I’m putting the notes up a little early this week, as I won’t be available for much of the weekend, including Sunday morning. Tony may be around to help post inactives and breaking news, but hopefully everyone can help out Sunday morning to keep this thread the place to be. Thanks.
Paris Lenon didn’t practice Thursday and was limited Friday with some sort of pelvis injury. He’s expected to play.
Brandon Siler was limited most of the week but practiced fully on Friday, Stephen Cooper practiced fully all week. There’s a chance that Siler rotates in on some early downs, but he may move back into the reserve role he was in before Cooper’s injury. Larry English is out for an extended time after re-aggravating a foot injury and Shawne Merriman is still struggling with his calf problem.
Tyler Brayton and Greg Hardy did not practice Thursday, were limited on Friday and are questionable. That should mean more snaps for Everette Brown and Eric Norwood.
Roman Harper only made it through a limited Friday practice with a hamstring injury. Payton called him a GTD. It would probably be Pierson Prioleau who fills in if Harper can’t play.
Antwan Odom was limited with his wrist injury. He was somewhat of a surprise inactive last week and is questionable again. As is Keith Rivers, who was limited with the nagging foot injury again all week. Both practiced fully on Friday.
Tony Brown came back to practice Friday but Jacob Ford missed practice all week. Jason McCourty is out with a broken arm.
Louis Delmas, CC Brown and Cliff Avril have been limited. DeAndre Levy looks likely to miss this week after admitting his groin wasn’t fully healthy last week, Delmas, Avril and Brown should play.
Brandon Chillar hasn’t practiced with a shoulder injury this week.
Clint Session was back at a full practice Thursday and Friday and looks likely to return.
Justin Durant will miss another week with his ankle injury. Russell Allen will be back at WLB and likely an every down player again this week. Sean Considine has been struggling with a hamstring problem and the Jags are listing him as doubtful. Gerald Alexander was re-signed earlier in the week and Anthony Smith should be healthy enough to see snaps, too.
Darrelle Revis is still at least one week from returning. Calvin Pace made it through a limited practice Friday and is questionable.
Paul Posluszny is expected back this week, but Andra Davis is out for Buffalo. Akin Ayodele will take his place as the base defensive SILB. Terrence McGee is out this week; Leodis McKelvin will start with Drayton Florence.
The Niners are rumored to be thinking about starting Navorro Bowman for Takeo Spikes and Taylor Mays for Michael Lewis. Lewis didn’t practice Friday and reportedly requested his release, indicating that he’ll not start this weekend. Reggie Smith may be in the mix as the starter or as a rotational body, but Mays is the player to target. Dashon Goldson has foot and knee injuries and was limited earlier in the week but is listed probable, as is Spikes.
Sean Weatherspoon didn’t practice this week with an ankle injury. Mike Peterson likely slides back into the every-down WLB role. Erik Coleman has been back to limited practices, but Mike Smith hinted strongly that William Moore may remain the SS.
Aaron Curry was limited but practiced fully on Friday and is probable, as is Chris Clemons. Marcus Trufant didn’t practice all week.
OJ Atogwe did limited work on Friday after re-aggravating his thigh injury last week. He’s a GTD, but the Rams get Craig Dahl back and probably won’t push him if he’s less than ready.
Mathias Kiwanuka ruled out with a bulging cervical disc. Keith Bulluck also looks unlikely to play with turf toe. Clint Sintim will likely start in his place. With both Bulluck and Kiwanuka out, the Big Base is probably out, too. Boley’s playing time should be good this week. Osi Umenyiora is having trouble with his knee again and reports are mixed on whether he’ll play. Some have termed him doubtful, others give him a chance since he’s played with the swelling before.
Channing Crowder was seeing more time with the first team alongside Karlos Dansby this week. He looked likely to return and play every down, but didn’t practice Friday and is off to see a sports hernia specialist again.
