Wes Welker on PUP (1 Viewer)

I have been looking around the net and this site to try to figure out what EXACTLY is Wes Welker's injury that has him on the PUP now and not practicing. I can't seem to find anything other that "undisclosed" injury. What is the big secret?

From his latest news page on this site:

Patriots WR Welker Returns To Practice On Sunday

New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker returned to practice with the team on Sunday, after missing the previous two days for undisclosed reasons....

********************************

So he was practicing in June, now in July he isn't. He has missed over a week of practice, even Mike Reiss from the Boston Globe blog is not saying much

http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/

Anyone know what is going on, when he might return to practice?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe that PUP 't means much in pre-season, unlike the regular season, . A team can PUP a player for a day if he is a bit sore and then bring him back.

Yea, in pre-season, you can return from the PUP at any time. Normally after you pass a physical, but why didn't he pass? Is this the start of Welker-Gate?

Typical Belichek circumventing the rules.

By putting guys on PUP who are barely injured or don't need extra practice he can go over the 80 player roster limit for a few days to decide if marginal guys are worth keeping around longer.

Putting someone on the Active-PUP doesn't let you go over the 80 player roster limit but don't let the facts get in the way of your hate.

Word is Welker and some of his boys are having their fantasy draft this weekend. Expect him on the field Monday with a renewed sense of purpose.

Seriously, Id bet anything its a groin. You dont mess around with the groin.

Per this morning's email, his is "Magically" healed and back to practice!!Boston Herald Blog
I was surprised to see Tomase's name/face on that blog - I thought his editors published a big Me Aculpa from him after the SpyGate-St. Louis Rams/NE Super-Bowl-story blew up in Tomase's face and all over the Herald - I figured he wasn't long for the Herald with all that egg on his face and the probable freeze-out-forever from the Patriots' front office/coaching staff/players.

You got it.Welker missed all of the team’s spring practices and the first eight days of camp because of a groin injury. It was the first time in Welker’s career, at any level, that he missed the start of a training camp.

Yeah, it must not have been anything real serious. Just a tweak or a strain not worth risking the first week. It sounds like Belichick may have been tired of seeing so many dropped balls in practice, and demanded Welker blow his draft off and just take himself with his first pick so he'd be forced to perform up to that slot. Could be a good sign for Welker owners.
