Waiver wire pickups for week 6..... (1 Viewer)

I'd throw out Donte Moncrief.

He was targeted 15 times in the game vs. the Chiefs.  Had 76 yards receiving yesterday, and 109 yards and a long TD in Week 4.   Might have changed the Jaguar WR pecking order a bit.
Ya it's weird no one is talking about him.  It's just so hard to trust any type of consistency in that passing offense.  That said, 15 targets is crazy.  Cole actually very quietly had 10 targets too.  I'm not counting on those numbers (for either) keeping up though.  Don't think they want Bortles throwing over 60 times a game many times this season.

J. Wilkins- he is nothing.  Mack is the only one that can touch Hines' starting role or eat into his carries.
Mack is intriguing and may have been dropped in many leagues. Wilkins doesn’t seem to be impressing, Hines seems more of a change of pace guy, and Turbin is largely a short yardage/goal line guy.

If he can get healthy, Mack may be able to win back the role he looked like he was getting heading into the season. The team is badly in need of some semblance of running game to avoid having Luck throw the ball 40-50 times a game.

1, It's the Jaguars. They'd prefer to run the ball and play defense.

2, It's Bortles.

3, having three similar WR options tends to make all three unplayable.

4, Moncreif has yet to emerge as a legit fantasy starter after however many years.

@smbkrypt24 Nobody is suggesting he should be dropped after this week.  NO ONE.  Yet you are saying you're surprised people would drop him after 125 and 2.  Which NO ONE here has suggested.

He was potentially dropped after his 41, 27, 22, and 18 yard games.  Which means he might be a good WAIVER WIRE PICKUP for this week (hence the title of this thread).  What are you missing here?
You're taking way more time than I would explaining this ... more patient man than me!

Yes he belongs in this thread.  Someone suggested in this thread, that he would be a good pickup as some teams may have given up on him after his slow start (like you did).  You disagreed with that suggestion wondering why someone would have given up on him.  Not trying to be condescending, just trying to make this as clear as possible because you don't seem to be understanding it.
dang going hardcore on not only me, but others.  I hope this waiver wire pickup really works out for you.

I admit that he wasn't on my waiver wire before this week and didnt understand why he would be after this week.  So the error in my ways was that some short bench league didnt have him rostered and I didnt understand why he would be on the waiver wire after this week.

Ya I'm pretty sure he's doing this on purpose now.  He can't actually be serious with that lol
I admitted I was wrong and you want to continue this instead of diving in on waiver wire pickups? common lets be a supportive community not one that preys on errors.

Dude I'm trying to be supportive lol.  Really really hard!

Ok last time, and if you don't get this, I know you're trolling.

Week 6 waiver wire pickups is a thread for people who will be available on waivers at the START of week 6 (when Waivers run Wednesday October 9, or Thursday October 10).  Therefore, Anderson will likely be on most waivers at that point.  They are players that had a good week 5 (like anderson) and will be a good week 6 waiver pickup (in 2 days).

Alright man I apologize for not being on board before. He should be a good WR3 moving forward.

OK --so this is bad, but I have been traveling --is Bell officially done with Steelers?
Not officially done. From what I've heard/ read he intends to come back week 9 (I think), but they're still shopping him.

So, while not really a waiver (Bell owned in like 100% leagues), this news could force Philly's hand to make a move and a ROS Lev Bell in Philly could be huge.

Either way, I think Smallwood NEEDS to be a priority claim now.

Smallwood has to be the #1 WW pickup of the week, ya?
Why? Did Ajayi get hurt? I know he's got a broken back, but he should be fine to play with it. Is this just a super handcuff? Otherwise I'd think Morris, Blue or maybe even Davis in Seattle are better picks.

Eta nm. Torn acl whoa.

Not one word of Corey Clement here.

He is currently "only owned" in 24% of yahoo leagues.   Check your wires, he may be available because he missed the last couple weeks.

I know this Philly RB backfield is murky, but in week 3 he had 16 carries plus a few passes.  Was he trending up since Ajayi was hurt?

I know Smallwood was the hot name to mention since he is widely available, but unless I'm reading this wrong, isn't COREY CLEMENT the back to own now once he gets healthy?

NOTE - Clement was actually active this week, so he must be close to playing.

Any Philly homers here may have a little more insight into this.

I'm looking at D'onta Foreman - he's on schedule to comeback in week 7 according to this article.  He was on the cusp of winning the job last year when he got hurt, and Miller / Blue aren't setting the world on fire.  Getting him this week will be free as next week there will be more talk about him I'm sure.  I have a deep bench and room for another speculative RB so he's my target this week.
FWIW

Foreman remains on the Physically Unable to Perform list, but has apparently avoided any recent setbacks with his left Achilles' tendon. Dougherty relays that the soonest the 22-year-old would be able to return is early November, so Alfred Blue looks poised to continue serving as the No. 2 running back behind Lamar Miller for at least a few more weeks.

Would Josh Reynolds or Marquez Valdes-Scantling be the better pickup, both this week and longer term?  Both of these guys seem like they have potentially great opportunities immediately, although Scantling appears to be getting far more looks.  Both receiving corps seem to be decimated with injuries, but LAR seems to be a worse option long term since Cupp and Cooks will be back once they pass concussion protocol.

Tre’Quan Smith. I had a feeling the rookie would break out with Ted Ginn out. Glad I picked him up before the weekend!

Having trouble staying off of Foreman. My impulsive self is saying yes as he's the young gun and heir apparent, but my brain hearkens back to the medical study cited in the Foreman thread about his kind of injury taking >1 yr to fully regain form.

I already have a decent amount of Trequan.  As much as I'd like it to be true, i don't think he's going to get a ton of looks the rest of the way. Spliiting scraps with Ginn, Meredith, TEs, etc.

Who would you rate higher as a ww add: Taylor Gabriel or Chris Godwin?

godwin gets less targets, and we don’t know how Jameis will use him.  Does Jameis go back to forcing the ball to Evans and Brate and maybe some Humphries?  Or does he give godwin his chance?

gabriel looked incredible in week 4 and has more targets than Godwin.

No one really knows, probably not even Bell, but the reports said that he was planning on joining the team in time for the Steelers bye week (Week 7) so he can get a paycheck for doing nothing.

I had drafted him late...  (we have Rookie Keepers).. had to let him go but I liked what I saw from him early, but not enough targets.  With the heavy draw MT was getting, and the assortment of NOS weapons, I just don't see him being a viable target unless in a deep league...  and how long will Ginn be out?

Debating between Chad Kelly and Teddy Bridgewater as a stash for 2019.  If Brees were to retire after 2018, does Teddy get the keys to that offense?

(Although the way my season is going in that league, I may soon be able to make room for both :bag: )

i would pick gabriel considering anthony miller is out. speaking of humphries, he was busy 2nd half of week 4 when jameis entered the game

I just don't see Brees retiring after this season.  He is still playing at a high level, the offense has pieces in place and the defense is young and improving.  The window is still open beyond 2018 for New Orleans and I think he sticks around at least one year to see what happens.  I'd go with Kelly.

That's how I have them prioritized as well.  I've had Kelly off and on last year and earlier this year, but had to drop him to cover Hilton missing the same week that I had Godwin and Robinson both on bye.  Saw Teddy's name in an article last week as a possible heir apparent.

agree with these on Smith, so as long as u're not looking for someone to save ur season and looking for a long term hold (keeper/dynasty) or a bye week fill, not a bad pickup in Smith. feels like i drafted, dropped, picked up, dropped, etc on Smith all year. Good to see him finally get work with Ginn out and his yards and two TD's obviously stand out, but he got 3 targets and caught all 3 to get there. 5th in target for the game, though he did outsnap Meredith. if Ginn is back quickly, i don't see enough value here.

for those of you considering clement/smallwood, strongly suggest reading all of this thread.

I don't know if he will do much, but the narrative is right for Ronald Jones.

Barber ineffective, Jones had more rushes in week 4, bye week to reset the game plan.  Under 20% owned in ESPN leagues.

Thinking that Godwin will be more than a deep threat with Winston in control as they connected twice in preseason on short yardage redone targets and and Barber seem to be more productive with Winston in also.  Godwin and Barber could be sneaky early pick ups this week especially with Barber probably on the FA list.

Totally agree with narrative and opportunity, I think the problem is (and the reason I am staying away) is that the O-line is bottom third and Jones looked like garbage in the preseason.

There are a few lottery tickets like this that I’m wary of - Foreman is another, a guy with fresh legs coming into a situation where the lead back hasn’t cemented the job, but staying away given that O line is also bad and the data doesn’t look good for players returning from that injury right away.

Willing to be wrong, but there sometimes more than just the current lead back not cutting it. And sometimes the reason why that lead back isn’t succeeding will also affect anyone behind them.
