Wednesday Twitterings (1 Viewer)

I'm going to try to make this a regular deal each week if I can. Brief look at some of the things that caught my eye this week. Some 140 character snippets of what goes into my RTD each week.

Follow me on Twitter or visit this page for other random musings as I have them and lots of retweets of injury news and beat writer speculation as it comes across.

Thoughts on Cushing, Levy, the Bills and Titans posted this AM. Injury news and notes likely to break from the locker rooms shortly.

I've been resisting, but I guess I'm gonna have to surrender and sign up for this Twitter business.

Any thoughts on Mcrath? Great week but inconsistent so far..any changes to scheme or was this week a fluke?

did all those tackles come on downs 1&2 or was McRath playing in the nickel this week against San Diego?
McRath didn't take a subpackage snap last week, but the Titans faced 71 snaps last week and had 62 tackle opportunities on 34 rush attempts faced. Interestingly, though it likely won't impact McRath much, the Titans benched Will Witherspoon and went with a dime package in the fourth quarter. They've had so many injuries in the secondary that the dime has never been a possibility. We'll see how that develops after the bye week.
McRath still in that 1-3 solos most weeks and 5-7+ solos in others tier for me.

He's not expected to play in Week 9, but definitely has the potential to add something to Buffalo's awful defense during the second half of the season. The big question is how healthy he is, which we'll start to know once he gets on the practice field with the Bills. Assuming he's anywhere near 100 percent, he should be starting games in the very near future on this unit, as they have very few pass-rushing threats.

Any clarification yet on Bishop's chances of staying in the nickel? Or is it a foregone conclusion that Chillar replaces him? Many thanks!

what about merriman's value on the bills?
I wouldn't expect much more than a situational player for now, unless he proves himself as an every-down 3-4 OLB again.

Unfortunately, no. Chillar replaced Bishop in Q1-Q3, Bishop replaced Chillar in Q4.

Not sure this is certain enough for its own thread yet, but just retweeted the following from Yahoo's Charles Robinson:

An AFC West source tells me a nice contract extension is coming for Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson. He's not going anywhere.

Not sure when the Derrick Johnson extension will drop, but my AFC West source tells me it's in the works.

Obscure note, this would be only the second contract extension given since Pioli took over. The other? LB Andy Studebaker who most believe is basically being groomed by Mike Vrable to be in his image.

so one could reasonably expect his on field performance to decline after signing the extension?

Bishop, passes the eyeball test for me. I thought he played well in the nickel, the fact he seen 4th qtr snaps in close game is encouraging. He looks like the best LB outside of Matthews.

I'm dreading the Dallas game. My pessimistic hunch has Bishop sitting alot in this game. He has looked good to me as well but Chillar needs to have a role right?
