W3 Injury Report (1 Viewer)

Pennington INT in OT was direct result of not having the arm strength it looked like. Threw an out that just floated.

Not sure I agree with that. I think McCareins messed up the play, although the commentator echoed your thoughts. The CB broke before McCareins, which makes me think either McCareins and Pennington weren't on the same page, or McCareins was just running an ugly route. Either way, both players looked terrible today. About the only positive thing was the Jets run D was excellent on Fred Taylor.TKO update off the AP wire:

Bills linebacker Takeo Spikes was carted off the field after hurting his right Achilles' tendon in the second quarter of Buffalo's game against Atlanta. Spikes was hurt when he was pressuring Atlanta quarterback Michael Vick deep in the Falcons' end.

Spikes lay on the field face-down for a few minutes and then slammed his helmet to the ground in frustration after he rolled over. He required help getting to the sideline, unable to place much weight on his right foot. Spikes appeared to be in tears when he was carted off.

Any updates on I. Bruce?

I haven't been able to find out anything new.....
I'm speculating that a turf toe injury which is what we've got right now would not be good for a WR as opposed to a RB or other position.Thinking seriously about Kevin Curtis. Any updates on Curtis?

Rodney Harrison is carted off the field in Pittsburgh.....looks to be a serious knee injury.Hate to see any player get hurt.......Discuss.

Sounds like there is a BUT coming from you. If not, let me take the heat for you. I hate to see any player get hurt, but if I had to pick one, it'd be that guy getting carted off the field.

According to reports..return is questionable. This is for Rodney H..

But you have to clarify that like Bernstein did. She said something about this being the patriots so dont read too much into it.I'd be shocked to see him return this game.

About how many passes did he throw after coming back in?Was there a definite difference in the way he was throwing the ball afterwards?

Pennington has had girly arm all year because of the rotator cuff surgery. He wasn't fit when he finally came back. And, there was A TON of speculation that the Jets deliberately downplayed the severity to begin with. This could be a nice "COACHSPEAK" topic. Pro Football Talk had a bunch of print on this topic and they're a pretty hip site.

You think the blow injured, rehurt the arm? Penny's not been effective anyways so far with the new OC's system, as Heimerdinger calls for longer pass plays. When healthy, this wasn't Pennington's forte to begin with, his meal ticket always been his accuracy. They've really struggled, the offense is failing so far.

Even if Penny can play, get on the field, I wonder if Fiedler (if HE wasn't seriously injured) would perform better for the Jets and become the starter. Hey, like baseball, if the starter stinks it up, he gets yanked. If Fiedler will help the team win and Pennington causes the team to lose I would see this as an option.

Jay is not Dan Marino but I happen to think he's a lot better than people give him credit for. He's got talent and the supporting cast there in NY, Coles, McCareins, Chrebet, plus coupla TE's is pretty good. Plus, the offensive system is a little more pass oriented than Miami's Ricky Williams, Wannestedt, ultra conservative, power rushing attack which he played in before. They had some nice playmakers in Chambers + McMichael there but they were certainly misused. McMichael was used frequently as an in line blocker rather than what Saban is having success with now, moving him around like the Chief's do with the fleet footed Gonzo. McMichael begged to be able to do this but blocked way too much. And there's no way a stud WR like Chambers would come in under 1,000 yards on any team but Wannestedt's Dolphins. Fiedler got dogged because he was a 150 yard passer in Miami but he could start for some teams in the NFL. I like him and he's pretty mobile which would help with the Jets having to replace a guy like Kareem McKenzie.

FIEDLER ANYONE? This situation certainly bears watching. Hope we get updates ON BOTH soon!

I'd say he looked 15% less than he did in the first quarter. The big problem is that in the first Q he showed barely marginal arm strength. This is a problem.

Roeth down on the ground...he got twisted around after throwing a pass. May have had the breathe knocked out of him announcers say..

Hey Joe  Went back and cleaned this up some. Runs a lot nicer after the edit. Thanks for the opinion.15% less on an arm that was maybe 80% to begin with could be Very Meaningful.

:stalker: Guys, sharing anything you happen to get on Chad or Jay would be ABSOLUTELY great.

I'm sure you guys care but......... I'm thinking out loud here. Maybe I'm too anxious but I dropped Rattay (over dropping Ant. Wright) for Fiedler. I can however switch it back before the commish processes it though if there is news. I'm looking to cover Culpepper's Week 5 bye and looking for a long term backup solution as well.

Damn!! Jets play Tampa Week 5. Great defense, good passing defense too. #1 in league right now. Made move forgetting I should look at Jets. Itchy, itchy trigger finger from playing in 24/7, 7 day a week, FC/FS drop add league.

Had looked at Baltimore (at Detroit, weak D) and San Fran (looked great initially as Colts were offensive juggernauts, Rattay can post some #'s, and they would be playing from behind. Lots of passing. Now Colts are great on D?) though already. :X
