I've been wondering about this, as well. Could there be a concussion involved here? If Welker doesn't play, Gaffney becomes at least an interesting sleeper option (for teams like mine with poor WR depth)...

He *HAD* to have been concussed. Now, how bad, I dunno. But, he got rocked and had such a vacant stare on the sideline.

Has he had any issues with concussions in the past?

Mankins believes Welker will play

Published Tue Dec 2 9:06:37 p.m. ET 2008

(TheHuddle) The Boston Herald reports New England Patriots OG Logan Mankins said he believes WR Wes Welker (concussion) will be able to play in Week 14. 'He's a little firecracker. He's a tough little guy. He took a big hit. I think he's all right. Hopefully he's all right. You never want to see anything bad happen to anyone, but I think he's a tough guy. He'll get through it,' Mankins said.

Analysis: It would appear, based on the minimal amount of things coming out of the Patriots arena, that Welker will play this week, though it would be wise to have a short notice backup plan should the news be verified at the last minute. The Pats are notorious about not letting out much information in advance, so if you have another solid option, you might want to err on the caution. Otherwise, plan to start him at the moment.

I have been burned by Pats injury reports numerous times. See if he practices during the week.

It was strange last week that with Welker out from the hit that Gaffney only managed one grab late. I know the conditions were horrible and alot of passes were dropped but only one catch? I thought Jabar had become more involved of late but have to wonder now.

Remember, they're playing SEA............Pats might sit him anyway if there is ANY cause for concern.

And if he DOES play, I could see them getting an early lead and pulling him as a pre-caution.

welker is a tough little ******* ---- if he got one hand hand knocked off on that hit, he'd be out there this week catching balls like jim abbott.
