***Week 6*** Atlanta at Minnesota -3.5 (53) (1 Viewer)

The Vikings get the opportunity to take disappointing to a whole new level this week against the winless Falcons who have finally gotten rid of their head coach. Maybe the Falcons play inspired today as many teams who lose their coach do following that. Maybe not.

The Vikings will be without Dalvin Cook this week and starting RG Dru Samia is out so rookie Ezra Cleveland might get his first playing time. Possibly Dakota Dozier moving to RG with Cleveland at LG. Otherwise it may be Brett Jones if Cleveland isn't ready yet.

Early interception by Dion Jones on Cousins then a TD by Julio Jones.

Vikings go 3 and out next drive then hold ATL to a FG after they converted a 4th and 1.

Cleveland at RG. Haven't had a chance to see him much yet.

If Dalvin Cook starts and gets hurt, whoever replaces him looks like Dalvin Cook.

If Dalvin Cook doesn't start, whoever replaces him looks like Alvin the Chipmunk.

Copy/paste...

The defensive backfield is not equipped to cover NFL receivers and the offensive line is just awful.
Yeah, and way too much coin locked up in guys that are getting older and just aren't that good relative to their salary (Cousins, Barr, Rudolph among others).

I mean more how could they look so different compared to last week. Seattle is a very good team.
Seattle isn't a good defense.

Atlanta isn't a good defense either, but Dion Jones had an excellent game.

The main difference is that the Vikings were able to run the ball against Seattle. They never got that going in this game. The pass is married to the run so when the run is not working then the bootlegs and play action aren't working either. Some of it is too predictable because defenders are able to pressure Cousins on those play fakes as soon as he is turning to look downfield. The defense knows what they are going to do too often and these plays do not work when they can anticipate as well as they did.

Credit to Atlanta for a good defensive game plan. What they did to the bootlegs reminded me of what Green Bay and Chicago were doing to them last season.

When a poor defense like Atlanta can do this, maybe the offense is too predictable. This isn't a problem so much when its working and they are running the ball effectively.

Kirk Cousins played like crap. The Vikings have turned him into a game manager and they should not need to pay him top $$ to do what any QB could do. Every QB looks good when they don't have to throw because the running game is working.
