Warren Sapp- Boy doesn't tip (1 Viewer)

A little bit smarter, a little bit nicer and he wouldn't be the mess that he is. I like him on TV but crap like this makes his personal issues feel like karma. No sympathy whatsoever.

Everything I read about Sapp makes it seem like he's a huge #######.

Having said that, Black men generally don't like being called "Boy". If the server didn't know, that she knows it now. a $9-12 tip stiffing is not the worst way to learn this lesson.
Please be joking
Not joking. and I'm not defending Sapp, I generally think he's an ###. and I don't doubt that she probably meant nothing by what she said.

I also doubt she'll call another group of men boys next time.
When I go out with coworkers to a sports bar, Texas Roadhouse, or some less than formal restaurant, we usually get called boys, unless it's a male waiter. And even with male waiters, if it's some guy in his 60's or older, calling us boys isn't rare.
I didn't realize you were black.
Isn't it ironic that your argument about racism only further perpetuates it?

Little know fact: Deniece Williams 'Let's Hear It For The Boy' was written about Warren Sapp.

Impossible to know because nothing hurts our feelings

One of the best things about social media, perhaps the only "best " thing, is that people who participate aren't able to hide from who they are. Warren sapp is an #######. That hasn't been in dispute, well, ever. Events like this at least shine a light on it.

I'm boycotting.

Warren Sapp wasn't offended by this waitress saying boys, he simply wanted an excuse to be a cheap *******.

Boys and boy might only have one letter difference but they are miles apart in terms of meaning

I disagree. I think gossip stories like this and others have an overall negative effect on society and serve really no useful purpose.

Dude is a bully

Anyone remember him on Punk'd? Similar scenario where a waitress ignored him. He was less than classy.

Warren Sapp not tipping because he took offense to something isn't gossip? Jesus, what else is it?

What happens if it's gossip, but true?

plenty of gossip is true.

It's not gossip to talk about people in front of their face, which seems to be how this conversation (and others like it) is playing out on the internet. Which was my point.

Warren Sapps mentality is, and always has been, that nobody would give a crap about who he was if he wasn't a football player, and they would likely look down on him for being black. He has mellowed over the years, but this is ingrained in him. Warren Sapp hates white people.

I'm surprised he got in the HOF as a first balloter. This is the type of behavior that's kept Charles Haley out. He's been way overdue.

Not possible, black people can't be racist.

He has said repeatedly that his best friend ever in the NFL was Brad Culpepper--a white guy. I have heard Sapp praise Culpepper as one of the most underrated DL in the game.

:goodposting: If she hadn't addressed them as boys, he probably would have stiffed her for only refilling his coffee 3 times instead of 6 times.

Seems to me a man would have recognized that the waitress just made a mistake which, he could have gracefully overlooked or turned into a face to face teaching moment. Instead he did what a child would do; leave no tip, write what he thought was a clever note and then leave (probably before the waitress had a chance to read the note).

Or, he just needed an excuse to be cheap.

Hopefully Sapp learned a lesson from this as well. I was at the golf course yesterday and my friends had played the day before. The female bartender said to me "All the boys were here yesterday" Of course the boys were all men in their 40s. It is a term of endearment. It is not like saying "You watch your mouth boy"

OK.

I have to admit that responses to this sort of story always fascinate me.

How can any of you pass judgment and pick a side without having actually been there? IMO journalistic integrity is ####. It seems that most journalism yellow (perhaps just my perception). Writers are trying to incite outrage and get you emotionally charged. I can't help but think people fill in the blanks and missing information with their own prejudices.

Is this more proof that the hardest three words for anyone to say is "I don't know".

Exactly. It's sad that some people are either too dense or too worried about being offended, to understand this.

Events like this give you the opportunity to reinforce your stereotypes. I don't put any faith in a story about a celebrity being an #######.

Could he have been awful? Sure. Is there a chance the waitress was way out of line? Sure. I think both are plausible.
