Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (trailer) (1 Viewer)

Watching the previews of this, I think it looks ridiculous. They must have offered Michael Douglas a truckload of money to reup.It looks like they're going to copy the exact same story from the first film. Gecko mentors a young broker who in the end discovers Gecko is evil and turns on him. Oh and a woman comes between them.I loved Wall Street but this looks like an abortion.
Unless they heavily edited it and reshot most of the film, this is incorrect. The plot centers on the murder orbs hedge fund manager. Josh brolin is the bad guy. Gecko works to redeem himself by helping the kid "get" brolin.
I haven't done any research on the film, just basing my guess on the 30 second commercials running on ESPN. (Not sure if Brolin was even in those?)Instead of Daryl Hannah coming between them, Gecko now has a daughter. At one point Shia asks Gecko, "Is that a threat?" "Absolutely"Watching the full trailer Gecko is once again giving a speech to a large audience. He's gonna talk about greed some more.

It was okay. Some classic Gekko moments, some strained, some out of character. Lots of nods to the original. Hated LaBeouf and Brolin, but nobody's going to the theater to see anything but Gekko, anyway.

6/10.

Its very clear that Oliver Stone understands there is a new film idiom out there. It is painfully clear that he does not understand that idiom and when he tries to force himself into it the result is pretension. He has no art, and in fact no craft left. We are given cameos, strained idioms, bad metaphors and a jumble of what cannot be called style but rather simply confusion.

It was shameful and embarassing. It was to the original what a burp is to a meal.

Shia LaBeouf needs to be beaten severely with a tire iron. Its a sad state of affairs in Hollywood when this dude is getting roles. He may be the worst actor of my generation.

Oliver Stone never had any art, taste or talent to begin with. Natural Born Killers is the biggest pile of dog #### that I have seen this side of The Happening.

The onscreen "chemistry" between the charisma-free LaBeouf and the equally charisma-free Brolin was really difficult to sit through. Brolin, to his credit, at least looked the part. The big trouble to me, though, was...

Even just a purely exploitative character study like "Hannibal" was to Silence of the Lambs would have been quite a bit better. The film "Gekko", following Gordo's travails from the time he gets out of the pokey to present day, with 2008 and the collapse as a dominant backdrop would have been much more fun.
