Wes Welker's value going forward (1 Viewer)

Good news for Welker owners today. It's not a given that he starts week 1 or returns to his old self right away or even this year at any time. That said, his value today is definitely higher than it was yesterday.

He's 29 years old. He was the #1 WR in terms of PPG last year in 1 ppr leagues. Brady and Moss still around. So, what's he worth now?

What would you sell him for?

What would you buy him for?

What kinds of deals have you seen for him?

PPR:-Would sell for a Top 12 WR perhaps, Top 5 TE, Top 15 RB (it all really depends who is offered -- just ballpark). Not looking to sell (was looking to buy all offseason)Wouldn't buy right now (time has passed -- for now...maybe he has a setback of some sort). I would go out and buy Edelman right now as a cuff (if you haven't already). As shown already, it's a position you'll get production from.Saw Manningham&Matt Moore and also Tony Gonzalez and rookie 1.11 this offseason. Heck, even if Welker never played another game, I wouldn't be distraught over that first deal. Downright theft to get a top WR1 for replacement parts.

I still think I sold him at a pretty decent price in January, but admittedly now I wish I still had him because he'll fetch a lot more now than he did then. I love the player, but I just don't trust that he'll be the same player, at least not over a long period of time. I'd hold off until a little after camp starts and wait for the first big Welker headline then flip him.

I've been in two dynasty auctions recently, one a start-up the other in year 4.

He went for slightly over 10% of cap in both leagues.

I sold him about 6 weeks ago. Seems I was selling low, but the deal involved Chris Johnson who also had some clouds over his future with the contract situation. I gave Welker and two #1's for Chris Johnson in a PPR league..

Wes Welker vs Mike Wallace PPR Dynasty ?

I made a trade in a dynasty start up and had 57th pick and moved back to 62 thinking I could still get Welker at 62.

Then when I got a little worried and the owner of the 56th pick asked who wanted his pick I said I wanted it to make me an offer.

After about 15 mins of waiting and no offer I logged off at 11:45 PM.

I woke up the next morning only to see he offered me a 56/62 swap and a later round swap but it was too late for me as his offer came at midnight 15 mins after I logged off.

Welker then went exactly 57th and it's been tearing me up ever since.

I ended up taking Mike Wallace at 62.

I have tried several trade offers to swap the 2 but can't get him

Now that I have been thinking about it I wonder who is the better guy to have right now.

Wallace isn't exactly a PPR type WR but who knows. Also you never know if a 2nd year guy will bust ala Eddie Royal, Michael Clayton and Welker is proven.

I had targetted Welker the entire draft for the 5th round and somehow I let it slip away on a bad trade and then going to sleep 15 freaking minutes too early.

I think your instincts were right and Welker is the guy to have. But I also think that if you don't win your league, that won't be the reason. Sure, the guy you wanted got away but I don't see it as a make-or-break loss. And in dynasty, it's even less of a loss. Don't fret over it too much. Your team needs you.

After the injury, there was no way I was going to sell.. hes a hold until his health came back.

But with his super fast recovery, if I could get another a deal with another top 15 WR in it I might bite.

The thing is Welker could be this PPR machine for yrs as long as hes on the Pats, similar to Mason. I also own Elderman in the 2 dynasty leagues I have Wes.

I traded Wells, Welker and Keller for Forte, Crabtree and Kolb. This was before Welker's seemingly miraculous recovery. I love Crabtree but it was tough to give up Wells. My QB is Big Ben so I needed some protection there as well.

Anyone draft an initial dynasty in the last week? Curious what round Welker is going in now with all the positive news...
12 Team PPR Dynasty with 1 RB/WR flex and 1 WR/TE flex, which places more value on WRs. Welker went 63rd. To give a frame of reference here's 60-65.60. Chad Ochocinco61. Philip Rivers62. Joe Flacco63. Wes Welker64. Jason Witten65. Hakeem Nicks (myself  )

Trade back in April. I traded away Colston (never really liked him as my WR1). This was before the horrid news about Britt's lack of conditioning came out.

* Gandalas gave up Berrian, Bernard MIN WR;Colston, Marques NOS WR;Ellison, Keith BUF LB;Wilson, George BUF S; Year 2010 Draft Pick 4.01

* TEAM B gave up Britt, Kenny TEN WR;Edelman, Julian NEP WR;Welker, Wes NEP WR; Year 2010 Draft Pick 4.07

I think he's a top-10 WR in PPR dynasty. He should have 3 or 4 more years (at least) of quality play in him.

I got him straight up in a PPR Dynasty league about 3 weeks ago for C. Benson. Think I got a 3rd rd. pick too in exchange for my 5th rd.

I dealt Welker and Colston for Randy Moss and Nicks in a PPR league a month or two ago. Felt better about it then than I do now, obviously, but still okay with it.

Took Welker over weekend at 4.12. 16th WR taken. Was not confident that he'd still be there at 5.12.

1/2 PPR, start 2 WR league. He was 1st WR I took. I'm all in on Welker.
