Waiver Wire & FAAB Discussion heading into the Week 3 games (1 Viewer)

My Redraft (12 team, ppr)

Steele - 25%
Perine - 15%
Johnston - 10%
Henry - 7%
Carr - 4%
Akers - 2%
Nailor - 2%

Even as a rookie with Pacheco as the lead back, he was getting touches. He fumbled last game and, still, he got the touches after Pacheco went down.
He got two token runs with 30 seconds left so they could run down the clock and kick the field goal. So while correct that he got touches, I am unsure they really had any other option

Drop J. Dotson for Whittington?

Hard to believe this guy plummeted so far. Isn't A.J. Brown supposed to miss multiple games?
I read 2 total, including last week.

Yes. Including last week. Which would leave this one open, too. So what's Dotson doing? Learning the offense, maybe? I don't know. He got crushed last year for his effort and performance, got traded for peanuts, and now isn't sticking with Philly? I'll have to check snap counts or news.

I think Dotson is an end-of-bench stash, even in dynasty. Some teams will drop him for the flavor of the week.

Yeah, and that's amazing because his first year seemed so promising even if touchdown-dependent.
Even though I believe what I just posted, that doesn't mean it's the smart play. Dotson did show something previously, so I'm not convinced he should be a first drop in dynasty.

Put in a 3.5 percent bid on QJ and got him

4.5 percent got me Carr

For reference, same league, Steele went for 25 percent ( not to me)

Downs and Pierce made it through waivers in my 12 team. Not worth dropping Bigsby or Wright for right? Mooney is there too. We have to start 3WR, 2RB and a flex. My current flex is the Man of Steele.

Perine, and that's a significant part of the debate/FAAB spending
But Perine is the pass catching option and not the 1st and 2nd down run out the clock back

I guess I didn't understand your point. Now I get it. I see what you're trying to say. I still don't think Perine is that one-dimensional. I think he can carry the ball and do some tough mudder stuff. He's listed at 5'11" and 236 lbs. I mean . . . Steele is listed at 228 at 6'1"

Don't think Perine is exactly a finesse guy. I think he got his passing down rep because of his blocking in the backfield, actually. That's where Zac Taylor sort of rejuvenated his career.

I spent 21% on Carr in my 1QB league. Second highest bid was $2. I don't mind overpaying with my FAAB, taking big heavy swings early in the season to ensure I get players who can be difference makers.
I agree with this heavy swings strategy. You can't spend it at the end of the year.

I did the same with Braelon Allen. Tossed a good 18% at him because I like the talent. The next highest bid was $0. And I'm not really upset because I really wanted him.

Now the guy that tossed 81% in my league on Steele and no one else even made a bid might be a little upset. :)

I dropped Wright (10 team Redraft) for Allen (RB Jets) due to the mess in Miami. Achane is a monster, Mostert will be back, Jeff Wilson Jr. is good. Wright has his work cut out for him.

So would Whittington be the flavor of the week or does he present more long term upside than Dotson? I mean in that Philly game against ATL, he was non existent.

I realize we’re still talking end of the bench guys here.

I really don't know which one has more long term upside. To me it's a toss-up. Dotson showed flashes in the not-so-distant past and Whittington did in preseason. Dotson has the draft capital and Whittington does not.

Puca Nacua was a 5th round draft pick and Jordan Wi

Actually Whittington was a 6th round pick 37 pick. I know late round guys surprise, but they don't more often than not and higher draft capital guys over them is just playing the odds is all.

Landed Braelon Allen for 3%. Steele went for 27%, Hunt for 43%.

Carr is still a FA and I have Jayden Daniels. Is it worth dropping Chase Brown or Bigsby for him?

$100 FAAB budget:

Carson Steele $35
Derek Carr $11
Mike Gesicki $8
Jalen Nailor $8
Jamaal Williams $4
Blake Grupe $0

ok going through my team, going to drop Caleb Williams since I have AR, for Gibson, Mooney, Pierce or Downs made haven’t decided which one yet.

If you have AR you may want to back him up.

Holy **** Carr is a FA. Dropping Caleb for him rn. Thank you for this lol.

Steele had 5 bids, winner was all in with $100 (CMC owner)
Perine and Hunt were already picked up last week

Steele isn't worth 100% IMO, but I could be wrong. If I was bidding on these guys I would put no more than 10% on any of them, and if I get one, cool. If not, cool.

Steele fumbled last week. He did go back in but the didn't really have other options. Steele scares me to bid that much. Maybe he ends up the next one but it is risky. I'll say this, Andy Reid won't be happy if he fumbles again next week.

Steele runs hard which is good to see but something just doesn't sit right with him. He was a bit too expensive for my blood.

Put a low ball offer in for Steele not really expecting or needing to get him, but I did at 6% of my FAAB. I'm leaning towards playing the wait and see with him after the next 1-2 weeks to see how the backfield shapes out.

You do realize your league mates probably look at this board and can see your 6% bid. The thing with me is that I don't care if I get any of them.

6% seems like a reasonable amount to pay to see if he's the guy.

How would his leaguemates know who TIMMAY is?

And he also said he got him at 6% so his leaguemates likely already know what he bid.

I think he won it with 6% but maybe I'm wrong..
I read it as his waivers hasn't run yet.

Correct, I won him with 6% overnight last night.

I didn't exactly read it as such, but he may have already got him. As for your question about how would his league mates know who TIMMAY is, there are ways to know by what you remember about what they post in the past, or kept record when they join a league what sign-on they use when they post they want to join. I don't do this, but you could. Except when they post a recent trade in the trades thread and it is obvious because that trade just happened in one of my leagues.

But how would they even know who Timmay is?

Unless he truly looks like the spitting image of Tom Hanks.

When citing FAAB percentages, are you referring to the bid amount versus the original FAAB budget that all teams started with? Or, the bid amount versus the amount of FAAB available to the particular team owner?
