WFAN reporting Andy Reid may step down (1 Viewer)

If true, downgrade everyone located within 50 miles of Philadelphia.
The Giant game was just absoltuely inept coaching. You let Justice get absolutely slaughtered out there without any help given the fact the Eagles ran the ball relatively well. Im a Reid fan, but his playcalling is just atrocious.
Two words: Marty Mornhinweg. Record as head coach: 5-27.Andy Reid may not be perfect, but he's so much better than Mornhinweg it's ridiculous. And isn't Mornhinweg calling the plays?
this has :tfp: written all over it..wow...

Absolutely agree. That may have been the worst piece of coaching I may have ever seen in the NFL. NEVER making an adjustment to help Justice with any type of double team with the guard, the TE, or a back was an absolute disgrace. Why no changes were made was just beyond comprehension. One guy in my league joking (I think) said it looked like Andy was throwing the game and must have had money on the Giants. It was bad.

I think his sons are adults??? If that is the case it is to late to take time off with them, they should have there own lives.
Any kid that leeches money from his parents still needs parenting. But yeah, it's too late for them. Perhaps Andy is considering taking time off to conceive new children so he can start over on the whole parenting front.
Too late? So he should just give up?
I would. As I alluded to, you can always make more kids to give the whole parenting thing another shot.

If Reid had kept even a minimally experienced punt returner on his roster going into the season, the Eagles very probably win week 1 at Lambeau.

Gotta tell ya here man, Bill PArcells showed a few different plays where they did help Justice, but the player helping him was either blocking air or selected the wrong guy to block. It was one of the better moments for ESPN in a while.Justice had help, the help was no good.

Saw that as well. In fact, his whole point in brining it up was to dispell the notion he had been hearing that Justice got no help. He showed 4-5 plays where there was no blitz and there was either a 2-1 on the line or a 3-2 in favor of the Eagles. The whole line just played bad. That said, the replays still showed Justice just getting absolutely abused. Also saw Adam Shefler last night reporting that he had spoken to several people inside the Eagles that all said without hesitation that there is absolutely no chance Andy Reid steps down. Of course, what are they going to say, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

They did slide protection scheme towards Justice. They did try and use a combo block with Justice/Herremans & it simply didn't work. Interestingly enough, Herremans had his knee scoped early this week so that couldn't have helped. That being said, Justice was still terrible. In order for the combo block to work, his responsibility was to get on Osi's outside shoulder and funnel him to the guard. We know how that worked out. I appreciate Parcells' efforts to show that Reid did not simply leave Justice on an island. This still falls at Reid's feet. He and Heckert jointly do the personnel evaluation but Reid retains the final say on personnel decisions. In Eagles' land we've heard them crow on more than one occasion about how they stole Winston Justice and were fully prepared to draft him with their first pick had Bunkley not fallen to them. Justice now has 2 training camps and a full season (although deactivated) of coaching (from Juan Castillo, who's an excellent coach) under his belt, yet he looked like they plucked him from a concession stand just prior to the game and inserted him at left tackle. His technique sucked. Slow off the line, no anchor etc. The help they tried to give their "future left tackle" wasn't enough Reid is largely to blame. If your protection schemes are still breaking down, how about dialing up some more runs (maybe directly at the undersized d line), maybe some screens or a draw? His philosophy has been to come out firing, throwing the ball all over the field and build a lead. Then turn loose the fast (but undersized up until this season) defense to pressure the opposing quarterbacks. This philosophy is competely reflected in all of his offensive personnel decisions. They finally realized that not every team likes to throw the ball at a 65-70% clip & beefed up their front seven this offseason. That didn't change Reid's offensive baby though. He still has two west coast tight ends that can't block worth a spit in Celek and Schoebel. LJ has improved as a blocker but his availability has been a question mark for quite some time. On the one sack, the back they left in to "help"? Reno F'n Mahe who weighs all of 165 lbs (in reality) and wasn't even worthy of a roster spot the opening week. It took the failure of the" Jeremy Bloom Experience" and 2 muffed punts that cost them an opening day win for them to pick up the phone & unretire Reno. The muffed punts? 1)Greg Lewis a 5th receiver who hasn't returned a punt since he walked on at Illinois probably 6-7 years ago. 2)JR Reid a kickoff return man that has been cut from 3-4 different teams (one being the Eagles) because he has nerve damage in his leg so severe he can't even walk without the assistance of a special brace, not to mention has returned all of 1 punt in 3 years. The "depth" they have been touting on the offensive line has been exposed both in the preseason, and in Justice's case,on the national stage. They were starting a green left tackle, a guard with a balky knee, Reno to help and a quarterback with Bledsoe-like mobility and what is his answer? Keep on firing. Ironic that Parcells, the guy who likes to "shop for his own groceries" if he's doing the cooking, didn't point that out. Although he has accomplished a great deal during his tenure in Philadelphia and seems like a geniunely decent man, Andy has flat-out sucked this year. He still has earned enough goodwill from my standpoint to right the ship this year. If he doesn't start paying more than just lip service to running the same balanced offense that saved their season last year, then I would definetly start putting out feelers if I were Banner/Lurie because you will never win a SuperBowl with his current philosophy & personnel mix.

I'm a 'Skins fan who respects what Reid has done with that franchise, but I also have been baffled by Reid's inflexibility and bull-headedness in running his offense. The inability of Reid, over the course of years, to recognize that his offense has been at its best when they've run the ball more is mind boggling, especially in a season when his star QB is clearly not recovered from knee surgery and has no business shouldering all of the offensive load.

Curious how you determined the adjustments that were made or not made? Could they have been made and not executed properly or the defense read and defeated?Edit: Should have finished the thread. I see multiple posters have pointed out that changes were made as seen by Parcells.
