Week 08 2024 who should I start thread **OFFICIALLY UNOFFICIAL** (1 Viewer)

Defense question:

* KC D @LV - The LV offense made the LAR D look really good last week. Minshew back at QB and he's an INT machine. J. Meyers could still be banged up so it's Bowers or bust. On the flip side, KC has not been getting to the QB.

or

* LAC vs NO -- Denver D went nuts against NO last week, but it looks like Olave will be back along with T. Hill and some offensive line help. Rattler still at QB.

Which?

Thanks
KC

PPR league. Need a flex.

* C. Hubbard @Den -- Terrible matchup. DEN held Kamara to 10 yards on 7 carries last night. Chubba averaged 8 carries in his previous B. Young starts and 17+ i n Dalton starts. Hard to see ceiling here.

or

* JSNjigba vs BUF -- DK could be out. Has not practiced. BUF D is very good against perimeter WRS (i.e. Lockett) but is pretty average to poor against the slot (JSN). Could get a lot of cheap PPR points. SEA and Geno are also slinging it quite a bit and should have to keep up with Buffalo.

Which?

Thanks
Hubbard

In superflex I had Herbert starting over Stafford but with Puca and Kupp back and Herbert’s whole WR room on the injury report I’m thinking of a flip flop.

I also own Puca and wondering if I should slide him in over Jaxon Smith and Dionta Johnson. I really want to wait and see on him. But the Thursday stack sounds like fun. Or a big fat pile of poo. I can’t decide.
DJ is a tough start in Denver with Young at QB. I would probably start Puka/Stafford.
You sir… are a scholar and a saint.

I need one flex in full PPR, from a WR whose value is tied to other injured players.

Pearsall vs DAL
Christian Watson vs JAC
Bateman vs CLE

I currently have Pearsall and need to win to keep my playoff hopes alive, but I'll also need a flex in week 9 and he's on bye.

Upside is Watson, else go with Pearsall.

PPR league. Trade question.

Feel like the window is closing on selling C. Hubbard. I'm not starting him this week. The next two weeks look like decent matchups (NO, NYG) then it's the bye week. I could see Brooks eased in at minimum here. The schedule looks tougher too: KC, TB, @PHI. In addition, who knows...maybe B. Young remains the QB.

My sights aren't too high here.

Trade:

* I GIVE: C. Hubbard & NYJ D (don't need, but other owner needs a D)
* I GET: R. Dowdle

Thought process here. Dowdle, while not terribly impressive is still their starting RB. Bye week over. Schedule looks pretty darn easy too. Could see Dallas getting it together (albeit maybe too late).

Trade value charts have Hubbard and Dowdle close to equal or at least in the same ballpark.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Assuming Daniels is out this weekend, start Cousins (on my roster) or drop Cousins for Nix and start Nix? Also Andrews or Kincaid (.5 ppr)?

I want to say Cousins but he has been spotty. Plus TB is down their top receivers so I don't see them putting up a ton of points, ergo Cousins may not need to play hero here. Nix uses his legs a lot so that is a plus, and his matchup is great. I'd lean Nix actually.

Why not ride the hot hand in Andrews. The volume is lower than Kincaid's but Lamar seems to be looking his way in the endzone the past few games.

Assuming all things being equal - who would you rather have Pollard or D Smith?

Who would you rather - Goff, Geno, Stroud?

Real dart throws here. Watson has the best matchup by a good margin.

But I kinda like what I am seeing from Bateman this season. Defenses may have to start putting a tenth man up front to try and contain the Ravens run game. There should be a couple quality deep opportunities for him each week. His 18.8 y/r average is impressive.

I don't know enough about Pearsall. But if Kittle, Jennings and Deebo are playing I would go with

Bateman>Watson>Pearsall

Not sure why you would get rid of Hubbard. Dude is balling. He was impressive last season with zero support around him. I wouldn't trade him for Dowdle myself.

This week will be tough for him in Denver with no Thielen or Diontae but overall Chuba>Dowdle IMO.

I like it. I'm short on RB and am looking to acquire Dowdle as my RB2. I agree that he has some upside if the Cowboys get the offense going. Not expecting great things from him, but quite serviceable, though I seem to be higher on him than most

It's a push but I lean Cousins because he has plenty of upside and a higher floor IMO.

I ride the wave with Andrews. The Baltimore pass catchers don't see a lot of targets but the ones they do are generally high quality.

He is, but if Bryce remains the QB his prospects dim and as each second passes J. Brook's time comes closer.

And if Chubba is a dud this week against a tough DEN D facing a Bryce led offense minus D. Johnson, his value will plummet next week. This could be the last time you get decent value for him.

Assuming all things being equal - who would you rather have Pollard or D Smith?

Probably Devonta over Pollard but it's close.

Your QB choices are close enough to be a coin toss. I would choose the guy you want to root for. Personally I like Goff but it's very close.

Do we think Dalton isn't going to take the job back when he's healthy?

I have zero concerns for Brooks in 2024. If this is dynasty then it's a different matter.

Standard Scoring

Who to start at FLEX?
Mattison vs KC
Sutton vs Carolina
Dell vs Indi

Took 2 0's from Sutton and Dell last week and won by 1. Can't afford that this week. WDIS?

Marttison has had 18, 19 & 26 opportunities the last three games. He's the volume play.

You can hope the Broncos roll the Panthers, they should and that Sutton will be a part of any lead they develop but... Not sure I have confidence in that.

And it looks like the Texans offense is really all about spreading the ball around. Dell should do well enough but I think it's time to question his upside.

I probably go with Marttison and cross my fingers.

Marttison>Sutton>Dell

Standard scoring

Otton vs Falcons
or
Kmet @ Commanders

Also struggling at WR this week with Collins still out and DK likely to be out. Need to pick something up, following are available, who do you choose for a 1-2 week rental?

Lazard (playing @ Patriots, Texans)
R.Bateman (playing @ Browns, Broncos)
Lockett (playing Bills then BYE)
Pittman (playing Texans, Vikes)
J.Jennings (if he plays, Cowboys, BYE)
K.Allen (@Commanders, @ Cardinals)

Hmmm tough one at TE. Otton might get a lot of attention... but he is one of the last receivers standing in TB... I still think I lean Otton.

For that second question:
Jennings > Lazard > Pittman > Allen > Lockett > Bateman

I'd go with Otton. Just seems like he's in line for a lot more targets than Kmet who is more TD dependent.

For this week I would take Jennings with both Bland & Parsons trending out (last I saw).

I would probably swap him out for Bateman next week. Tough matchup but defenses playing Baltimore have more to worry about than Bateman. He's a solid two week dart throws overall.

The other two week play is Keenan who has the best matchups for sure.

My regularly scheduled QB question. 6 point passing TD

Geno Smith vs Bills (Metcalf is Doubtful, MLB Bernard out for Bills)
Kirk Couins at Buccs
Bo Nix home vs Panthers

FBG Consensus has Nix at 5(!) , Smith 14, Cousins 18

The matchup for Nix couldn't be better and the Broncos aren't shy about letting him run. I can completely understand the ranking. I am hesitant about putting a rookie in over a guy like Cousins who has a plus matchup as well...

But if you look beyond the shine of Cousin's 500 yard game he hasn't exactly been great.

Ditto for Geno. Lots of yards and not much else.

Nix>Cousins>Geno

With DK out, do you start Noah Fant vs Buffalo as flex over Trey Palmer vs Atlanta or Kirk vs Green Bay? I’m leaning towards it.

Darnell Mooney vs the bucs
Zay Flowers Vs Browns
Keenan Allen Vs Commanders
Troy Franklin Vs Panthers
Cole Kmet Vs Commanders
Tank Bigsby Vs Packers

PPR league. Redraft. Trade question. Kinda pinged you on this Chaka before.

* I GET: R. Stevenson
* I GIVE: C. Hubbard

Rationale for Stevenson: Maye providing a spark, schedule opens up after NYJ and TN.

Rationale against Hubbard: While he has a couple good matchups on tap the next two weeks if CAR completely craps the bed against DEN he'll be unsellable. There's also a chance Dalton's sprain is more severe so B. Young would continue to start taking the offense (not to mention Dionte gets traded?). After the bye week they have KC, TB, @PHI. And of course, while it's possible J. Brooks doesn't see the field, well, he could.

In short, I see more value with Stevenson the rest of the year vs. Hubbard.

Thoughts?

0.5 PPR, need flex help:

- WR Olave vs. Chargers

- RB Hubbard vs. Broncos

- WR Myers vs Chiefs
No idea. I want to say Hubbard but the matchup is brutal, even more so without Diontae Johnson, Adam Thielen and compounded by Bryce Young being under center. Broncos might put 12 men in the box.

Myers should be decent due to high volume and the Chiefs are better again the run than pass.

Olave is hoping for a big play.

Myers>Coin toss

With DK out, do you start Noah Fant vs Buffalo as flex over Trey Palmer vs Atlanta or Kirk vs Green Bay? I’m leaning towards it.
I guess. But I might roll the dice on the unknown in Palmer.

They're all kinda coin tosses.

Darnell Mooney vs the bucs
Zay Flowers Vs Browns
Keenan Allen Vs Commanders
Troy Franklin Vs Panthers
Cole Kmet Vs Commanders

Personally I roll with Zay. He can get open a lot against most defenses and with the Ravens running game firing in all cylinders he should be open all day. Bum ankle or not.

After that, probably Keenan. He's becoming a safety valve for Caleb.

My thought is I think you really want to trade Hubbard. So you probably should.

Between Dowdle & Rhamondre I might risk it with Dowdle. Just based on the notion he is on a significantly better offense.

Yeah, I'm debating picking up Bo Nix and starting him over Kirk Cousins. Really nice matchup this week for Nix, but if the Broncos score 15 points that's probably enough to win this game, and the DST could do that all by themselves. So how much are they going to even attempt to throw?

It is a home game, so that might give them incentive to run up the score to give the fans a nice show, but I could also see Nix sitting out the whole fourth quarter. But he is a rookie, so play experience is playing experience, and he only missed 2 snaps when they blew out the Saints.

And when someone might say the ranks are "all over the map", I don't think I have ever seen such a divergence of opinion about a player. Here is where each FBG person has him ranked for this week as of today (I'm pretty sure one of these guys had Nix at 32 earlier in the week):

1 - Maurile Tremblay
3 - Jason Wood
5 - Justin Freeman
7 - Bob Harris
14 - Sigmund Bloom
17 - Jeff Bell
17 - Dave Kluge
19 - Joey Wright

The thing about Nix sitting out the fourth quarter, which I think is unlikely, maybe the last six minutes, is it means the Broncos probably put up 30+ points to that point. Hopefully Nix will have a part of that.

They don't bench QBs in two score games.

It's a tough call because he hasn't been much as a passer. But he's been very productive when you consider his rushing.

But, yes ultimately it's tough to slot him over Cousins or Geno.

I am an underdog this week. PPR league who would you start at flex?

JSN with Metcalf likely out against Buffalo
Chubb against Baltimore

Thanks!

I want to say Chubb but JSN is probably the right call. He gets a lot of volume even when DK is healthy.
