Week 3 Waiver Wire Pickups (1 Viewer)

Jordan Todman - If MJD's sprain costs him time, might be worth a flyer. Didn't do much with the carries he come on in relief, but had a very strong pre-season and maybe with a week of game planning might be much more productive.

Is anybody that is weak at TE going all out for Charles Clay? 2 solid weeks in a row with a running game that has looked mediocre at best.
yeah - run with Fred Davis - that chunk of #### is dead to me.
I have Dwayne Allen and Ed Dickson. I'm going all in on Charles Clay in hopes to get some TE action. With Allen down and Fleener looking awesome today, he may be 2nd TE when he's back anyways.Clay Train Choo Choo
Fleener is actually available in my league where I drafted Fred Davis, dropped Davis this week for Celek, and now plan on dropping Celek. My target is probably Clay or Fleener, Im leaning Fleener.

+1 He had the best running stats in the preseason of all the runningbacks. Hardly anybody knows of him...but he does seem to have big games at least in the preseason and the preseason before that. I believe he is 22 years old and can catch the ball out of the backfield.

He plays for the Jaguars? He's playing the Seahawks this week? Maybe for the longer future, but he'd be on my bench to play the Seahawks.

James Starks just took Lacys job. Even if Lacy is 100% healthy it's a 60-40 split favoring Starks.

Choo Choo
Doubtful.

Great pickup if Lacy misses time...but the carries will not likely favor Starks for more than one game if even that.
Lacy goes back to the feature back the moment he's healthy, which could be next game.

If Starks had 160 total yards, then Lacy would have had 200. The Redskins are terrible.

I hope everyone blows their load on FAAB for Starks this week. Even if Lacy doesn't play next game, Starks isn't going to do much against the Bengals next week.

As a Lacy owner, I'm not concerned about Lacy losing his job to Starks, but I'm hoping some news comes out regarding the severity of his concussion by tomorrow night to decide if I should put in a bid on Starks for the mean time. For the people that watched the game, you saw how wide open his running lanes were. Every RB in the league is going to torch the Redskins this year.

The bolded is key. Last year McCoy was out quite a bit with a concussion. If I owned Lacy (I don't) I would pick up Starks just to cover any concussion problems - either from this hit or possibly later in the year. Count me as one who doesn't think Starks is a threat to Lacy if Lacy is healthy - but concussions scare me.

People are actually picking up Jacobs? Because it only took him 3 carries to score from the one-foot line? 6 carries for 4 yards. Have at it!

Who would be a better ww pickup? Pierce or Starks? Feels like Pierce might have more week to week value. ...
For me Pierce>>>>>>Starks. Starks played one of the worst defenses in the league and ran well but he has no real role once Lacy returns. We saw what he could do last year and it wasn't much which led them to get Lacy/Franklin. Pierce has talent and with Rice appearing slowed and now injured he has a role in the offense and if Rice is out for any length of time he's likely a borderline RB1 in some matchups.

Brandon Bolden maybe due to Vereen's injury. Not sure when Bolden is expected back. Possibly this week I think.

CJ Anderson in Denver for deeper leagues. Ball fumbled and Hillman barely played. I am granting that Moreno played well.. just a who knows type of thing.

besides the obvious names (royal, starks, rivers?)

jordan reed- it looks like redskins defense stinks... so they will be throwing alot

garrett graham

Same for that fat ******* Bullock, he better finish this game off by making this FG, he has cost me all day. They need to drop him like the lukewarm cow patty he is.
I drafted him also. (well autodraft picked him for me when my computer froze).

But what was with all the love for him, seemed like a lot of places had him as a top 5 kicker.. he looks a big ole stinko to me.

every other league i took alex henery.. and I will be dropping tons of fun also

Andre Ellington could be worth a flyer.

Phillip Tanner could be worth one also, unless you think dm is gonna last. This is more of a hunch though

I would jump on the Lacey owner now. Do any of you really care if Starks is good? He is glass, use that to rob the Lacy owner!
RB's with concussions scare the heck outta me.
I agree. and you cant deny what starks did. If he repeats, there is no doubt you wont be able to pick him up. right now, the world is skeptical because lots of people think Starks sucks.

I had him last year and was disappointed, but I see some potential in him. The problem in the past is that Green Bay just has refused to run the ball. if this marks a change in attitude for the pack, yes Starks has value.

It is a possibility this could be a one week fluke with the redskins run d looking poor. but its also possible that starks is at least worth of being on your bench. If your team is lacking in depth, you'd be dumb to ignore this.

Ellington I might take a flyer on, as you say, but I'll pass on Tanner. Dunbar is the Dallas backup I would be targeting.

Pierce is available in one league, that would be my priority add. (~25%)

Fleener will get a small backup bid if Pierce falls thru. (~3%)

Starks is fools gold, but someone will waste 15% of their budget to get him. (0%)

The rest of the guys I'm targeting for $1 or maybe wait for free add/drops are:

Clay, Woods, Hill, Burleson, S Moss, G Graham, and a few waiver wire defenses for week 4

I would go with Clay unless Allen's injury will keep him out for a long time. I dropped Fleener before I knew Allen was going to be out. Had I know Allen was going to be out, I would have kept him for another week. Once Allen return's Fleener's productivity is likely to be very inconsistent. Clay has so far been more consistent and I would think he is more likely to continue that since Dustin Keller is out for the year.

I would watch and see what the guy with Hankerson does this week. Odds are they picked him up last week and might drop him this week to go after someone else. Washington is going to be throwing all 2nd half of most games and I think the opportunity is there for a lot of junk time points.

What do you guys think about the SD RB situation

Woodhead is out there but he did nothing week 1. Does anyone know if he will be the pass catcher going forward. PPR leagues, he could be a nice add if he is the guy

Mathews is their traditional 2 down back, w/ GL and short yardage. They don't trust him is PB and his ball control is an issue. (15 touches a game is his average.) Woodhead is in for 2-minute O and a lot of spread, but he is usually running patterns if he's in. Brown is in for all other pass plays and he's usually only used as a blocker when he's in with the occasional draw or dump-off.

Mathews is the only one with good value and Woodhead could be okay in PPR, but Brown might not fare well since we don't get points for great pass-blocking.

He had a very nice game vs Philly, I think that's what people were expecting or hoping from him as opposed to Game 1.

Another question is what to make of the WR situation after Royal/Gates with Floyd out. Wondering if Vince Brown finally gets a shot or if Keenan Allen becomes worth a grab.

It looks like Ellington has moved into the #2 role in AZ - Perhaps worth a flyer in deeper leagues?
That's the WW RB i've had my eye on right now granted it's entirely speculative at this point. reports say he's jumped the queue to #2 and is considered to be an all-round back as opposed to a 3rd down back by his staff. Dont know how much upside he has but RB's are few and far between.

Question is, how long will Mendenhall last? he's done better this week than last. Does he have any lingering knocks and bruises from weeks past (aside from his checkered injury history)?

Would you guys think about dropping Bolden for Ellington? I know Ellington is #2 now and could be good in a PPR, but I feel like Bolden has the same potential.

that's what I'm considering right now... picked up Bolden last week, but the Patriots being notoriously opaque with their injury updates, i have no idea of he's expected to dress anytime soon after his injury.

My thinking though, is that if the two have similar potential, perhaps it's wiser to go with the one that's doesnt have a bum knee?

Yeah that's probably a good point. I just think Bolden would do well in that offense if Ridley continued to struggle. But Mendenhall isn't exactly a picture of health so Ellington could have a shot there too.

I'm avoiding starks this week. I have the #1 ww position and I just can't see wasting it on what is most likely a fluke game. With Lacy probably coming back week 5, it just seems a bit pricey to chase after him.

Eddie Royal has intrigued me since the beginning of the year though. Wish I would have grabbed him before week 1 like I wanted to. Can't tell if this is a fluke or a Brandon Lloyd type comeback.
