Week 2 Game Thread - Philly at Dallas (2 Viewers)

Hook and ladder.....it was actually well designed. Dallas didn't bite and get sucked up on the original receiver but I could see how that could work if defenders bit.

That last little bit there reminded me why I hate the Cowboys, the owner, and all the other cr@p that franchise stands for.

Ugh, as an Eagles fan that was brutal, we just let too many games slip away like that.

Give up big plays, make big mistakes, and tighten up when the game's on the line.

Good game Cowboys, you made the plays you needed to win, lets do it again in Week 17.

 High entertainment. Wish they could all be that exciting.

 Who knows, that game might decide the NFC East.

What a game. Completely lived up to the hype. All I can say is, if I was a Dallas fan, I would be nervous right now. I will put on the line right now. They will not win the division. They will get beat in the playoffs.......again.

I can buy the getting beat in the playoffs, but I bet they win the division. They really need to clean up the ####### penalties if they're going to succeed in the postseason.

Tony Romo said it well in the post game interview on the field. We beat a good football team tonight, and I believe that.

Last year, in Week 1 Dallas beat NYG 48 to 38 and after that game, I felt disappointed. Disappointed because I didn't think the Giants were that good going into that game. Little did we know that they'd end up winning the Super Bowl.

I'm not sure what we just witnessed tonight, both defenses certainly have their weaknesses but I think it's fair to say if both teams don't get dinged up, they should be in the playoffs. It would be hard to imagine a bunch of better teams in the NFC that would keep both of these teams out.

Kudos to Philly....I think they had the game until McNabb fumbled the handoff to Westbrook. McNabb kind of played poorly at the end, with that handoff and then allowing Ware to sack him right next to the sideline creating 4th and 17 and burning there last timeout. In all though, McNabb played very strong especially moving around in the pocket.

Does anyone know what Tony Kornheiser apologized for? Also, when did he say it - was it right before the apology?

Nervous isn't the word, excited is.The Cowboys don't have anything wrapped up, but they've got a fun team to watch and if they don't win the division, they'll be right there. To say they will easily win the division when the SB Champs are in the East would be silly.

Until the last couple drives when it really counted.Anyone following the game can see why Eagles fans get frustrated with him, can you blame us?
I can understand the frustration because Tony Romo is the same way. He gave the Eagles 14 points in about 20 seconds in the 2nd quarter. It' s a little easier for me to stomach than you because Dallas won, but if the Eagles win that game, you better believe all eyes would have been on Romo.

Always nice to hear Emmitt continue to play the role of illiterate homer with another Cowboys MNF broadcast.

Yes, if you get frustrated with him, then I blame you. He's the best QB you guys have ever had. He led you to the NFC championship almost singlehandledly three times, and to the SB. He faced a good defense tonight and they played well when it counted. You Philly fans have never given this guy the respect he deserves. He's been one of the best players of this decade. I shouldn't be surprised, because you guys booed Mike Schmidt, as well. I was really hoping McNabb would have left a few years ago and led another team, maybe Minnesota to a SB. But he has chosesn to stay, and you guys will never know how lucky you are. There are at least a dozen teams in this league that would be begging to have this guy.

I missed it myself, but I'm sure we'll find out when some annoying group protests the comment.
Best guess in the FFA is that he said this in response to the broadcast of the TD in Spanish early in the game."I took high school Spanish and that either means 'Nobody is going to touch him', or 'could you pick up my dry cleaning in the morning.'"FFA also believes people are way too sensitive.

Unless there were 2 instances of him apologizing, it was right after McNabb underhand tossed that scramble to BW....Tony paused then said he just had to comment on how "Brett Favre-like" that was. Bleh, company man, has to make sure Favre gets mentioned a minimum/quota of times each broadcast.

As a Cowboys homer, I wish you'd stop at illiterate. His broadcast career is starting to become the Matrix III to the Matrix II that was his time with the Cardinals. Combined, they're almost bad enough to run all the memories of the unbelievable original.

I was under the impression that it had to do with spanish or mexican futbol or people or somesuch. Came in late though. One announcer read the eagles vs cowboys in spanish and he said "on that note, I'd like to apologize"

yeah, cause cornholer is a company man. :goodposting:

Ok, then you don't get it. Don't get upset, most people don't.

a friend of mine pointed out to me that he has a strut or swagger when he's doing well or going to do well and doesn't when he's about to stink. I've been noticing it to be true quite often. He just kinda walked onto the field very non chalantly, before he goofed. It's very odd. Keep an eye on that, it's just too odd.

I think he overcompensates in trying to stay loose sometimes. He'll start off super easy going and confident hoping to hold off the late close game tightening up.

As a Giants game, this game really scared me...These are two really solid teams.
I feel like alot of teams are lopsided right now. They either have a real good D or a real good O but, precious few have both. I think the Giants are one of the few that have both. It's early and I still like the Cowboys and Eagles Ds for the long haul but, they gave up alot of points tonight. Most weeks that many points will equal a loss

God, make it stop! :fishing:

I really appreciate the fact that ESPN is letting Emmitt and TO have a discussion about how to make the Cowboys better on national TV.

maybe so, that makes some sense.

As a fellow Eagles fan, I get it. I was so excited last week when I saw McNabb trusting his receivers to make plays, not having to get two yards of separation. Tonight in the last two drives, he reverted back to the guy who holds the ball too long waiting for someone to be wide open. It cost him dearly. And I have no idea what he was doing on the double-clutch botched hand-off. He certainly fooled Westbrook.I still like Donovan and think he's one of the best QB's in the league. But he has to show confidence in his receivers and settle down in clutch situations. Hopefully he'll get more comfortable as the year goes on. Whatever the case, this is a pretty solid team and it should be a much better season than last year.

Stealing a recent post from the Eagles thread, but probably won't get you all the way there...
winners win...mcnabb doesnt. and don't give me some BS about his winning % or low INT%. true winners step up when it matters most. padding your stats against the lowlifes of the NFL doesnt make you a winner. McNabb just doesnt have "it". He will keep your hopes up just long enough to crush them at the end.

OK everyone let's look at it the right way.

1) Best offense in the league and that can't be debated.

2) Our ALL-PRO SHUTDOWN corner is limited to nickel/dime packages.

I just don't think anyone in the division has a chance. We get pacman in game shape put newman on an island and this is a much better D. Not too mention quite a few points were given tonight on turnovers.

You just watched the super bowl champs tonight

Did anyone pay attention to the trivia about DeSean going over 100 (it was Tirico, right after the timeout after Demps return). Something about first rookie to go over 100 yards receiving in his first two games....Missed it - TIA.
Bueller...Bueller...
2nd rookie WR to do that. The other was an Eagle WR and it was a long time ago. Sorry don't recall the name

People like you making comments like this is why the average NFL fan hates Dallas and Dallas fans. Show some humility. :fishing:

that's all we do around here is debate.I don't think much of their 2nd and 3rd WR options. Certainly Cincy and Arizona have better 2nd WRs.You'll say Witten is better than their TE, which is true and....see we can debate
