Waiver Wire D's for Week 14 (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
Having NYG D taking on Philly this week I am looking for possible optionss on the WW that could come up big. I waited too long to grab Indy but there are still options out there like CAR, ARI, NYJ and NE.

Are you guys sticking with what got you there or looking for a 1 week gem?

I like the Colts defense the next 2 weeks.

vs Bungles

vs Detroit

I planned way too ahead for my Ds... I dropped NYG stupidly due to a matchup and because I didn't want to drop someone else on my team. So I've been going DBC the last couple weeks.

Had DAL the last 2 weeks.

Week 14: NYJ vs CIN

Week 15: IND vs DET

Week 16: NYJ @ SEA

DRDR

Looking at NYJ with a great run D against SF who only has Gore, that might be the play with the scraps in my league. Is that worth benching NYG though?

Gotta say I think i'd stick with the Giants. Credit the Eagles for taking advantage of Arizona last week, but I think that was a fluke (and I'm an Eagles fan).

Arizona having to fly to the East Coast, after playing Sunday night, playing on a short week, with an already 'not-so-great-defense'... I think the Gmen smack the Eagles around honestly this weekend...

Unfortunately as an Eagles fan, I get that feeling too. Still debating the Jets with Leon providing a shot at ST points. Don't think I could ever rely on ARI D. CAR against TB could go either way.Any thoughs on NYJ D?

That great run D got shredded by Peyton Hillis yesterday. I know Gore's in a slump but he's a million times better than Peyton Hillis. Back at home, I think Gore has a shot against the Jets.

Deciding between DAL vs PIT or IND vs CIN
I'll make it easy for you. Go with Indy. Cincy's offense is atrocious and will make a good fantasy option for any opposing defense. Although Pittsburgh has the potential to give up a ton of sacks and turnovers, they also have the potential to lay down 30. It all depends on what offense shows up. Also, the Pitts D tends to put their offense in good positions. Cincy has no potential of putting up 30 and is almost a guarantee to give up a ton of sacks/turnovers.

Im in the same boat blackjack23 and at this moment I am leaning towards the Cowboys. Will have to watch to see if Sanders can come back for Indy and if Carson Palmer is going to play. Really tough call when you think about how many sacks Philly racked up against the Steelers earlier this season and the Cowboys pass rush is just as good if not better. PacMan is also back and will be returning punts and taking over nickel duties he was easily the best CB Dallas had although Newman was hurt and is now finally healthy.

Isn't Hill a turnover waiting to happen?NE @ SEA worth a look?

Another team not previously mentioned is the Miami Dolphins vs Buffalo, I have not read the injury reports but I am ASSUMING that T. Edwards will be held out. Could mean a couple of turnovers for the Phins.

Yes but we're talking about the Bengals here!!! In all honesty, the Steelers performance against the Eagles was an outlier. It was their worst performance of the year and they just looked completely unprepared. They're really not a bad offense when Ben has time to throw. Cincy, on the other hand, is just atrocious. Start Dallas at your own risk.

Im not a Bengals fan by any means but there not as bad as you make them out to be. They tied the Eagles, took the Giants to OT, and lost in the 4th quarter to Dallas. This is a team that you have to be careful with. They have the talent and if Indy doesnt put them away quickly they hang around and gain momentum. Im not excited about this matchup for the Colts truth be told.

We're talking about their offense and it is as bad as I'm making them out to be. The Bengals have scored 151 pts in 12 games this year (dead last in the league). Pittsburgh, on the other hand, has scored 269 pts. The Bengals have turned the ball over 21 times compared to Pittsburgh 16. Cincy has given up 43 sacks compared to Pittsburgh 36. Using standard defensive scoring, Cincy is a much better fantasy option than Pittsburgh for an opposing defense.

Arizona at home against the Rams is pretty yummy. The Indy/Cincy is the other catching my eye.
I have to agree with this. The Cardinals are who I'm probably going to roll with this week. Indy was my other option, but Fitzpatrick is gradually getting a little better and they could put up some points. St. Louis, on the other hand, has been atrocious week in and week out regardless of SJax playing or not. That team is so far from right, it's painful. Essentially any team playing St. Louis equals DEF/ST gold. :goodposting:

What are your thoughts on the Indy D now for week 14 and beyond given Brackett's injury. This is probably the one guy they couldn't lose don't you think? I know Sanders is big but the MLB is the QB of the defense.

I think Cincy will be able to have a couple of long drives during the course of the game and in all likelyhood I think the best you can hope for is 1-2 turnovers by the Colt D and pray one of them is returned for a defensive td (Cincy should score 14-17 points). Still considering Buffalo or Dallas as option no decision as of yet between the 3

For those of us looking forward way ahead because we KNOW we will make it that far....how bout New Orleans Def/St @ Detroit week 16? Reggie Bush shpuld be full speed so who knows...maybe a return TD or two. I'm thinking Brees lights it up and Culpepper may try to play catch-up.

.

What do you guys think about SD D at home vs Oak? SD weakness is there pass D and Oak passing game is a joke.

Or do you think Miami is a better play vs Buffalo in Toronto?

The difference is that DEN had a passing game to respect. NYJ don't have to worry about that with SF and can stack the box. I don't think Gore does much this week.

Is the NE defense done or are they a safe play against SEA this week?
The Patriots absolutely stink from a fantasy perspective but I do think they are looking better than usual this week. Hasselbeck didn't look too bad against the Cowboys but they still have offensive line issues and can't run the ball. Unfortunately, the Pats don't have a pass rush and don't make plays defensively so there's huge downside and only mild upside. In a really large league if you're absolutely desperate they might not be a terrible start. Maybe if you're playing the percentages that just about every defense has at least one decent week during the season and maybe this is the week for New England.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement, is it?ETA: But...the game is in NE. I should think that leans it dramatically in NE's favor. You know, cross-country traveling and all.

Nope. And the game is in Seattle.

Sure is. Don't know what I was looking at.
