News and Notes
The Eagles shuffled their backers this week. With Akeem Jordan out, Moise Fouku moves into the lineup at SLB, with Chris Gocong moving to the middle and Will Witherspoon to WLB. Expect a lot of dime looks from the Eagles, with Gocong seeing more nickel snaps than usual.
The Bills will use Bryan Scott at WLB this week, presumably in an every-down role, with Chris Draft on the strong side. It’s possible Nic Harris could play some at LB as well. Jairus Byrd and Donte Whitner (if healthy, George Wilson if not) are expected to play safety.
Tim Dobbins probably won’t play this week, but Kevin Burnett practiced all week and likely rotates with Brandon Siler inside today.
Roy Williams was placed on IR this week. Chinedum Ndukwe moves back into an every-down role.
Chris Horton was placed on IR this week. Reed Doughty moves back into an every-down role.
The Seahawks noted this week that they may strongly consider a 3-4 front next year to keep David Hawthorne on the field. For now, it appears to be Hawthorne and Leroy Hill in the nickel, with Aaron Curry in a diminished role.
It’s still unclear what the Browns plan to do at ILB this week after Eric Barton was put on IR. Coaching comments suggest a rotation among four players again this week.
Dawan Landry will rotate at the SS position with Haruki Nakamura and Tom Zbikowski.
Injuries
Keith Ellison, Terrence McGee, Aaron Kampman, Ernie Sims, Antoine Winfield, Ricky Brown, Kelvin Hayden, Sedrick Ellis, Jabari Greer, Akeem Jordan, Stylez White
Larry Foote is listed questionable with a knee injury but is apparently expected to play after only a limited Friday practice. Jordon Dizon, his would-be replacement, was limited all week with a neck injury and is also questionable.
Ray Lewis was listed probable yesterday despite not practicing much with a foot injury. He’s expected to play.
Keith Rivers is very unlikely to play this week. Brandon Johnson will be an every-down WLB in his absence.
David Thornton was limited in practice all week and is questionable. Gerald McRath would again replace him in the lineup, with Stephen Tulloch playing for Thornton in the nickel.
Aaron Schobel is listed questionable but was only able to be limited in practice Friday.
Gerald Hayes’ back injury probably keeps him out of the lineup again this week. Ali Highsmith will fill in on base downs.
Shawne Merriman didn’t practice all week and is questionable to play.
Joey Porter has reportedly been benched for inconsistent play. Matt Roth should see most of the snaps if he sits.
Gerald Alexander was limited all week and is questionable with a shoulder injury.
Kroy Biermann was added to the injury report with a neck injury on Friday and is listed questionable.
