Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups (2 Viewers)

For those curious about Allen, he's the real deal. Soft hands, good burst in tight spaces, great body control in the air are just some of his tangibles. He's picked up essentially all of Floyd's snaps and targets, has a very healthy amount of RZ targets and is apart of one of the leagues most high powered passing offenses.

This isn't a Royal type fluke and after some quick analysis (check out the Allen hype thread or the thread pertaining to SD's WRs) and it becomes very apparent. Obviously, there will be bumps along the ride as he is a rookie and Rivers likes to spread the ball but he's very much worth a flier.
Song - you like d. Hopkins or Allen better long term. In a rookie keeper league and thinking of dropping Hopkins for Allen.
That's a really tough one as I feel like Hopkins and Allen have flashed the most out of all rookie WRs. Both have similar upside IMO (I don't project either to be "elite" but admit Allen has a better shot then Hopkins) but I also believe Hopkins will take longer to develop. I read reports in the off season that Allen could "hop right into the NFL" and to be honest, he really does look very polished. Personally, I'd go Allen for the aforementioned reasons plus a myriad of others but it's almost too close to call.

For redraft purposes however, Allen is the no brainer choice.
Just to add to songs wonderful analysis, Allen has Rivers throwing to him and Hopkins has Pick 6 Schaub passing him the rock. Go with Allen.

Worth dropping Austin for Ginn? Having trouble pulling the trigger. Need a WR for bye weeks coming up and Ginn's bye is already done. Austin is my current WR3 in a 16 team. Afraid that I'm downgrading longterm for the end of the season/playoffs.

I still do not trust Ginn much, so I would be hesitant to make that move, but Austin is part of a three-headed committee.

Me either. Started Kerley last week and probably hit his high mark of the season, I don't trust him either.

Terrence Williams has a great schedule coming up and in the playoffs. If he ends up the #2 WR regardless of Miles, he could be huge. Obviously Keenan Allen as well.

Who would you rather pickup, though? I have Vincent Brown and Romo already. I'm putting in claims for both as I think both can be great. Allen more consistent perhaps, but Williams more upside?
I'm very happy to have picked up both in Terrence Williams and Keenan Allen in the last two weeks. I think both are matchup plays, and probably both have seen their season ceiling already. But still very good WR3/flex plays going forward.
FF always throws me for a loop, so I could be wrond, but I think everything is pointing in the right direction for Keenan Allen.

- His snap counts have gone up every week until it hit 100% last week.

- He has done better and better every week with his opportunities.

- He plays for a team and a QB that likes to throw a lot and have a bad running game

- He plays for a team that has a bad defense and will require the offense to score a lot.

- He is getting a lot of red zone looks.

The one thing that is working against him, is that Rivers will spread the ball around a lot and they have the short/intermediate routes run by Gates and Woodhead.

I would be very surprised if last week was Keenan Allen's ceiling. In the game itself he could have had 1-2 more TDs, which would have been a monster game....and that would have probably been his season ceiling. With Rivers spreading the ball around he is going to have down games for sure, but I feel very confident that he will have several games where he can put up at least similar stats as last week...around 5-6 catches for 100 yards and a TD. He did it the previous week as well, just without the TD.

His best games may come when they are trailing or are up against a high-scoring opponent....and they have two games against Broncos, a game against Colts, one against Redskins, and another against the Raiders again. The FF playoff schedule (week 14-16) is Giants, Broncos, and Raiders. Those could all be great matchups for Allen. Obviously by then, we will know better if Allen is for real or not, but I think I want SD offensive players on my roster in the playoffs.

T. Austin? Is this PPR? It depends on what you're looking for. Personally, I find Ginn to be very intriguing. If you discount week 1 where CAR wasn't aware of just how to use him, Ginn is being utilized 6 times a game on average (and producing). Yeah, he's very boom/bust but increased volume will only help going forward. I'd feel more comfortable stashing him but in your case you could very likely start him over Austin.

Does it make sense to drop LeGarette Blount for Marcel Reese? Wondering who's likely to put up points this week, especially with Ridley out.
Yes, especially if this is PPR. Even against KC, Reece is going to be a legitimate PPR flex option this week.

Sorry, Miles. It is PPR, Limited benches, already stashing Harvin so I have no space and have to drop Kerley or Miles and will have to drop one of these again for week 7 for a Kicker.

maybe already mentioned but....the HOU te, Graham, DaRell Scott, deep sleepers: Khiry R., Barner. Cupboards are thin but over the next 3-5 weeks there should be 2-3 guys that emerge. Now is the time to stash if possible. I was able to get Stacy, Ellington... for example. I'm also targeting key backups like Helu, B Brown in small trade deals.

In deep leagues where wide receiver help is scant on the waiver wire, I like Emanuel Sanders as a nice, dirt cheap pick-up and bye week filler. Sanders won't get you an explosive week, but he's also unlikely to lay an egg. Most importantly, Sanders has already had his bye week so he'll be available on your bench to fill-in for your starting receivers during their coming weeks.

Sanders has been consistent on putting up points. Like u said not much of a ceiling, but no goose egg. Rather plug in a player like him than golden tate

I already have 2 good tight ends, but still had to pick up Graham. Graham seems like the pickup of the week with Owen Daniels going on IR today.

picking up harvin this week before too much more chatter starts to happen about his return. he may be a dead roster spot for a couple more weeks but worth it.

I would consider dropping Kerley, but also considering dropping Miles Austin myself. If I drop Austin it would be for Golden Tate who has averaged 10.1 points per in PPR leagues this year.

Seconding Reece, Jennings got a hammy
All three guys limited in practice Wednesday. Was thinking of plugging Reece if he was only one healthy. Having doubts McFadden wants to return.
I believe they'll hold out DMC as the bye-week is right around the corner.

Jennings on the other hand has a legit shot to play as the tweak doesn't seem all that serious. The match-up is rough, but either would make for a decent flex (Reece more so in PPR) if one or the other didn't suit up. It's definitely worth keeping tabs on.

It's all about the snaps - Reed will probably see the field less than half the time.

Reed's true worth will begin in 2014.

For week 7. A team dropped Eddie Lacy to pickup Andre Brown today. I have the most blind bid bucks, am going to spend 3/4 of my bucks to get him to pair with CJ.5k as my RB3.

Did I miss something on Lacy?

U should give lacy back. Obviously that owner was smoking crack.

Nah, essentially your league quality just emulates your post quality.

Jordan Reed could be a sneaky play for those that are desperate at TE
This will sound dumb, but I picked up Reed this week and (as of now), plan on starting him over Hilton at flex, vs a Dallas D that's been kind to running backs. Loving the matchup. :shrug

not really. RG3 was targeting Reed>Davis. Davis was fairly worthless before he got hurt.
I'm banking on this. Owen Daniels got hurt and Graham had already been picked up. Kyle Rudolph was available as well but I'd rather take a chance with Reed...just seeing more upside there

Thinking of picking up Andre Brown although Brandon Jacobs looked really good yesterday.

Reed has a crazy good match-up vs. DAL this week. Gates and Thomas have combined for a whopping 19/258/3 over the past two weeks, exploiting their soft middle.

Reed is a strict pass catching TE who was garnering an average of 5 targets a week when healthy. The hype train got a derailed after the contusion so he's flying under the radar but there's definitely some sleeper appeal here.

Is he going to split carries with DWill like he used to? I remember last year this guy was basically garbage. What makes his situation better this time around?

He's a talented player, and he's in a better situation than many other RB stashes. Indeed, with most of the other RB stashes you're only gambling on an injury to the starter whereas JStew is probably going to be thrust into a prominent role immediately. I would guess that he's looking at ~10 touches per game with ~3 of them being receptions, and that has some value in deeper PPR formats. He does carry a lot of injury risk though...

If Miles Austin were on your wire how much would he be worth?

We are 6 weeks from this guy being considered a top 20 WR. He had like 10 receptions in week 1.

IMO, you do not very often find talent that you can immediately insert into your lineup.

I think he is worth a lot of your bidding amount.

he will post inconsistent numbers every week that he decides to play. Week one was a product of NYG taking Dez out of the game. Even if you own and start miles you're on pins and needles that he's going to come off holding his hammy. Not worth the frustration and they want to use Williams more and more .Worth a few bucks if you're desperate.

Obviously, completely disagree - but in referring to the NYG game - which team is not going to try and take Dez out? Right now Dez and Witten are targets 1 & 2 - which leaves a lot of opportunity for the WR2.

And before we laud Williams - it took 36 pass attempts for the guy to total 4 targets. That number looks low.

M. Austin isnt a bad pickup, if he comes back and has a good game and finishes healthy his value could go back up to a top 20-30 WR, not bad if you can get him for free or cheap as a WR4/5. If he sucks or gets hurt again just drop him next week. I thinks hes worth taking a shot on stashing this week

I picked up Dawson whose struggled but I think that has to do with the 49ers as a whole. I think he'll be a top 10 kicker like last year. I also grabbed Heath Miller who was ranked the 4th best TE last year. I think Miller could be a TE1. I also grabs Foles who I'm not sure about. It's a 2qb league so maybe he keeps the job? Maybe lol

Cumberland and Reed at TE. I took Reed, Have Clay and Gronk, Donald Brown worth a grab, Andre Brown. Zac Stacy if available
