could emerge as a great IDP where returns are counted

Agreed.Fabian Washington was limited on Friday, so it's still unclear how much playing time Webb will get. Not likely to be a great matchup for a corner against CLE this week, though.

true, since the Browns only complete about 4passes a game his tackle opportunites would be extremely low. and he'd have to hope the opening or halftime kickoff was returnable as it could likely be his only chance at a return

Gerald Alexander (Sean Considine replaces him at SS) and Darren Sharper (Usama Young likely starting) inactive today.

Keith Rivers inactive as expected.

Pregame press card confirms Ndukwe at SS and Johnson at WLB.

Two separate Twitter sources reporting that Cliff Avril is inactive today. He wasn't on the injury report and I'm trying to confirm...

Looks like Larry Foote is active and starting.

Aaron Schobel active today, as is Donte Whitner for Buffalo.

Working to confirm starting Buffalo lineup...

George Wilson starting at SS per Sal Maiorana today. Whitner is active, though, and should see some playing time. Jairus Byrd at FS.

Still every indication that Bryan Scott is starting at WLB, but not clearly confirmed on the press card yet.

I think that's a wrap on the early game information. Best of luck today everyone. Enjoy the games.

I'll post the late game inactives and any other pregame news here as it breaks.

what ???why Avril inactive ??
Beat writer Tom Kowalski said it was a complete surprise and he doesn't know the reason. I suspect no reason will be found until after the game.
I smell some kind of suspension/punishment
That is unlikely. If it were, some news would have come out. I suspect he had a poor week of practice, or something else performance related that Schwartz is unhappy with. He has not hesitated to bench or make inactive starters this year.

Another shocker from the Lions defense. :(

Lions' Louis Delmas out with tooth infection

By Tom Kowalski

MINNEAPOLIS -- Rookie safety Louis Delmas did not start today's game against the Vikings because of an infected tooth. The situation apparently got worse during the team's warmup period. Delmas, who was walking the sideline without his helmet could enter the game -- he's been officially listed as "questionable.''

Veteran Marquand Manuel started in place of Delmas.

Great one Detroit. Why not just make him inactive so we know?

+1 I was one "happy" guy to be starting Delmas and Polamalu as my DBs in one league. :goodposting: The Polamalu injury could not be predicted, but Delmas!!
