So, I am able to find the game tonight on espn by going to “home” and searching sports.
the espn channels are not in my channel guide. How do we re-add them?

I thought they handled it well. They said it like it is, even going so far as to tell customers they could subscribe to Disney on their own, as a solution. NEVER would a cable company do that. Refreshing change and as a result I had no intent of ditching YTTV. Finally, some transparency and truth to the matter. And they let customers know ahead of time, too. So there was ample time to adjust.
That will stick in my head, just as long as what cable companies did to customers for decades.
I recall Dish doing things like this before I replaced them. Free pay per views or free premium channels. Usually, the disputes didn’t take long. I haven’t seen one yet on Hulu but being part of Disney makes it easier, especially since they bought a bunch of Fox and I think NBC still owns a chunk of Hulu. Heck, they might still have Fox TV rights.

Ugh. I really want to cut the cord but while trialing YTTV I noticed I am only getting stereo sound. So after some investigation it seems that there is extremely limited 5.1 surround support by YTTV on a few devices on a few channels, Directv Stream offers surround sound on a few channels, and all of the other streaming services are stereo only.
I would love to switch to YTTV or a Hulu+ bundle, but by the time I add on 4K and unlimited DVR it’s approaching my cable bundle price and I don’t even get digital surround sound? Ugh.

What a ridiculous article, all proud of dropping content cost from $400 to $230/month, mostly due to short-term discounts.
I've abandoned the Fire stick long ago and just pay for a couple of streaming services, rotating around a bit to watch the best of different services. I'm currently working through AMC+ (free for a year when my wife bought a phone) and HBO Max for a month.
What a ridiculous article, all proud of dropping content cost from $400 to $230/month, mostly due to short-term discounts.

Just an FYI, but I never use the DVR on Hulu Live. I know it’s there and I do use it for sports but every show I watch is already saved in seasons. I never record any shows. I don’t know if YTTV does this but Hulu does and maybe that’s because they were created by the networks and so even non Hulu Live did have seasons of TV shows. It’s kind of nice because as soon as a new show appears for a show I’ve watched it’s in my list to watch.

OMG, I wanna yell this from the mountain tops (of snow that's accumulated) but we got hit and we continue to get hit with snow today. So far we've gotten about 6 or 7 inches, predicted to get a foot but for the first time in 15 years I woke up, turned on the TV (after getting 2-3 inches of ice and several inches of snow) and I didn't have to fish out an extendable pole with a squeegee attached to it and clear off the Dish on my roof to watch TV!!!
I'm still with Hulu, still saving over $65 per month and the ONLY negative thing I have is that I'm well into my 5th decade on this planet, so I'm from the past, and I've been programmed to associate channels with numbers. I only wish I could assign numbers to channels in Hulu, that's my only gripe. I love the interface options, recordings, not having to guess which local TV affiliate is in contract negotiations so not available this month, no stupid (outdated) boxes to deal with (nor being allowed to move the stupid, outdated boxes), the yearly increases, my neighbors trees and all the other non-sense I've been putting up with for so long now.

YoutubeTV has all the channels we watch and the unlimited DVR sounds great to me. Moving to a new house in new neighborhood and the cable is dominated by one company. Currently on Spectrum but they aren't an option (at least for now) in that region. Hargray has a monopoly and there are fees for everything... and everything's brother.
I'll use their internet as I need it for work but the cable is $200ish just by itself. No thanks.
I have Roku for bedroom TVs where I can use YTTV and Amzn Video and looking to buy a new 65"+ tv for living room which will sit very close to the router so shouldn't have any issues steaming or live tv.
Thinking of trying YTTV first. Interface looks easy and similar to Spectrum App which my wife is used to.
Hopefully they get Bally regional sports onboard as I like to watch my Braves. But I'll make do in the meantime and again, every channel that we watch is on the YTTV lineup.

when I purchased my tv in December it did not have a yttv app. I have been streaming through my ps4. Thank you your bump, I double checked and it’s now there. Much prefer streaming through the tv.

For all you folks on the Hulu Live package that includes Disney+ and ESPN+:
ESPN plus add-on will be $9.99 a month starting in August. For me it starts August 23rd. So not sure how that will affect that package - my guess will it goes up $9.99 a month.

Yeah, not sure. When I first added ESPN+ on HULU I had to pay for it - I think it was $5.99 a month or something. They then packaged it in with Disney + and my total outlay pretty much stayed the same.
I'm not even sure how this is gonna affect HULU subscribers exactly but in my account it says on August 23rd ESPN+ will cost the $9.99.
Just not sure if that package I'm signed up for is just gonna increase or if they will rebundle it somehow.

I switched to YouTubeTV this weekend. Hulu raised their prices (as CheifD noted) and that kinda ticked me off plus I wanted the sports but I, literally, never watch Disney but the real main reason I switched is that after about a year, the lack of a proper TV menu guide just pushed me over the edge. The menu is just horrible and I could never get used to it plus you have favorites but my favorites kept getting bumped off and I couldn't seem to lock them in place. It just felt like the channel selection was always in motion, always changing and I get what they were trying to do but I just would really have preferred it if they would have let me personalize it OR just said "hey this is what a cable tv, dish or direct tv menu would look like, would like that instead of OUR moving menu thing?" At this point, I really don't care, I'm saving $30 per month with YouTubeTV, I like the menu better, I like the infinite DVR and overall it just seems like a better product for less money to me. So, I shall keep this until I find something cheaper and better. I have to say, I have absolutely NO REGRETS about cutting the cable still to this day and, in fact, I wish I had done it a long time ago. It feels very liberating to cancel your TV provider with a few clicks and set up a new one all in less than 10 minutes, it's amazing. I will never miss the days of the cable guy rolling around in my attic or the satellite TV guy affixing junk to my roof and having stupid, outdated, old fashioned devices hooked up to every TV in my house. And I loved that I had to pay $10 extra per device per month for the privilege of using the service I paid for on one of my other TV's, awesome! Oh and I really loved it when a device would break and they would send me a dirty, disgusting, used outdated one filled with dust, pet fur and food stuck to it. . . oh I had to still had to pay full rental fees for that used junk, thanks! I will never go back to that crap again!

I have had yttv for about 3 years now. I think it's great. It has gone up 30 bucks though over that time. If Hulu went up then I expect yttv will follow suit soon. I set my dad up with it since you can have 3 devices using it. He gives me half the cost so works out pretty well.

Just cut the DTV cord.....been a 25 year customer.....$ 230 per month....called to cancel and they said sorry to see you go after 4 years...huh?....anyway, told them I'm tired of paying $ 7 per month on each of 8 boxes I have .... I said they need to waive that charge....they said no go....I said goodbye.....got an email from them to return 3 of the 8 boxes...trash the others.....sooooo they were charging $7 a month on boxes that were worthless to them......GOODBYE!!!!!

I rarely watch tv. Can’t stand it personally. But my wife does.
She claims she needs HBO and Showtime. And then the normal channels like HGTV, TLC, stuff like that.
All I need is my NHL/NY islander games.
Shes concerned about our internet being overloaded and it effecting a streaming service.
We already have Netflix, Disney, Hulu, ESPN+ (local games blacked out), and Amazon.
My kids don’t watch TV, just streaming and I would need a new tv for our bedroom bc that’s the last one that’s not “smart”.
Give me to ammo to dump this money sucker.

I’d check out Fubo if hockey is your big thing. Keep the dish and try it for a month and see if it’ll work for you. Fubo plus HBO and Showtime is about half what you’re paying now.
Wow I'm almost in the same exact spot. The problem for me is I need YES Network and only DirectTV stream has that. But DirectTV stream doesn't have NFL Network or Redzone. So I still haven't pulled trigger.

Well, does your wife actually stream anything? The reason why I ask is because its strange that she's that committed to HBO and Showtime. HBO has great programming, which is why HBO Max is so awesome. But obviously you don't need DTV for that.
If you can get her to watch a few of the TLC-type shows that she enjoys on a streaming service, I'll bet you can use the lack of commercials to sell her on streaming.

Anyone that is looking, I just started using KemoSat IPTV. 1 year is under 10 bucks a month, 18k channels. Live sports, PPV, ESPN, Ticket/RedZone/Movie channels, really all of it. Super easy to install on any android based streaming device, as they have their own player.
Heading to the Comcast local store today to cancel TV, still need their internet though so we'll see how it goes. Tired of paying 250+ and all of my discounts expired and am at 290/mth now.

Father in law got YTTV for the Super Bowl. Its interface has been improved dramatically - when I got a trial many years ago for the Olympics, it was unusable.

Just took that insane bill to 95/mth for just internet, add in the 10/mth for the KemoSat and saving almost 200/mth on TV

Just get a Firestick or Chromecast, depending on your current "smart" environment.
You can stream HBO Max and Showtime on either as well.
Best way to convince her is get a streaming service for those and start up a trial and show her. Don't cancel your current service until she sees it. Then, after she sees it, offer to buy her something nice with the $2000 you'll save over the course of the year.

She likes to browse the cable directory and jump from HBO to TLC in the same menu. Not "Let's see what's on Netflix.....nope nothing there. OK over to Hulu....nope nothing there....." It seems YTTV has HBO and Showtime as an add-on (vs separate services), and I showed her a video of the YTTV interface that basically mimics the cable directory. That lessened her fears a bit.

We polled the kids at dinner tonight, and neither one of them watch traditional TV.
the 17 year old watches a combo of Netflix and Youtube.
the 12 year old only watches Youtube.
I don't watch hardly any TV.

Make the switch. You'll never go back. And when you get your YTTV started, remember you can customize the guide in your settings. So you can move HBO up in the channel guide for her (they typically put it at the very bottom).

Even within an app, it's a little cumbersome. I have Hulu Live, and switching between channels requires an extra step (or more). First World problems, I know.

i've long cut waayyyyy down, currently at $68.95 for the high speed innerwebz, and a paltry $12.89 for "basic" (local) TeeVee ... we never really use it, lest there's an event on National broadcast that i care to tune in to, and that may be only a coupla/few/handful of times a yr
but, ehhh ... i'm old school NYC, i need channels 5,9,11,13 for continuity sake. CinemaHD/UKTurks/LiveNet are currently my go to triumvirate for all viewing needs.

Yeah, but that inconvenience is made up by voice control saying "watch xxxxxxx" and it opens it up without having to do anything else.
This was a huge gripe for me last year when I was watching the Yankees on YES on Fios and then switching to the NFL Thursday game on Amazon PRIME. Instead of just hitting last channel on the remote its now... hit menu, hit Amazon PRIME, wait a few seconds for PRIME to boot up, select NFL game, wait a few seconds for NFL game to boot up. By the time you are done all that the baseball game is back on .thanks for all the replies.
