WEEK 17 (1 Viewer)

With the 3rd slot locked up, Philadelphia has nothing to play for, or do they?

Having played like goo against the Vikes, will Reid play the starters for the whole game against the 'Boys?

I am not clear on the severity of Vick's injury either. Any homers with links?

Not a homer, but all I can go by is what I saw last night. Vick didn't look "banged up", he looked hurt there late in the 4th. I'd be moderately surprised if he played this week. My guess is Vick and DeSean have a week 17 bye and McCoy will have limited work at best.

I would be shocked if Vick plays. He's hurt, is invaluable for the playoffs, we have nothing to gain/lose, and Kolb is good enough to win and by showcasing him it further increases the potential value in having his rights for a trade this offseason, if the team wants to go that route.

I don't have the link, but my email from Rotoworld this morning said they expect Vick and Jackson to not play this week.

I have both, so I am planning on not starting either of them this week.

Vick limping heavily after Tuesday's loss Michael Vick completed 25-of-43 passes for 263 yards, one touchdown, and one interception while adding eight rushes for 63 yards and another touchdown against the Vikings in Week 16.

The Vikes brought the house early and often, battering Vick over and over again to the point where he looked like a punch-drunk boxer by the fourth quarter. It was the worst Vick has looked this season, struggling to recognize Antoine Winfield on the corner blitz and failing to read coverages. Vick lost two fumbles and would have been picked four times if Vikes defensive backs could catch. With 29.5 standard-scoring points, Vick still did well enough to put some fantasy trophies on the mantle Tuesday. He was limping heavily in the locker room after the game due a quad contusion sustained on the first play of the game. With the Eagles locked into the No. 3 seed, it's going to be hard to resist the temptation to rest Vick in the season finale. Dec. 29 - 12:01 am et

vick was limping bad. hurt his quad.

my league championship is week 17 and i'd rather have him sit then play 1 half.

kolb should be burning for a good showing too.

Vick is not playing next week. It is essentially a bye game next week in my opinion. Not the bye week we wanted either.

I think we will see some Kolb, J. Harrison, Harbor, Cooper, Hall.

the question becomes for those of us still playing for something...what do we expect out of the backups? Kolb is good and a lot of teams don't give it a 100% the final week so it could a shoot out...or they could just lay down and do nothing.

I'd keep expectations very low. The Cowboys D has played better over the second half. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a low scoring run-fest as both teams probably want to put in their 60 minutes and get off the field.

First off I feel for those playing week 17 titles games. Your league stinks...change your rules and get with the program. It ends up being a back up fest and is lame.

Secondly, Vick is going to be out and any team already locked up will not play their starters for most of the game unless it is a rivalry like Chicago/Greenbay or New England which seems to never rest their guys.

Bottom line is week 17 title games are bogus.

Week 17 Super Bowls are frustrating as all get-out, but we decided that it adds to the fun of our league. We've talked about changing our league rules, but each time, we come down on the side of keeping our wacky week 17 championship. Playoff waiver pickups require you to look ahead to who may or may not be playing, who may or may not have something to play for, etc., in addition to the regular criteria about who to put into your lineup. I can only stand it one of my leagues, but we think its fun.

well, considering Vick was a waiver pick up, the team should be able to compete or it wasn't really a good team

I hear ya. My long time local redraft which folded in 2003 (15 year league) always had week 17 title games, until finally we got a majority vote in 2001 and changed to week 16. It is wacky and very frustrating. yeah some foresight is needed but man it punishes you for drafting stud players on very good teams. That sucks.

I posted in the Eagle thread that Kolb is the starter, in fact he went into work today on the teams day off to study the gameplan.
