What are you doing with Rodgers? (1 Viewer)

This goes out to Rodgers owners where your ww pickups are limited and run on Wednesday, your open ww pool closes Thursday night, or simply the Packers don't announce if Rodgers will play until Sunday night until other options have played. Are you going to sit a low end QB1 or QB2 with upside or wait it out?

For myself in a TD heavy format I checked projections and with a QB2 it's a coin flip. With a big QB game it should be an easy win. My QB depth chart got hit hard losing Stafford then Hill so now I'm down to Hasselbeck. I'll probably pick one of Hass/Palmer/Henne/Collins/ASmith because my WW runs on Wednesday but also cut a RB lottery ticket for week 16 like Choice and picking up Flynn to carry 3 QB's (small roster limits).

ASmith is probably out because he plays Thursday which buys me until Sunday to decide between risking Flynn vs. someone atleast a bit more tenured. If they say ARod is questionable on Sunday I'm waiting. If he's out I'm probably taking another QB.

What is everyone else's game plan?

Rodgers uncertain status for Sunday sure makes it difficult for week 15. I DO expect him to play as the Packers can't afford another loss if they wanna get to the playoffs. Even if the Pats pass defense is ranked low(31st) they've gotten better recently. How effective will Rodgers be is the question. I can't really take the chance with him but the kind of QB he is I'm holding out hope he performs well. I have Jon Kitna as my QB2 and he really wouldn't be a bad start playing the Redskins(29th pass defense) at home. I have enough good rb's(Hillis,Moreno,Tolbert,Blount,Choice) so I'm thinking about dropping Choice and trying to pick up Collins. Collins is at home against the Texans(32nd pass defense). So if I get Collins I'm more than likely going to roll with Kitna or Collins. I have enough good rb's and WR's(Jennings,Bowe,Austin,Britt) that even if Rodgers plays well hopefully my rb's & wr's will pick up the slack. I also have TE's Vernon Davis and Kevin Boss.

So if you can nab Kitna or Collins off waivers they both could have decent games given their matchups. I've rode Rodgers all year to get to this point and it's a shame I might not be able to start him this week but I'm a little afraid to gamble on him. So I'll take my chances and feel pretty comfortable starting either Kitna or Collins. ;)

I'd recommend picking up Flynn as insurance and start whichever one plays. While last week's game wasn't anything to get excited about, the Pack has confidence in Flynn and with a week to prepare, I think he'd be just as good as any WW option out there - better if you consider that you still give yourself the option to play Rodgers if healthy.

Me? I'm rolling with Vick over Rodgers. Sure liked the look of Rodger's matchup though. :-(

Regardless of the Packers' need to get to the playoffs, if Rodgers doesn't pass the test battery administered by an independent neurologist, he will sit.I'm placing my season in the hands of Josh Freeman against the Lions.

If I had Kitna I'd probably just roll with him if we don't know by Sunday. Collins I'd be more tempted to wait it and and hope for the best with Flynn ... which is likely my call. As of now my WW "plan" is to get Flynn first for a spare roster spot and in Round 2 swap Hass for Collins just in case I hear something by Sunday morning. If I hear the other WR's are out (I think they'll play) before WW's run I'll add more QB's to the list. More site projections come out tomorrow so I'll have more opinions to weigh.I had such a perfect team too. I drafted ARod, Finley, Nicks, MWilliams, Gore, and Turner (no flex). So I went top heavy obviously and until now survived injury after injury. This was a fairly high stakes auction league in which several local radio station sports talk show personalities play which is pretty cool. Got Tamme and Pettigrew to cover Finley. Got Collie and Wallace to cover some weeks at WR. Even two of my PK's got hurt but landed on Shayne Graham. Snagged Blount thankfully which is covering for Gore passably. Dixon turned out to be a waste of a handcuff who's spot cost me flier space to go after Tolbert, Hillis, etc early. Losing Stafford and Hill may do me in though to waste this team with a one and done postseason if my QB of choice doesn't play well.

I don't own him but I think it's a "green light or red light" scenario. It's not like a knee or ankle where the player tries to go and decides he can't after three snaps (leaving you with a zero). You need a viable option and I would set my decision point prior to that option's kick-off. If Rodgers' status isn't clear by then, you sit him.

not having the luxury of Vick.. I rostered Flynn in week 10, when our league freezes all rosters...

I have been using Rodgers and Garrard in a start 2QB league with great success.

Have J.Campbell on the bench waiting in the wings at home vs DEN's horrible defense, just in case and I like that matchup.

But, just to be on the safe side, i plan on picking up Flynn to cover myself.

Habsfan: Thanks for the reminder that we should know the Friday concussion test results before we have to make a final decision on Sunday.

Had Rodgers and Flacco, just added Collins and Flynn to the squad and submitted lineup with Collins as starter. I can change starters but roster locks tomorrow at kickoff.

I grabbed Kitna off the waiver wire as an insurance policy three weeks ago. I can't believe the ff gods are screwing me yet again in the playoffs, forcing me to actually use my backup instead of a healthy Aaron Rodgers.

I also own Chris Johnson so I've entertained the idea of starting Collins over Kitna, but I worry that having four players (also own Foster and AJ) in the Texans/Titans game could be too risky. I think I'll stick with the safe play and start Kitna.

Garrard in for Rodgers this week.
I own Garrard, but if Rodgers doesn't play, I may drop Garrard for Collins and his matchup against the Texans. My fear with Garrard is Jones-Drew and company pound the rock 40 times and Garrard only throws the ball 20 times. This Indy O isn't the same O as in the past where you could count on a shoot-out.

Got a little cold feet on Kerry Collins -- think I'm gonna leave him on the Waiver Wire and go with Josh Freeman, who has been my backup most of the season. No reason to roster him all year if I'm not willing to play him v the Lions.

took rodgers this year in a 12 team league at the end of the 1st round ........1 point 20 yards passing/6 points td........based on rodgers running style i decided to grab eli manning at the end of the 8th preparing for injury........i finished in 1st place but my season will likely come down Sunday to eli's performance...going against vick.......good luck to all rodger's owners this week......i doubt he plays...........but we can always keep :goodposting:

Aaron Rodgers to sit against New England?

After attending Packers coach Mike McCarthy's Wednesday presser, Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe predicts that Aaron Rodgers (concussion) will not play against the Patriots in Week 15.

Bedard now writes for the Globe, but he began the season reporting for the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel and is familiar with McCarthy's "coachspeak" as well as the inner workings of the Packers' organization. ESPN's Adam Schefter adds that Green Bay is "preparing" as if Matt Flynn will start, which is fairly obvious considering Rodgers isn't going to practice before Friday at the soonest. Regardless, it's not looking good for Rodgers this early in the week. McCarthy will decide his status on Saturday. The Packers' NFC North chances and playoff hopes, period, are hanging in the balance. Dec. 15 - 2:55 pm et

Same 2 guys for me. I'll go with Eli if if any doubt about Rodgers on Sunday morning.

Eagles' 1st round pick OLB Brandon Graham is out for this game & LB Bradley is on IR too.

Eagles LB corps is hurting.

I know the Giants want to run the ball, but Eli might benefit

wait why do we assume spreading players out over multiple games is safe or reduces variance at all??

He's mostly played interested spectator in all the Eagles games I've seen.

FYI..........for Garrard owners.........his last two trips TO Indy have not been good. Zero TD's and 1 INT. At home...........different story. Leaning Kerry Collins.

You are free to assume whatever you please, but when I have a that many players from one game--for my first playoff matchup-- I worry that I am too exposed to the risk of an extremely low-scoring affair. If the Texans and Titans don't score a lot of points and I start all four, I am likely to be fighting an uphill battle.

New player into the mix who could be available ... Shaun Hill at Tampa.

So does anyone give Flynn a chance with a full week of prep time or are we definitely all saying Hill, Collins, etc are better choices?

isn't it more likely it will be high scoring though given those two teams?

One other factor to add to the mix: It's early, but a few weather models are predicting heavy snow in Foxborough on Sunday.

I'm in a league that doesn't give negative points for interceptions. I think that alone makes Matt Flynn as feasible an option as any other replacement QB, because I do expect the Pack to put the ball in the air a lot.
